The Catholic Defender: Religious Freedom Under Assault

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 31st, 2015

Great-Quotes-001The Constitution of the United States have been under assault for several years as liberalism continues to become entrenched in America. Christians are going to bear the blunt of religious intolerance as the bible will be greatly moved from society.

The issue that the Indiana law tried to address was the support of the religious freedom that the Constitution guarantees. The practice of religious freedom was the foundation that led to the Constitution.

The ultra left wing liberals have taken over the political will of the Democratic Party. Everything from public rest rooms to enforcing participation for business to support the lifestyles of the Gay Agenda.

If you have seen the movie, Remember The Titans, it is the story of a football team that struggled through the hard times of bringing Blacks and Whites together to form a winning team. In this movie there is a scene where members of the football team went into a restaurant finding racial bigotry alive and well.

Today, we have moved away from that kind of bigotry except in small circles on both sides. Over all, much has been done despite the media uproar over events like Ferguson Missouri. A White police officer shooting a Black young man made front line news for weeks causing riots all over the Country.

ferguson-riotsYet, when a Black police officer shoots a White young man, the story is buried. Liberalism has an agenda and if your not covered by their agenda, you are the target.

That is the case with the Gay and Lesbian agenda today. The Government has turned from supporting family and our foundations to cave in to the liberal agenda. Today, many of the academics in our higher places of learning have branched down into the public school level and even younger conditioning our Country for the new Socialist agenda.

The attack on the American family is becoming more apparent in all the States. The new redefinition of family is a deprogramming process that any enemy of America would employ, we are doing this ourselves from within. It has always been understood that America would not fall from a foreign power, but would be susceptible from the moral decline from within.

The attack on human life through abortion, the attack on family life through divorce and the Gay Agenda is creating a society that is void of morals. This is no accident. Can you imagine in any place in America that Homosexuals can grope each other in a booth but you will not be welcome to read the Bible or talk of our faith experience.

Gays 4There is a huge difference from going into any restaurant that have every race of people sharing the freedom to take their families to enjoy themselves from going into a place where people will not care about children or others who do not want to be around radical Homosexual behavior.

The Gay Agenda has sought for years to push their lifestyle on everyone, I am not personally ready to go to any public place and see Homosexuals groping each other passionately. When we get to the point where their is open defiance against God, there is a problem.

Our laws protect business as well as the family. There were laws such as no shoes, no shirts, no business. Any behavior that is rude and crude and socially unexceptionable should be any business right. The no smoking laws are very similar, this can be considered anti-social.

Gays acting gay is anti-social in an improper manner. Racial slurs are anti-social and should not be tolerated. The issues related to the Indiana law is to protect Christians who do not want to expose their children or willingly participate in behavior that is sinful.

Recently, it was reported that a Washington Grandmother, Barronelle Stutzman who is seventy years old may lose her home and life savings. How did she become an enemy of the State that her livelihood and freedom would be so threatened?

Because she refused to sell flowers to support a gay wedding. The attack on Christians are coming from this White House like never before.

attack 1Remember when a District Court Judge (Alan M. Malott) from New Mexico, ordered a Christian photographer (Elaine and Jon Huguenin of Elane Photography) to pay $6,600 for refusing to take pictures of a Sodomite (Gay) Marriage ceremony?

The Attacks on religious freedom in America is becoming more evident, recently in Colorado, a Christian Baker lost a court decision when Gay Activists wanted to force the baker to make a “wedding cake” for the “gay marriage”? The court sited that a Discrimination Act trumped the Baker’s Constitutional freedom of religion rights. This ruling happened despite the fact that in Colorado, Gay Marriage is still illegal?

I remember in 1993, when then President Bill Clinton wanted to allow gays in the Military. The opposition was so strong that Clinton tabled the whole idea for several months before coming out with his “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” policy. The United States public school system began a systematic effort to change American core values by pushing a tolerance towards homosexuality. So much so that frictions developed as the liberal positions held an intolerant view towards Christians.

Family_Facts_Heritage_Religious_LibertyRetired Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin of the Family Research Council—one of the leaders of a new religious liberty coalition for the military observed, “A chaplain has been censored for expressing his beliefs about the role of faith in the lives of service members… Why do we have chaplains if they aren’t allowed to fulfill that purpose?” The various Secular associations have been seeking to abandon the Chaplain core on the Military.

Consider that on July 29, 1775, Congress authorizes a chaplain for each regiment and appoints Colonel William Tudor as the first Judge Advocate. This is the birthday of the Chaplain Corps and the Judge Advocate General Corps.

Christianity is under attack by the Current White House threatening the very fabric of the United States Constitution. Again, Judicial activists are taking away the voice of the people; in Arizona, Christians are being forced to act as photographers at gay weddings, in Colorado Christians are being forced to bake cakes for gay weddings, in New York home owners who offer their place for weddings are being forced to allow gay weddings all from judicial activism. The freedom of religion is being trumped by those who want to transform America by fiat.

This is what the Indiana law is suppose to protect, our religious freedom that the Constitution guarantees and protect them from frivolous lawsuits coming from Gay activist.

AIDSvu (1)Consider the following situation that is taking place in Atlanta Georgia right now? Epidemiologist Dr. Patrick Sullivan states, “The ways to help avert new HIV infections is to intensify our efforts in those communities that are most heavily impacted by HIV…”

Dr. Sullivan plotted the HIV infection rates in the Atlanta area to show the seriousness of the epidemic in this area, he states, “Plotting HIV infection rates is essential to targeting the epidemic”.  He’s behind the newly-released AIDSvu map, which visualizes HIV/AIDS rates by ZIP code.

