The Catholic Defender: The Deepertruth Gang Goes To The Senior Citizens Center

Posted by Donald Hartley - August 31st, 2014

IMG_1750Saturday was a really blessed day as a small group of us went to the Hill Country Senior Citizen home to visit with the people living there. We were there to show the movie, The Greatest Gift, staring James Garner. This would be James Garners final film, and this one is very powerful. I strongly recommend this movie, it has a little bit of everything in it that will get you laughing at one moment and crying in the next.

And the people living at the Senior Citizens home there loved it. We took the opportunity to serve them with popcorn, tea, water, but mostly a kind smile and a good word. The people are very thankful to have us there. One kind lady gave me a Gideon bible which touched my heart.

As we were setting up, getting ready to begin the days activities I began to sing a few songs. That is something else that they love, you can be a poor singer such as myself, but it does not take much to get them started. They love to sing.

IMG_1731That alerted people living there that something was happening in their dining facility and people will come to inspect what is happening. When they see me with a movie, it is quite a blessing to see people assemble.

I’ve written on doing this and the importance of doing this for those who are living at such a facility.

Many of these people have relatives they rarely ever see and that is so sad. God bless those who do work at these facilities and they provide a safe, clean, place for them to live providing medical support. They are paid staff and so it’s their job to be there, but their love for what they do can make a difference.

Still, these people long to see their sons and daughters, their grandchildren, family members whom they love so much and desire to keep a relationship.

IMG_1728I am reminded of what the Bible teaches, Sirach 3:12 states, “My son, take care of your father when he is old; grieve him not as long as he lives. Even if his mind fail, be considerate with him; revile him not in the fullness of your strength. For kindness to a father will not be forgotten, it will serve as a sin offering–it will take lasting root. In time of tribulation it will be recalled to your advantage, like warmth upon frost it will melt away your sins.”

This speaks tons about how we are to love our parents when they grow old. We are not to abandon them and leave them.

Ephesians 6:1-3 states, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right, Honor your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise, that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth.”

IMG_1739So, what is it that will get people activated to see their loved ones living in such a facility. God bless the various church groups that make it an apostolate to visit them. This does mean so much. They identify so much with those who do visit them. I have several of them that will wear rosaries as they look forward to when I come and pray with them.

According to Anne-Marie Botek, Editor-in-chief of (connecting care givers), here are some of the more recent findings regarding loneliness and aging Americans:

18 percent of seniors live alone, while 43 percent report feeling lonely on a regular basis, according to a study conducted by researchers from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

IMG_1730Lonely seniors are more likely to decline and die faster. The aforementioned UCSF study also found that people 60-years-old and older who reported feeling lonely saw a 45 percent increase in their risk for death.

Isolated elders also had a 59 percent greater risk of mental and physical decline than their more social counterparts.

1 in 7 people with Alzheimer’s disease live alone, according to a recently released report from the Alzheimer’s Association.

Loneliness is contagious. Older adults who feel lonely are more prone to behave in ways that may cause other people to not want to be around them. Psychologists from the University of Chicago who analyzed data from the Farmingham Heart Study, a long-term, ongoing cardiovascular study, found that solitary seniors have a tendency to further isolate themselves by pushing people away and not making efforts to engage with others.
And, the biggest surprise of all?

IMG_1729Two-thirds of the older adults in the UCSF study who said that they were lonely were either married or living with a partner of some kind. This finding lends credence to the belief that it’s not about how many relationships you have.

Why are older adults so lonely?

“They are lonely because they are alone,” is the frank response of T. Byram Karasu, M.D., chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. “They [seniors] are put in nursing homes, assisted living communities, etc. Those are totally disorienting experiences.”

Even when they’re being taken care of by family caregivers, Karasu says that there is often little attention paid to deep, engaging communication between a senior and the rest of the family.

IMG_1732Our Catholic Faith instills in us the importance of service. Jesus is very clear about the importance of service. This is something you can’t put a price tag that only love beyond reason can fill the hope and the longing people feel.

1 Peter 4:10 challenges us, “As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” A Catholic priest serves the people offering God’s grace through the sacraments. Lay people can share God’s love by the love they have for others. Sacramentals are useful tools of God’s grace.

Hebrews 13:16 states, “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have; God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.”