Notice how the inner city is in critical mass. This is largely the Black community. Lifestyle matters.

When you visualize the HIV/AIDS rates by ZIP code, it is obvious that the metro Atlanta area is the hardest affected by HIV. Dr. Sullivan relates the HIV/AIDS carriers longevity of life due to medications.

This is affecting something like 3 people out of a hundred. “The average cost of HIV treatment is $14,000 to $20,000 a year,” says Michael Kolber, MD, a professor of medicine and director of the Comprehensive AIDS Program and Adult HIV Services at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Florida. “If you’re paying $1,000 a month, you’re doing really well.” This is for one person, can you imagine the cost for all AIDS patients and why they want us to pay for it? When it is the lifestyle that is responsible for the epidemic?

We need to pray for conversion of America back to the God of our fathers.

The Catholic Defender: Mary Appeared In The Philippines 1985 Saving Many

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 29th, 2015

virgin-maryTonight on Deepertruth Radio, John Carpenter and I (The Catholic Defender) will be sharing Mother Mary’s appearance in the Philippines 1985.

Cardinal Sin told Wayne Weible, noted Journalist who reported Medjugorje that ultimate converted to the Catholic Faith, “It began in February, 1986, as the virtual twenty-year dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos came to an abrupt and unexpected end through a series of strange events. Corazon Aquino, the widow and reluctant political replacement of slain opposition leader Ninoy Aquino, had won the presidential election. In a stunning upset, she was elected by an overwhelming margin in the snap election, called for by Marcos himself. The Cardinal pointed out that Marcos had called for elections in order to crush the building opposition. However, through ballot box stuffing and other illegal activities, plus a total control of the media, Marcos flagrantly had himself declared the winner…

The rigged election results were blatant and obvious to neutral observers and also to the people. Within days, millions took to the streets of Makati and Manila, spurred to action when a dissatisfied segment of the military launched an unexpected coup attempt…. Marcos responded to the rebellion and coup attempt by sending tanks down the streets of the city. He was determined to maintain his grip on the country, even if it meant massacre of the swelling crowds.

As a full convoy of tanks and other armament manned by hard-core militant soldiers came against millions of civilians, many of whom were virtually lying down in the streets in front of the tanks, Marcos gave the order to fire on the people.

Cardinal Sin leaned forward in his chair, smiling. ‘What I am telling you now was told tome by many of these same soldiers who were ready to fire on the people.  The tanks were trying to penetrate the crowd. And the people were praying and showing their rosaries. That is when, according to these soldiers, the Marines who were riding on top of the tanks, the so-called Loyalists (to Marcos), they saw up in the clouds the form of the cross. The many sisters had tried to stop them, but they (the soldiers) told me they had already decided to obey instruction and push through. It is now just a question of ten minutes or so. You push the trigger and there you are — everybody will be dead.’

Mary in blueAgain, the Cardinal leaned forward. ‘Then, a beautiful lady appeared to them. I don’t know if she appeared in the sky or was standing down on the ground. (Others would later tell me they thought she was a nun, dressed in blue, and that she was standing in front of the tanks.) So beautiful she was, and her eyes were sparkling. And the beautiful lady spoke to them like this: ‘Dear soldiers, stop! Do not proceed! Do not harm my children! And when they heard that, the soldiers put down everything. They came down from the tanks and they joined the people. So, that was the end of the Loyalists.’

Cardinal Sin paused, turning his hands upward. ‘I don’t know who these soldiers are. All I know is that they came here crying to me. They did not tell me that is was the Virgin. They told me only that it was beautiful sister. But you know, I have seen all the sisters in Manila, and there are no beautiful ones. So it must have been the Virgin!’

What a story — and what a sense of humor! Here was a powerful figure of the Philippine Catholic Church, able to add such a wonderful touch to another stunning supernatural visit by Our Lady. But being a journalist, I (Wayne Weible) had to ask: ‘Cardinal, do you really believe it was Our Lady that the people and the soldiers saw?’

Cardinal Sin did not hesitate. ‘Yes, My heart was telling me, this was Mary. And since they obeyed this woman who appeared to them and did not follow orders and fire on the people, then Marcos had nobody anymore. So, he had to flee. That was the end of him.’ ….

Adding to the incredibility of the entire story was the fact that Cardinal Sin had met with Sister Lucia the last living visionary of Fatima, in Portugal, just before his trip to the United States and the press conference where he first told the story of the Blessed Virgin’s appearance. Although living in a cloistered convent, Sister Lucia know everything about the Philippine revolution. She had no access to newspapers, magazines, or television. Yet, she related all of the details to the Cardinal She then told him that Corazon Aquino was a gift to the Philippines from God, and that if she could maintain peace and democracy there for a period of two or more years, that nation would be influential in leading China to Christianity.”

Tonight John Carpenter and I will discuss this and more, showtime tonight (3/29/2015) begins at 8:00 P.M. Central. You can listen here

The Catholic Defender: The Four Last Things Part 4, Heaven

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 28th, 2015

Four last thingsLast night 3/37/2015, on our radio show, The Last Four Things, I reported the testimony of a Catholic Priest, Father Jose Maniyangat.

He is the current Pastor of St. Mary’s Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Macclenny, Florida. Just for a little background, Father Mahayanist is known as the Motorcycle Priest, was in a serious accident on April 14, 1985.