1 Corinthians 13:13 states, “So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” That really says it all.

The Catholic Defender: The Colin Corcoran Story

Posted by Donald Hartley - August 30th, 2014

ColinColin Corcoran is a fellow writer and Catholic blogger (The Catholic Husband) blog that focuses on family life. Much of what he writes is directed towards husbands and their importance. In his article, Expectation of a Catholic Husband, Colin highlights the importance of acceptance, commitment, togetherness, love, and trust.

Colin writes, Trust: No love and no marriage can survive without this. Trust has more aspects than verbal honesty. Your wife must know you are being emotionally honest with her at all times. She is not a mind reader or clairvoyant and for her to learn to read you accurately over time she must really understand what you really think and feel. While she too must do the same, you need to make sure she feels free to do so. This means listening without judging her when she opens her heart to you, and for her to understand you – she must do the same for you. This is the basis of intimacy, for without feeling able to truly open up to each other and embrace not just what is outside – but what is inside we can never be truly intimate. Her sense of safety and security depend on her knowing that no harm will come to her. She is entrusting this care to you, you must never betray this sacred duty or her ability to trust in you will be lost. This does not always mean you will succeed, nor that you must do it alone – but together as God intended. By both of you acting selflessly for the good of the other party you will only increase that trust, and either party acting selfishly will serve to decrease or eliminate it. This applies to threats to your marriage that are violent, physical, emotional, financial, and otherwise. In short, she must trust unconditionally that you would never harm her nor knowingly allow her to come to harm.

Colin 1There is so much that the Scriptures teach on marriage and how men and women both have separate natures that is suppose to help us live in harmony with each other.

Ephesians 5:21-30 states, “Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body.”

Joe N“Mama please pray for me. Save me a seat next to you in Heaven.”

“I’m a revert. Away from faith for 20 years. Led a very promiscuous life. I was a compulsive gambler. I was a womanizer. Drugs. Booze. Said Lord’s Name in vain and profanity regularly. Paid for a couple abortions. Now I go to abortion mills with my Jesus artwork. I draw Jesus art.daily Mass and Adoration. Different person. New man in Christ.”

Joe, welcome home to the Catholic Faith! James 5:19-20 states, “My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”

Ephesians 2:19-20 states, “So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.”

Joe 10Anyone who spends time on Facebook, especially Catholic pages, you will most likely run into some of the art work that Joe Nicosia has shared. It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and Joe offers to share such great truths of our holy Catholic Faith.

The Guardian Angel: Eucharistic Miracle of Krakow Poland 1345

Posted by Donald Hartley - August 28th, 2014

Jesus picWe are called to evangelize, and some have taken this seriously, Thank God, because there is nothing more important than souls. To bring others to the Truth that exists in the Catholic Church because of the Paraclete given by Jesus Himself, is one of the greatest gifts we can give them for their walk to eternity. Pray and be strong in your faith, because as a friend of mine has repeated a few times, “the truth is hate, to those who hate the truth.” Jesus experienced this first hand and he was taken to the Cross as a result. In the early part of America’s history, Dresden James states this about truth, “A truth’s initial commotion is directly proportional to how deeply the lie was believed…when a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over the generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.” Jesus made a statement to Pilate, “the reason I came is to bear witness to the truth.” How the elite and those in authority feel about this, can be summed up by the quote of a 20th century man, George Orwell, “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.”

This was eminently true in the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. He was Truth Incarnate who came as the Light of the world. Yet the world preferred darkness and crucified the Truth because He taught the truth. This has been true over the centuries, so much so that one of the marks of the true Church is the opposition she has aroused among her enemies. The promise is heaven. Assurance of heaven in the future brings us
deep joy in the present. Yes take heart in the words of Jesus and speak and stand for the Truth in the Catholic Church.

scream-sxc924206_32902585“Blessed are you when men reproach you and persecute you and speaking falsely, say all manner of evil against you for my sake. Rejoice and exult, because your reward is great in Heaven; for so did they persecute the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5: 11-12).

Now enjoy reading the Eucharistic Miracle that follows, and then ask for the strength to be used by the Holy Spirit to bring a soul to the Lord by bring them to the Sacraments of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, especially the Eucharist.