In this article, I will place his vision of Purgatory and Heaven, his vision of Hell I have placed in the preceding article, The Four Last Things Part 3, Hell. The following is his quick bio and then his testimony:

“I was born on July 16, 1949 in Kerala, India to my parents, Joseph and Theresa Maniyangat. I am the eldest of seven children: Jose, Mary, Theresa, Lissama, Zachariah, Valsa and Tom.. At the age of fourteen, I entered St. Mary’s Minor Seminary in Thiruvalla to begin my studies for the priesthood. Four years later, I went to St. Joseph’s Pontifical Major Seminary in Alwaye, Kerala to continue my priestly formation. After completing the seven years of philosophy and theology, I was ordained a priest on January 1, 1975 to serve as a missionary in the Diocese of Thiruvalla. On Sunday April 14, 1985, the Feast of the Divine Mercy, I was going to celebrate Mass at a mission church in the north part of Kerala, and I had a fatal accident. I was riding a motorcycle when I was hit head-on by a jeep driven by a man who was intoxicated after a Hindu festival. I was rushed to a hospital about 35 miles away. On the way, my soul came out from my body and I experienced death. Immediately, I met my Guardian Angel. I saw my body and the people who were carrying me to the hospital. I heard them crying and praying for me. At this time my angel told me: “I am going to take you to Heaven, the Lord wants to meet you and talk with you.” He also said that, on the way, he wanted to show me hell and purgatory.”

purgatory(Editors note: I decided to include Father Maniyangat’s vison of Purgatory here because those souls there are saved and will be in Heaven for ever. It is our expressed intent that people will continue to pray for those poor souls in Purgatory.)

“My Guardian Angel escorted me to purgatory. Here too, there are seven degrees of suffering and unquenchable fire. But it is far less intense than hell and there was neither quarreling nor fighting. The main suffering of these souls is their separation from God. Some of those who are in purgatory committed numerous mortal sins, but they were reconciled with God before their death. Even though these souls are suffering, they enjoy peace and the knowledge that one day they will see God face to face. I had a chance to communicate with the souls in purgatory. They asked me to pray for them and to tell the people to pray for them as well, so they can go to heaven quickly. When we pray for these souls, we will receive their gratitude through their prayers, and once they enter heaven, their prayers become even more meritorious. It is difficult for me to describe how beautiful my Guardian Angel is. He is radiant and bright. He is my constant companion and helps me in all my ministries, especially my healing ministry. I experience his presence everywhere I go and I am grateful for his protection in my daily life.

heaven 3Next, my angel escorted me to heaven passing through a big dazzling white tunnel. I never experienced this much peace and joy in my life. Then immediately heaven opened up and I heard the most delightful music, which I never heard before. The angels were singing and praising God. I saw all the saints, especially the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph, and many dedicated holy Bishops and priests who were shining like stars. And when I appeared before the Lord, Jesus told me: “I want you to go back to the world. In your second life, you will be an instrument of peace and healing to My people. You will walk in a foreign land and you will speak in a foreign tongue. Everything is possible for you with My grace..” After these words, the Blessed Mother told me: “Do whatever He tells you. I will help you in your ministries.” Words can not express the beauty of heaven.. There we find so much peace and happiness, which exceed a million times our imagination. Our Lord is far more beautiful than any image can convey. His face is radiant and luminous and more beautiful than a thousand rising suns. The pictures we see in the world are only a shadow of His magnificence.. The Blessed Mother was next to Jesus; She was so beautiful and radiant. None of the images we see in this world can compare with Her real beauty. Heaven is our real home; we are all created to reach heaven and enjoy God forever. Then, I came back to the world with my angel.”

Father M(Editors note: The following is what took place following the visions of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory:

“While my body was at the hospital, the doctor completed all examinations and I was pronounced dead. The cause of death was bleeding. My family was notified, and since they were far away, the hospital staff decided to move my dead body to the morgue. Because the hospital did not have air conditioners, they were concerned that the body would decompose quickly. As they were moving my dead body to the morgue, my soul came back to the body.

I felt an excruciating pain because of so many wounds and broken bones. I began to scream, and then the people became frightened and ran away screaming. One of them approached the doctor and said: “The dead body is screaming.” The doctor came to examine the body and found that I was alive. So he said: “Father is alive, it is a miracle! Take him back to the hospital.” Now, back at the hospital, they gave me blood transfusions and I was taken to surgery to repair the broken bones. They worked on my lower jaw, ribs, pelvic bone, wrists, and right leg.

FideiDefensor_image4After two months, I was released from the hospital, but my orthopedic doctor said that I would never walk again. I then said to him: “The Lord who gave me my life back and sent me back to the world will heal me.” Once at home, we were all praying for a miracle. Still after a month, and with the casts removed, I was not able to move. But one day while praying I felt an extraordinary pain in my pelvic area.