Eucharistic Miracle of Krakow Poland 1345 (32)

casimir-iii-1-sizedThe Eucharistic miracle of Krakow relates to consecrated Hosts that emitted an unusual bright light when they were hidden by thieves in a muddy marsh. The thieves had stolen a monstrance containing consecrated Hosts from a church in the village of Wawel (outside of modern-day Krakow). They ultimately abandoned the monstrance and Hosts in a marsh outside of the village, where the miracle took place. The Church of Corpus Christi in Krakow, Poland contains paintings depicting the miracle as well as documents and depositions relating to the matter.

In the year 1345, King Casimar III the Great of Poland gave orders to build a church named Corpus Christi in honor of the Eucharistic miracle that was verified that same year. It had taken place in the village of Wawel, near Krakow. Some thieves broke into a little church (The Collegiate Church of All Saints), which was a short distance from Krakow. They forced their way into the tabernacle and stole the monstrance, which contained consecrated Hosts.

They got away, but when they figured out that the monstrance was not made of real gold, they threw it (including the Hosts) into the muddy marshland that was prevalent in the area. Priests from the church began a search, but they did not hold out much hope. When darkness fell, however, a mysterious light emanated from the spot where the treasure had been abandoned. Bright flashes of light were visible for several kilometers.

CasimirFrightened villagers approached the area and reported back to the Bishop of Krakow. The bishop called for three days of fasting and prayer. On the third day, he led a procession out to the marsh. There, they found the monstrance, and within it they found the Hosts, which were unbroken and were the source of the unusual lights. The people began to pray and to celebrate the miracle.

Annually on the occasion of the feast of Corpus Christi, the miracle is celebrated in the church of Corpus Christi in Krakow.

The Catholic Defender: TAKE THE TIME

Posted by Donald Hartley - August 27th, 2014

[iframe width="650" height="350" src="//" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe]

I Donald T. Hartley, the Catholic Defender, recently accepted the challenge to spend 30 minutes before the Blessed Eucharist, put forth by Bishop Hanna, Auxiliary Bishop of Baghdad, on 25 August 2014. The Challenge was to present myself before the Lord at the same time he was to make his adoration at 6:00 Baghdad time 26 August 2014 . I went at 10:00 central to show I met the challenge. I now want to issue my own challenge to keep the intent going.

Iraqi 2So today, 27 August 2014, I hereby challenge the following to take the time to give a minimum of 30 minutes, preferably 60 minutes to do Eucharistic Adoration within 7 days of this challenge. Once upon accepting the challenge to TAKE THE TIME, you are to name four other people to take the time. This for the suffering taking place in the Middle East. Pray for the Church Persecuted.

I challenge John Benko of Virginia, Fred Willians of Texas, Ross Hoffman of Idaho, and Cynthia Cerny of Colorado, to dedicate their time to intercede for the Church persecuted in the Middle East. May God give them strength and courage.

The Catholic Defender By Request: The Purpose Of Deepertruth

Posted by Donald Hartley - August 26th, 2014

DTBThe purpose of Deeper Truth is to provide a defense for the one fully true church of Christ. It is not designed to attack or hurt others.

We will speak boldly. We will not whitewash the truth.

Yes, we do believe that there is only 1 truth and the only place on earth where it can be found whole, complete, and uncorrupted is the Roman Catholic Church. Yes, we do feel that we can prove that case.

We can prove it historically, supernaturally, logically, practically and Biblically. And we will, make no mistake about that.

We believe that science and observation and reason are sufficient proofs of the existence of God. We also believe that reason and logic alone are sufficient causes for any human being to suspect that that God would have revealed Himself to us in some fashion. Further, we believe that He has and the historical, practical and supernatural proofs are beyond overwhelming that God has revealed, and continues to reveal, His will to us exclusively through the Roman Catholic Church, which He founded when He lived among us in the historical person of Jesus Christ.

deep-thoughtsWe believe that anyone who has totally given Himself to the whole and objective search for truth cannot help but be drawn towards the light of what the Apostle Paul called the Pillar and Foundation of all truth, that is the Catholic Church.

A mere 77 years after the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, when some of the young witnesses would still have been alive, St. Ignatius of Antioch said; “Where Christ is, there is His Catholic Church”.

Truer words were never spoken.

For those of you chomping at the bit to discuss (or dare you dream, refute) Catholic teaching, don’t worry, you will get your chance.

Here is what constitutes debate to me. You do not ignore my questions or evidences and simply move on to more questions and or accusations. You do not make accusations, purported as factual, without sufficient original evidence.

deepertruth 1That means that you do not make an accusation about what Catholics believe, do or have done or will do without providing an original, verifiable source that can be instantly accessed by any listener of the program.

If you characterize debate as an endless stream of unsupported accusations, you have come to the wrong place.

Here are some examples of what would constitute proof;

If you charge, as fact, that Catholics believe a particular thing, I will expect you to provide a link to an official Catholic source, citing it as a defined doctrine. Sources could include the Catechism of the Catholic Church or a document from a council. Links to anti- Catholic or non-Catholic sources that quote teachings out of context are insufficient.

I will gladly debate you on anything the Catholic Church actually has defined and teaches but I won’t waste my time arguing about what Dave Hunt or Jack Chick falsely claims that we teach.

False-Accusation-by-Anonymous-AccuserIf you charge, as purported fact, that a belief the church actually does have violates scripture or Christian teaching in some way, be prepared to not only support your arguments but to contest mine. I will debate via Scripture, history, tradition, practicality and logic. If you insist that the debate can only be on Scripture alone because you allege that Scripture is the only authority, I will insist that you provide scripture explicitly establishing that only the written word of God, as contained in a specific canon of books, can be accepted to the exclusion of all else.

Good luck.

If you charge, for example, that Catholic sexual abuse proves that the Catholic church cannot be the true church of God, I will expect you to provide empirical evidence that the rate of sexual abuse among Catholic priests is higher than ministers of other faiths or of the public at large.

The purpose of this show is to show you the truth. I will do so by basis of empirical evidence. If you truly want to see the truth, I can provide it. If you are simply unwilling to see the truth, I cannot help you.

That being said, we know that there are good people in all faiths and that many people of good will are genuinely confused about what Catholics believe and why they believe it.

I will start by giving you 30 basic precepts of what Catholics believe, as a foundation for us to build on. I will then explain exactly how this show will work.

deepertruth 21. We believe that by nature, science and reason alone, God has put sufficient light in every man to realize that the formation and expansion of life cannot possibly be by chance or random action. We believe that science, observation and simple human reason makes it impossible for anyone to truly doubt the existence of an intelligent designer. We believe that anyone who denies such a basic and undeniable fact, does so by force of pride or rebellion, not by force of intellect.

2. We believe that, hard-wired, by the creator, into every human being is a basic knowledge of right and wrong, good and evil. Man can choose to suppress this knowledge but he that will cause an intrinsic rebellion within him. Among this basic knowledge is the truth that murder, stealing, lying, violence, rape and homosexuality are disordered and objectively evil. Again, we believe anyone denying this knowledge isn’t doing so out of an intellectually arrived at position but out of rebellion or pain or pride. This knowledge is as basic as the knowledge that we need to breath, eat, drink, sleep, avoid pain and fight or flee danger. It is instinctive.

deepertruth 33. We believe that each person has in him an irresistible longing for God that battles against an unruly and unreasonable concupiscence. Concupiscence is man’s innate selfish desire. We Catholics define this concupiscence as original sin. Fully giving oneself over to the longing for God will lead to salvation. The most perfect completion of this being in the Catholic Church. A lifetime spent resisting this urge for God, in exchange for the longings of the flesh will lead to a lifetime of misery and-eventually- to an eternity of unimaginable suffering.

4. We believe this God has revealed Himself to us in very specific ways and through very specific people. These people include Prophets, Saints, Apostles and Old Testament Kings. The ways include Miracles and Signs, Sacred Scripture, public and private revelation, sacred tradition and the teachers He has appointed throughout the ages from Abraham to the current Magisterium of today’s Roman Catholic Church.

5. Because of #4, We believe anyone who claims to speak for God has an obligation to demonstrate credentials. We can do so in ways that no other church or religious entity on earth could even dare to claim.

Trinity 16. We believe this God has been revealed as a singular God who exists in 3 persons, the second of which also took on humanity. We believe this one triune God and only this one triune God is worthy of worship. Anyone who tells you that Catholics worship anyone but the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit is lying to you. It’s just that simple.

7. We believe that this God gave us a moral law that will never pass away and that every single person will face the judgment of God based on the moral law.