After a short while the pain disappeared completely and I heard a voice saying: “You are healed. Get up and walk.” I felt the peace and healing power on my body. I immediately got up and walked. I praised and thanked God for the miracle. I reached my doctor with the news of my healing, and he was amazed. He said: “Your God is the true God. I must follow your God.” The doctor was Hindu, and he asked me to teach him about our Church. After studying the Faith, I baptized him and he became Catholic. Following the message from my Guardian Angel, I came to the United States on November 10, 1986 as a missionary priest…. Since June 1999, I have been pastor of St. Mary’s Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Macclenny, Florida.”

enochI was thinking of Father Maniyangat’s thoughts on what he said of Heaven, “Words can not express the beauty of heaven.. There we find so much peace and happiness, which exceed a million times our imagination.” I recall St. Paul writing, ”I must boast; there is nothing to be gained by it, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven–whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. And I know that this man was caught up into Paradise–whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows–and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.” 2 Corinthians 12:1-4

St. Paul would also write, “But, as it is written, ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him, God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:9-10

2 Corinthians 5:1-10 really spells it out for all of us, “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Here indeed we groan, and long to put on our heavenly dwelling, so that by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we sigh with anxiety; not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always of good courage; we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body.”

www.thebookofrevelation.netThe Four Last Things, Death, Judgement, Hell, and Heaven are realities we must all face.  Except Hell, that is not a necessary place, we have the freedom to bypass Hell.  We are all cordially invited to spend an eternity in Heaven with God.  Jesus will Judge the living and the dead at the end of time.  We are given free will to serve the Lord in this life so that we can have ever lasting life in Heaven with all the Saints.  Choose well my friends, Jesus gives this warning:  “Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.  For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.   ”Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”   Matthew 7:13-14

The only sure way to Salvation is through the Catholic Church, the Church founded by Christ, Commissioned by Christ to teach and administer God’s truth and grace to all the nations.

The Catholic Defender: The Four Last Things Part 3, Hell

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 28th, 2015

Four last thingsOn Fatima childrenJuly 13, 1917, Our Lady of Fatima appeared to the Children, Lucia, Francisco, and little Jacinta in the usual ordinary way that they had witnessed the Virgin Mary’s earlier arrivals May 13th and June 13th, 1917.

“She opened Her hands once more, as She had done the two previous months. The rays [of light] appeared to penetrate the earth, and we saw, as it were, a vast sea of fire. Plunged in this fire, we saw the demons and the souls [of the damned]. The latter were like transparent burning embers, all blackened or burnished bronze, having human forms. They were floating about in that conflagration, now raised into the air by the flames which issued from within themselves, together with great clouds of smoke. Now they fell back on every side like sparks in huge fires, without weight or equilibrium, amid shrieks and groans of pain and despair, which horrified us and made us tremble with fright (it must have been this sight which caused me to cry out, as people say they heard me). The demons were distinguished [from the souls of the damned] by their terrifying and repellent likeness to frightful and unknown animals, black and transparent like burning coals. That vision only lasted for a moment, thanks to our good Heavenly Mother, Who at the first apparition had promised to take us to Heaven. Without that, I think that we would have died of terror and fear.”

Jacinta would later say that Mother Mary revealed to her that more souls go to hell because of the sins of the flesh than any other reason.

St. John Bosco relates a similar message in a in a vision given to him: “Bad companions, bad books, and bad habits,” my guide exclaimed, “are mainly responsible for so many eternally lost.”

St. Paul warns, “Do not be led astray: Bad company corrupts good morals. Become sober as you ought and stop sinning. For some have no knowledge of God…”

HellDaniel 12:2-3 states,“Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; Some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace. But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, And those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever.”

From the Mass, we sing, “Save us, Savior of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.” Jesus is our Deliverer from captivity. When you are within the clutches of evil, the Devil brings his environment. He is weaving a huge web and like a spider, seeks to engulf you within his power.

The Devil uses war and abuse, hunger and slavery. He uses everything he can to take our eyes off of Jesus. Hence the warnings coming from the Bible, Our Lady of Fatima, and St. John Bosco.

Of the Catholic Faith, St. Peter writes, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were no people but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10

Timothy (1)2 Timothy 2:22 states, “So turn from youthful desires and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord with purity of heart.”

St. Paul warns, “But understand this: there will be terrifying times in the last days, People will be self-centered and lovers of money, proud, haughty, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, irreligious, callous, implacable, slanderous, licentious, brutal, hating what is good, traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, as they make a pretense of religion but deny it;s Power. Reject them.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5

1 Timothy 4:1-2 states, “Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences.”

Consider the war on the Christians by the Obama administration, all the public scandals taking place that is being covered up by the mainstream media. The war on the Christians coming from the Universities across America, the war on the family. All of this is playing a part leading many to go into exile, away from the Church.

confession 3It is time for Christians to take a stand against the rising tide of evil hitting our world. Jesus gives the Church the great commission, “Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

James 5:19-20 states, “My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”

Our Lady of Fatima would tell the Children of Fatima, “You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end (World War I); but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the pontificate of Pius XI (World War II). When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that he is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father.”

mary 38“To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me and she will be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.”

It is very important that people cease to offend Our Lord, there are many who make attacks against the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Luke 2:35): the Immaculate Conception (Luke 1:28); against Mary’s Virginity (John 19:26); against her Divine Maternity (Mother of God) (Revelation 12:5) and her spiritual motherhood of mankind (Revelation 12:17); for the offences of those who encourage in the hearts of children indifference, contempt and even hatred of her, and finally as reparation for those who outrage her in her holy images.

We contend with all of this on a daily basis on Facebook because of the many attacks on Mary by those who claim to love Jesus. That really makes no sense, but then, nothing that is happening today makes any sense as it seams the world has gone crazy.

Vienny (1)We here at Deepertruth want to encourage you to lift high the cross of Christ and to grow in love of our holy Faith. To contend for it (Jude 3).

Jesus gives this message, “Blessed are they who wash their robes so as to have the right to the tree of life and enter the city through it’s gates. Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the unchaste, the murderers, the idol-worshipers, and all who love and practice deceit.”

There is a heaven and there is a hell, there is no escaping it. However, heaven is a place of great reward. Please pray for America and all that is happening today in the world, especially the Middle East.

The following is an interesting testimony of Father Jose Maniyangat. He is the current Pastor of St. Mary’s Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Macclenny, Florida. This is taken from a vision he had of Hell:

maniyangatThe angel escorted me to hell. It was an awful sight! I saw Satan and the devils, an unquenchable fire of about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, worms crawling, people screaming and fighting, others being tortured by demons. The angel told me that all these sufferings were due to unrepented mortal sins. Then, I understood that there are seven degrees of suffering or levels according to the number and kinds of mortal sins committed in their earthly lives. The souls looked very ugly, cruel and horrific. It was a fearful experience. I saw people whom I knew, but I am not allowed to reveal their identities. The sins that convicted them were mainly abortion, homosexuality, euthanasia, hatefulness, unforgiveness and sacrilege. The angel told me that if they had repented, they would have avoided hell and gone instead to purgatory. I also understood that some people who repent from these sins might be purified on earth through their sufferings. This way they can avoid purgatory and go straight to heaven. I was surprised when I saw in hell even priests and Bishops, some of whom I never expected to see. Many of them were there because they had misled the people with false teaching and bad example.

The Catholic Defender: The Four Last Things Part 2, Judgement

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 27th, 2015

Four last thingsAt the end of time when the Lord Jesus Christ returns, he will judge the living and the dead. We will all have to face this judgment.

Psalms 1:1-6 states, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by the streams of water, that yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor the sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish”.

I have heard many times people quoting Matthew 7:2, “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get”.  Instead of this being a verse of warning to those who “judge”, it becomes for many a scapegoat or license to sin.

When you present something clearly shown in the scripture as sin, the response is “Do not Judge”. There is a fine line between judging a person to hell, from judging what is right and wrong in a person’s life.

If the people of Nineveh would have told Jonah not to “judge” them, they would have been destroyed.

LionsIn fact, in the Old Testament the prophets were killed by the people because they spoke the Word of God and the people rebelled.

The real purpose of this writing is more for self inventory, we need to look at ourselves and see how we measure up to the teaching of Christ.

We know there is a “Personal Judgment” when a person dies and then there will be the “General Judgment” at the Parousia when Jesus returns at the end of time.

Jesus states, “You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not kill; and whoesoever kills shall be liable to judgment’. But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift”.

From this scripture, it is a judgment of the heart. We must work towards forgiveness and that is not always easy. We must condition ourselves as this requires work. It requires surrender to God’s will, it requires our readiness to serve God with a clean heart. An upright heart. It is a condition of the heart.

What are going to be some issues that will bring down judgment?

judgement 1Matthew 10:12-15 states, “As you enter the house, salute it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And if any one will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town. Truly, I say to you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town”.

What is the meaning here? It is obvious that judgment will be more severe for those who have more opportunity to hear and see the truth.

The more that a person is given the more accountability there will be. Jesus teaches this point very clearly Matthew 12:38-42, “Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to him, ‘Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you’. But he answered them,’An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign; but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Johah. For as Jonah was three days and three night in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of Man be three days and three night in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the South will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here”.

JudgementWe have the revelation of Jesus Christ and his Catholic Church which is the voice of the Lord until Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church is graced with many signs and wonders of the Lord Jesus Christ for the sake of his people, the Church.

Even so, many will refuse to obey the Church? People will not obey the Word of the Lord. Many will reject the works of the Lord,

Matthew 11:20-21 states, “Then he began to upbraid the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. Woe to you Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes”.

I have more than once, been told that someone would not beleive unless Mother Mary would appear to them. They have abandoned Chrisitianity for secular science.

In the last times a great deception would challenge many people to fall from their Faith. No question about it, secular humanism has had a terrible impact on our society and judgment is coming.

St. Peter warns about this scurge saying, “First of all you must understand this, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own passions and saying, ‘Where is the promise of his coming” (2 Peter 3:3-4)?

The signs of the Lord are many, Marian Apparitions, Eucharistic Miracles, the Incorruptibles, Healings, and many many more.

sodom-gomorrah-destroyed-content-bible-32933353We live in a perverse generation where children learn to imitate the foul language of their parents, the media in movies and music.

Rebellion is everywhere. Jesus warns of this Matthew 12:36-37, “I tell you, on the day of judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned”.

Foul language is condemned in the scripture.

St. Paul states, “Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it impart grace to those who hear” (Ephesians 4:29).

Out of the heart, the mouth speaks! It is still a condition of the heart.

There are some serious signs that need to be understood as terrible reasons for judgment.

Apostasy is a very serious sin. St. John states, “Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the anti-christ is coming, so now many anti-christs have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out, that they all are not of us” (1 John 2:18-20).

disobedienceToday, there are many millions of fallen away Catholics representing the second largest religious body second to only the Catholic Church.

Hosea 4:6 states, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children”.

I had given a talk in Nothern Texas when I asked the people present if they knew of family members or friends who had abandoned the Catholic Faith. Practically everyone without exception raised their hands.

If I was to look at this as a disease, it would be an epidemic.

James 5:19-20 states, “My brethren, if any one among you wanders from the truth and some one brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins”.

The Prodigal Son who returns to the fold can be totally restored to the Church. The Lord would leave the 99 to find the one who had gone astray.

seven deadlySin has it’s consequences, especially if they are not confessed. There are Mortal sins and Venial Sins which all lead to death. Mortal sins being serious or damnable. There are the 7 deadly sins (wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony).