8. We believe that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Mosaic law.

9. We believe that Jesus Christ, by His life, suffering, death and Resurrection redeemed the world.

10. We believe the graces secured at Calvary are sufficient for the removal of all sin.

11. We believe that salvation is by Christ alone.

12. We believe that salvation is by grace alone.

13. We believe that man must participate in his own salvation and that no man or woman has ever been saved, or ever will be saved by faith alone. That the Bible clearly refutes the doctrine of Salvation by Faith alone is clear almost to the point of excess. Anybody who tells you that man is saved by faith alone is simply repeating a man-made lie, whether or not they may actually believe it.

keysrevelation (1)14. We believe that Jesus Christ created a church that is the Pillar and Foundation of all truth, just as the Bible states. That we have an infallible Bible (and we do) is only because an infallible church gave it to us. That church-and only that Church- is fully and completely entrusted by God with the Scriptures and the Truths of Religion. Everyone else is guessing, to greater or less success, all falling short of the fullness of the truth of Catholicism. In fact…..

15. We believe that, in truth, there is only one true church. Catholic means Universal and we affirm that every single baptized Christian is a member-knowing or unknowing, willing or unwilling- of the Catholic Church and accountable, to the extent of the light of faith within them, to her teachings.

16. We affirm the infallibility and inspiration of Scripture and that all Scripture is useful for reproof, teaching and training in holiness. Nevertheless, we reject the notion of Sola Scriptura and hold the notion of practical sufficiency and the SELF interpretation of Scripture to be self-refuting, untenable nonsense.

17. We hold the teaching authority of the Church, the Sacred tradition of the fathers, and Holy Scripture to all be necessary parts of the Church.

18. We do not believe that any of the members of the Catholic Church are Impeccable, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Divine, Eternal or, in any way, shape, manner or form equal with God. This includes past, present and future members of the Catholic Church. We believe that all members of the Church had to be saved from the stain of original sin by God’s Sanctifying Grace.

Mary Grace19. We believe that Mary was saved by Sanctifying grace from her Mother’s womb, as was John the Baptist. We believe we can prove this scripturally.

20. We do not believe that Mary is God. Anyone who tells you that Catholics worship Mary is a liar. We do believe that She is the MOTHER of God and to deny this is to deny the Incarnation. We also believe that She fulfills the Biblical roles of the Queen Mother, The Ark of the Covenant, the Mother of Christians, the Woman clothed with the Sun and a co-mediatrix, co-redemtrix and advocate that in no manner contradicts 1 Timothy 2:5.

21. We believe that Jesus gave the Catholic clergy the power to anoint, to bind and loose, to preach and interpret Scripture and to forgive sins.

22. We believe that not one soul is saved by any other name than Jesus, even those saved who never heard His name.

23. We believe that not one soul that is saved is not saved by the merits Jesus gives through His Catholic Church, even those who don’t come to fully understand and accept it.

24. We believe that Jesus meant what He said in the 6th chapter of John’s Gospel and that each consecrated host contains the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.

Bible 225. We believe that only the full canon of Scripture as defined by the Catholic Church, 73 books, constitutes a complete Bible and only one carrying an Imprimatur is free from doctrinal error.

26. We reject the doctrine of the Rapture and believe that Christians will have to endure the great tribulation.

27. We reject a strictly futurist view of books like John’s Revelation.

The prophecies concerning the great harlot in Revelation 17-18, for instance, refer to the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.

28. We reject the assertion that the Israel of today’s world is the Israel of Scripture and find the assertion absurd and untenable. The Church is the new Israel. The Jewish Israel of Scripture is gone, dead, kaput…no more. There is no more temple and will never be. There are no more prophets nor will ever be, no more sacrifice, no more kings, no more Jerusalem. The city is Babylon and a Spiritual Sodom. Revelation 11:8.

29. We reject the doctrine that only Catholics can be saved. God will save who He will. That someone cannot reach the fullness of truth, through their honest efforts, will not be held against him. Those who knowingly reject the truth will perish in their sin and be damned. God will judge all by their works- PERIOD.

cd 530. We do not believe that lying in defense of one’s beliefs, as anti-catholics do, is a virtue but a violation of the commandments of God. We trust that these subjects and more will make for lively, spirited and- we hope- civil debate.

Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. ~ John 15:20

From St. Ignatius of Antioch, Bishop and Martyr (follower of Jesus Christ through St. John the Apostle and ordained Bishop of Antioch by St. Peter)

See that ye all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as ye would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is[administered] either See that ye all follow the bishop, even as Christ Jesus does the Father, and the presbytery as ye would the apostles. Do ye also reverence the deacons, as those that carry out[through their office] the appointment of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is[administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude[of the people] also be;

ignatius 1Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude[of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.(2) even as where Christ is, there does all the heavenly host stand by, waiting upon Him as the Chief Captain of the Lord’s might, and the Governor of every intelligent nature. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize, or to offer, or to present sacrifice, or to celebrate a love-feast.(1) But that which seems good to him, is also well-pleasing to God, that everything ye do may be secure and valid.

The Catholic Defender: Reverends Sharpton and Jackson

Posted by Donald Hartley - August 25th, 2014

Martin-Luther-King-Jr.-zumwaltPresident Barack Obama once exclaimed that Reverend Al Sharpton was “the voice of the voiceless and a champion for the downtrodden”. Jesse Jackson once marched with Dr. Martin Luther King standing up for the down trodden. What happened to these two men who goes by the title “Reverend?”

First of all, the title “Reverend” is used to address members of the Clergy. At a time when the Liberal Democratic Party wants to go after churches for getting involved in politics from the pulpit, especially conservatives, if a Priest speaks out on abortion, they are coming after you. If a Minister speaks out against Gay Marriage, they are coming after you.  But if your a minority then you don’t have to worry about the IRS.

Both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were ordained as Baptist Ministers and neither of them are known for serving a congregation. Actually, Jackson was ordained a Baptist minister in 1968, though he had not finished his course work at Chicago Theological Seminary (CTS), having instead left in 1966 to commit himself full-time to the Civil Rights movement.

Sharpton 1As a child, Sharpton became an ordained minister and was known as the “boy wonder” preacher of the Washington Temple Church of God. What happened to the “boy wonder”? Recently on MSNBC, Al Sharpton omitted God out of the Pledge of Allegiance: “I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.”

Sharpton was quick to place in the blank his support of the gay agenda. This is really becoming the meat and potatoes of why I am writing this article. Neither Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson have ever served as Ministers of any Church congregation. They both have been involved with civil rights. And their version of civil rights.

If you are a black conservative who stands up for traditional American values, will they receive support from either Sharpton or Jackson? Without their support, would they receive support from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)?

Jesse Jackson at Trayvon Martin protest marchThe media is very selective in their coverage of the news with a one way slant to liberal causes. So when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson decides to get involved with cases such as Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, so does the media.

In both these cases, Sharpton and Jackson both have become involved creating a circus atmosphere surrounding the cases. I first want to state that it is a horrible situation to have young people regardless of color to loose their lives so senselessly. This is a tragic situation with no easy solutions when they happen.

Florida and the Country will never forget the trial that the Black Panthers and other left wing liberals such as Sharpton and Jackson demanded regardless of the truth of Trayvon Martin. They were walking on a fine line in Florida because the vast majority of those defending themselves were actually blacks defending themselves from other blacks.

black on blackBlack on black crime is very prevalent especially in the streets of Chicago. The media is silent and we do not see Sharpton or Jackson coming out speaking against those problems.

The current tragedy, the Michael Brown case has erupted with several days of violence in the street calling for the arrest of Police Officer Darren Wilson. Watching the national news daily, we see the looting, the threats of violence, the nightly arrests of protesters as they converge on the town of Forester Missouri just outside of St. Louis.

Both Sharpton and Jackson arrived there to which added flames to the fire as they did in the Trayvon Martin case. What I really think is so sad about all of this is the potential of good they can actually bring. But their left wing agenda does not permit them to speak on the root causes of what is going on.

Black family..The black family has all but deteriorated that over 70% of black babies are born out of wedlock. The destruction of the black family is a serious root cause leading black youths to turn to violence and live a life devoid of right and wrong. To many young black boys are being raised without a strong Father figure.

At one time, the black family made the difference when blacks were persecuted in this Country. The Black family in the 1960′s were far more stronger compared to today. Dr. Martin Luther King to me is a hero in that he gave his life for the cause of freedom for all Americans, based from a Christianity that was more real than the pretended “Reverends” Sharpton and Jackson.

The jury is still out on the current Michael Brown case, I have heard two versions of what happened and I will wait for the grand jury’s recommendation and finding to see if a trial is warranted. Michael Brown’s death was senseless and totally unacceptable, but who is truly at fault? What really happened there? Did Officer Darren Wilson murder Michael Brown as the nightly mob is demonstrating, or did the Officer shoot in self defense?

Obama bowingPresident Obama has declared war on Catholics and other Christians and Sharpton and Jackson continue to be very silent about Christian civil rights. The NAACP has become a left wing entity that has long ago dropped the idea of standing up for blacks in this country. They are more concerned for their political agenda and lost base with what their original foundation was meant to provide.  As soon as Obama changed his perspective on Gay Marriage, the NAACP was not long in their liberal support?

I remember there was a Republican debate that Alan Keyes, who was a presidential contender, was prevented from participating in this debate. Jackson was silent! If Alan Keyes had been a liberal Democrat would there have been any doubt the NAACP would have been all over that?

The saga of Michael Brown, the American tragedy is that his death would be in vain. Black teenagers currently are unemployed at nearly 50%, this coupled with the fact that many have no Fathers who are being responsible, this will be the result.

Consider the following:

children abandonedOver the past thirty years, the rise in violent crime parallels the rise in families abandoned by fathers.

High-crime neighborhoods are characterized by high concentrations of families abandoned by fathers.

State-by-state analysis by Heritage scholars indicates that a 10 percent increase in the percentage of children living in single-parent homes leads typically to a 17 percent increase in juvenile crime.

The rate of violent teenage crime corresponds with the number of families abandoned by fathers.

The type of aggression and hostility demonstrated by a future criminal often is foreshadowed in unusual aggressiveness as early as age five or six.

The future criminal tends to be an individual rejected by other children as early as the first grade who goes on to form his own group of friends, often the future delinquent gang.

On the other hand:

children abandoned 1Neighborhoods with a high degree of religious practice are not high-crime neighborhoods.

Even in high-crime inner-city neighborhoods, well over 90 percent of children from safe, stable homes do not become delinquents. By contrast only 10 percent of children from unsafe, unstable homes in these neighborhoods avoid crime.

Criminals capable of sustaining marriage gradually move away from a life of crime after they get married.

The mother’s strong affectionate attachment to her child is the child’s best buffer against a life of crime.

The father’s authority and involvement in raising his children are also a great buffer against a life of crime.

Sharpton? Jackson? Where are you? Even now, Sharpton called Brown’s death a “seminal moment in the country.” He said the “nation needs to come to terms with the fact that something is wrong in America when money is provided to give military equipment to police, but there isn’t enough money for public schools.”

Funeral Held For Teen Shot To Death By Police In Ferguson, MONotice that Sharpton took the opportunity to go after the Police officer, “police officers who are wrong need to be dealt with.” He is adding fuel to the fire causing a rush to judgment. The Officer is guilty by mod rules and the rule of law be damned.

Michael Brown’s father actually said far more today asking for a day of peace and calm while his son was laid to rest. That should have been something that Sharpton should have called for.

I will wait for the truth to come out before I can rest my mind on the issue, but what is clear is that more should be done to give guidance and hope for all Americans. Instead of being glued to a liberal ideology, our government should seek to find solutions from the private sector, from church groups who work with troubled youths, that can make a difference.

Bring back the institution of the sacredness of holy matrimony, between a man and a woman. Bring back the constitutional right to worship God in freedom and bring back our liberties lost due to the Obama Administration and judicial activism.

Jesus picCivil rights should be for all Americans and as Americans, we all have the right to speak out. But there should be responsibility among those who have been graced with position of influence to stand up for all. This would include for the white teenager shot and killed by a black police officer. The point made is would you have heard of this if I didn’t mention it? We need to help all teenagers of all colors. In all cases, we need to utilize the court system, not the court of national opinion.

Lord Jesus Christ, King of the universe, look with mercy on those who rule over us. Grant to our President and his administration the grace to know and do your will. Let them serve all their subjects in truth and righteousness. Inspire our Congressmen with the courage to make laws for the good of all rather than the few. Give our Judges your Spirit of wisdom and understanding that they may discern the truth and impartially administer the law. And let all the people pitch in to make our way of government continue to work. Amen.