Galatians 5:19-21 states, “Now the works of the flesh are plain: immorality, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, pary spirit, envy, drunkenness, corousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”.

There is so much regarding warning to include those who are faithless, disobedience, traitors, apathetic, faithless and filled with heresy.

St. John states, “By this we know that we love the children of God. when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome” 1 John 5:2-3).

gods-judgment-condemnation-or-hope.jpg.crop_displayAt the time of our death, we will receive a personal judgement, the soul will go to one of three places, Heaven, Hell, or Purgatory. Those going to Purgatory are saved and will go to Heaven at the Parousia.

Jesus will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead. The soul will be united with your glorified body that will live forever. Now is the time to prepare as we will all be held accountable for the works we did. Our faithfulness to our Lord.

St. John is given a glimpse of of what heaven will be like for those whose judgment brings them home:

“And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light shall the nations walk; and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it, and its gates shall never be shut by day and there shall be no night there; they shall bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. But nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life” (Revelation 21:22-27).

The Catholic Defender: The Four Last Things Part 1, Death

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 27th, 2015

Four last thingsThe four last things that relates to Catholic teaching are Death, Judgement, Hell, and Heaven.

Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, the human race became a fallen race. Death entered into existence.

Romans 5:12-14 reminds us, “Therefore as sin came into the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all men sinned–sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sins were not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.”

To my knowledge, only three people arguably might have bypassed death, Genesis 5:21 states, “Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methuselah three hundred years, and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” It is like God simply took Enoch and so his death was not recorded.

2 Kings 2:11 states of Elijah, “And as they still went on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated the two of them. And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.” In this case, Elijah’s death is not recorded either.

Hebrews chapter eleven is known as the Bible’s “Faith” chapter, Hebrews 11:5 relates to Enoch saying, “By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death; and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was attested as having pleased God.”

elijahchariotThe story of Enoch and Elijah have no ending, we will see Elijah once again with Jesus, at the Transfiguration, Matthew 17:3 states, “And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him.”

Moses, who did die (Deuteronomy 34:5) is present with Elijah and Jesus. Even though Elijah did not die, he obviously had to be transformed. St. Paul gives an account that when Jesus does come back at the Parousia, there is a great indication that has happened to Elijah and Enoch, “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable nature must put on the imperishable, and this mortal nature must put on immortality.”

I have presented the story of Enoch and Elijah who did not die as God took both of them, but I mentioned there were three who have not died. At least not in the ordinary way. The Blessed Virgin Mary was also taken to Heaven, body and soul, a singular grace, the first fruits of the promise given to all the saints; “For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord.  Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

Mary 5In the case of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the question remains whether Mother Mary experienced death, tradition gives us that she did not die, but it is also told that she did die. But with her death she was taken into Heaven that she would not undergo corruption. Like Enoch and Elijah, her obedience and love of God entitled her from the Lord to receive the first fruits promised to all the saints.

What the Lord has done for Mother Mary, St. Paul gives this promise of hope, “When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ “O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”

Colossians 1:27 speaks of our hope in Christ, “To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” As Christians, we are given a great promise and from the life and faith we see of the Blessed Virgin Mary, God is pleased to showcase His masterpiece as a sign of hope that is in Christ.

Revelation 12:1 states, “And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars…” This woman appearing in St. Johns vision offers the Christians, the sons and daughters of this woman (Rev 12:17), the promise that the Lord Jesus will raise us all up, that we will all be given the crown of glory.

crownFrom the New Testament, there are five crowns that are presented for the faithful by the Lord:

1) Incorruptible Crown for mastery over the sin. “Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.” From the context, through the discipline of our bodies, the training and living our faith, we overcome sin and death.

2) Crown of Righteousness for living righteously in this world. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”

3) Crown of Live for enduring trials living our our Catholic Faith. “Blessed is the man who endures trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life which God has promised to those who love him.”

4) Crown of Joy for leading others to Christ and His Church. “Therefore, my brethren, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.”

5) Crown of Glory for fulfilling your calling and finishing the work assigned. “And when the chief Shepherd is manifested you will obtain the unfading crown of glory.”

stephen 1There is also a crown of martyrdom, St. Stephen was the first recorded Catholic who had died a martyr for his faith. This is also a crown of glory that many have received, even today as we see what is happening in the Middle East and Nigeria. Revelation 4:10 states, “And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing, “Worthy art thou, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for thou didst create all things, and by thy will they existed and were created.”

We will place our crowns before the King of kings and Lord of lords. The first of the four last things is death. Pope St. Gregory: “Christ’s conflict with death represented our last conflict, teaching us that the agony of death is the keenest agony that man has ever felt or will ever feel. It is the will of God that man should suffer so intensely at the close of his life, in order that we may recognize and appreciate the magnitude of Christ s love for us, the inestimable benefit He has conferred on us by enduring death for our sakes. For it would have been impossible for man fully to know the infinite love of God, unless he too had drunk to some extent of the bitter chalice which Christ drank.”

Our souls would be eternally lost but for the coming of the Lord Jesus to the world for love of us (John 3:16), we gain everlasting life through our enduring faith.

The Catholic Defender: The Texas Catholic Conference

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 25th, 2015

IMG_1961It was a great day to travel to Austin to join our Catholic Bishops coming throughout the State of Texas. It was great to see the large crowd of Catholics who met out on the front steps of the State Capital Building in Austin.

I was able to meet a number of Catholic Radio personalities coming from as far away as Chicago. I met Linda Ruf who is the National Development Director for Relevant radio, a popular Catholic Radio Network. I discovered Linda was a fan of Deepertruth and knew of me from our website. That was a great blessing.

The Catholic Bishops are wanting to send a message to our State Representatives supporting several bills that are currently being decided upon. The Texas Catholic Conference wants to support the dignity of every human being from conception to natural death.

The care of the patient should always be the first responsibility for healthcare providers to ensure that the dignity of each person is not compromised so one of the reforms the Bishops were looking at is the “End-of-Life” Care reform.

There are as many as 15 other bills that the Pro-life bills we are wanting to support. There include requiring abortion providers to have training on human trafficking. This is due to the many undercover video’s catching Planned Parenthood Representatives who have been caught advocating wrong doing.

Wbishops2015 008 (2)e are wanting to support parents to be informed because the judicial system often bypasses parents whose children are getting abortions.

Another major issue the Bishops addressed was their support for Children and Families, Education Tax Credit Scholarship to support parents who would want to choose a good school such as a Catholic School.

I met a number of 7th graders from Houston Texas from Corpus Christi Catholic School. These children were awesome, they were hanging around a canon giving me an opportunity to talk to them about the canon.

I told them a little of my military background and I was impressed with how these students were disciplined, respectful, and knowledgeable about the Catholic Faith. That was refreshing.

Other issues that the Bishops were seeking to support was Justice for Immigrants. We definitely want to support legal immigration, but while we have illegal immigrants here, we should help them until they are able to get back to their homeland.

IMG_1944This can be a tough situation, especially when people are brought here illegally at a young age. It is important that we first fix the problem at the border, then hopefully we can determine what to do that is just before God and man.

Another area that the Bishops addressed was protecting the poor and vulnerable. This concerned primarily consumer protections through limiting refinances and on principle, interest, and fees as a percentage of income. I can relate to all of this so I hope something can help.

The Bishops are calling for criminal justice reform. They are wanting an end to the death penalty, here in Texas, I’m not sure how this one will measure out, I know that Catholics take positions on both sides on the question of the death penalty. I think the biggest thing I saw on this issue was helping those re-entering society.

That is something that Fred Williams have been working on specifically and so I hope that former prisoners who did their time can be able to find help on the outside. That is extremely important to help prevent them finding their way back into prison.

IMG_1952The day began at 8:00 A.M. as the Diocesan Coordinators began to arrive at the Legislative Conference in the State Capital Building and from there it was a full day. There were a lot of meetings with State Senators and Representatives concerning the many bills that are on the table.

11:30 was that main event as the rally began on the South Steps of the Capital and there was a large crowd.

The day will end at 4:00 P.M. as the day concludes but this was a great day to see all of our Bishops together in action standing up for issues concerning the Catholic Church.

The Texas Catholic Conference today set into motion our public policy for the voice of the Bishops, we have our own agenda for the 84th Texas Legislative Session. This is a good thing. We need to continue to pray for the Shepherds of the Church as they lead us in defending life, the dignity of every human being, and for true Marriage between a man and a woman.

Hebrews 13:17 states, “Obey your leaders and defer to them, for they keep watch over you and will have to give an account, that they may fulfill their task with joy and not with sorrow, for that would be no advantage to you. Pray for us, for we are confident that we have a clear conscience, wishing to act rightly in every respect.”

That was shown today as our Bishops took their leadership to the State Capital Building. It was a great thing to behold.

The Guardian Angel: Eucharistic Miracle of Trani, Italy (11th Century)

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 23rd, 2015

praying_womanBefore reading this Eucharistic Miracle, can we come to terms that God picked each of you for such a time as this, we must be willing to go past the point of no return. We need to start praying that we become a seven days a week Catholic who are surrendered to Jesus and are willing to take our families, our country, our world back. Is is our putting Jesus back as the Foundation of our lives that we are again a people under God. We need to be willing and ready to stand in harms way for our children and our neighbor’s souls, as nothing else is important.

Go to your knees, (did you hear that) go to your knees and pray that the Holy Spirit guides your steps and that you are ready to give God all Praise and Glory, and willing to honor HIS Mother Mary asking her to intercede to Her Son for you, as we shine light on the evil domestic and foreign enemies causing the moral decay all over the world.

Yes Satan has many dupes here on earth, and he is the enemy. We are indeed calling the vigilant, the active, and the brave to start networks of men and women that give their total being to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We must say enough is enough in the leadership scandals in the church, and in the leadership scandals in all the worlds governments. We must run to the battle with No RETREAT.

If we persevere in the Truth, we should have no fear to be bold among all men, for in Philippians 4:6,7, states, “Be anxious for nothing, But in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Now do you trust God’s word, and if you do, doesn’t that sound great, to have the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guarding your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. What great JOY, try it out.

Because of our sleep, a great moral decay has taken over our families, nation, and world, and we have satanic tyranny that is greater than any experienced in this nations history and it puts children and adults at greater risk than this nation has ever seen. What has happened and what can we do? Bottom line we must humble ourselves before a Holy God, and do what is right in God’s eyes and not our own. We must bring people back to the Eucharist and pray the Rosary daily, and then stay out of the way and let Mary guide our steps to Jesus. Have I told each of you that I love you lately? In HIS service through Mary, GregoryMary

ItalyEucharistic Miracle of Trani, Italy

A non-Christian woman who did not believe the true Catholic dogma of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, aided by some of her Christian friends, managed to steal a consecrated Host during the celebration of a Sacred Mass. The woman, as if daring God, put the consecrated Host into a frying pan of oil. Suddenly the Host spilled out masses of Blood, which poured to the floor and out the door of the house.

To this day in Trani, Puglia, the relic of this miracle which happened around the year one thousand, is housed in the Cathedral of Holy Mary of the Assumption. There are numerous documents which retell this miracle; among them are Eucharistic monograms, which are on the ancient streets of the city. Brother Bartolomeo Campi describes in his work, “L’Inamorato di Gesù Cristo” (1625), an accurate account of the unfolding of the facts:

“Pretending to be Christian, the woman received Communion with the others… and took the consecrated Host from her mouth and transferred the Holy Eucharist to a handkerchief.  Once home she wanted to experiment with whether or not the Blessed Sacrament was bread and put the consecrated Host into a heated frying pan filled with oil. Upon contact with the boiling oil, the consecrated Host miraculously became Bloody Flesh and a hemorrhage, so to speak, would not stop flowing and went from the pan all over the cursed woman and her house. Terrorized, the woman began to scream… and the neighbors ran over to find out the reasons behind her cries…”
.
Pio 9The archbishop was immediately informed of the events and he ordered the return of the consecrated Host to the church. That same Cistercian Abbot Ferdinando Ughelli (1670), in his well-known encyclopedic work “Italia Sacra”, wrote in a notation of his seventh volume: “In Trani a sacred Host was fried to the dismay of our Faith…, the true Flesh and Blood of Christ was unveiled in the unleavened Bread which fell to the ground”.

An indirect confirmation to this miracle is also found in the affirmation of St. Pio from Pietreclina, which exclaimed: “Trani is fortunate to have been bathed by the Blood of Christ twice”, the first reference being to this miracle and the later to the miracle of the Colonna Crucifix from which an abundant stream of blood flowed from Jesus’ nose.

In 1616 the relic of the Host was transferred to an antique silver shrine donated by Fabrizio de Cunio.

Thanks to the generosity of the nobleman Ottavian Campitelli, the house of the woman was converted into a chapel in 1706.

Throughout various eras, many tests were performed on this sacred relic and verified, the last one took place in 1924 at the Inter-diocesan Eucharistic Congress headed by Monsignor Giuseppe Maria Leo.

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”

The Catholic Defender: Eucharistic Adoration At Oak Grove Kentucky

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 20th, 2015

IMG_1933After three evenings of talks at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at Oak Grove Kentucky, Father David Kennedy, after morning Mass, began the Rite of Eucharistic Exposition. O salutaris Hostia, Quae caeli pandis ostium: Bella premunt hostilia, Da robur, fer auxilium. Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna gloria, Qui vitam sine termino Nobis donet in patria.  Amen.

O saving Victim, opening wide, The gate of heaven to man below! Our foes press on from every side; Thine aid supply, thy strength bestow. To Thy great name by endless praise, Immortal Godhead, one in Three;
Oh, grant us endless length of days, In our true native land with Thee. Amen

St. Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church, wrote the O Salutaris Hostia in the 13th century for the Feast of Corpus Christi. Since then, the song has become widely sung during adoration Exposition and Benediction.

Catholics offer prayer and meditation praying to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament offering time with the Lord. Jesus asked St. Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?”

Can you spend one hour with the Lord when the opportunity comes to your parish? Here, before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, we ask the Lord for grace, we reflect on His Word. It is a great opportunity to pray for all kinds of petitions.

The Church has always maintained that at the Consecration of the Eucharist at Mass, the bread no longer is bread, but becomes the body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is through the action taking place on the Altar by the Priest.

IMG_1934After some meditation and prayer, I went up to the Altar and took a picture of the Monstrance, what a beautiful result.

There were a number of us looking for what ever caused such a reflection on the Host, it really looks similar to the Pieta when you look at it.

Regardless how that image materialized on the picture, it simply reminds me that Jesus truly is present before us in the Eucharist.

Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.”

Pope John Paul II said during his trip to Korea, “It is most fitting that my first stop among the Korean people should be in a church such as this, where the minds and hearts of the faithful are constantly raised up in adoration before Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist” (Seoul Korea, October 7, 1989).

The Angel held a consecrated Host and the chalice, leaving this suspended in the air, the Angel bowed down low before the Eucharist praying these words, “O most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore you profoundly, I offer you the most precious body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which he is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners”.

Pope John Paul II, in his letter, On the mystery and worship of the Holy Eucharist – April 1980: “The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic Adoration. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet him in Adoration, and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our Adoration never cease”.

IMG_1940Since Wednesday, it was great to learn that the day of meditation was very well responded to as people were present to spend time with the Lord.

I like what St. Paul writes to the Corinthians, “I give thanks to my God always on your account for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, that in him you were enriched in every way, with all discourse and all knowledge, as the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you, so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:4).

St. Paul writes, “Yet I consider life of no importance to me, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received that I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear witness to the gospel of God’s grace” (Acts 20:24).

“The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, YOU DO NOT HAVE LIFE WITHIN YOU. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever”.

As we finished with the event, it seemed sad to take down everything, we really did enjoy the past week and we ask for the Holy Spirit’s presence among His people here at St. Michael the Archangel. There is a statue of St. Michael the Archangel with his foot on the head of the devil, and his left hand raised with the finger pointed to the sky. There is such a statue of St. Michael in the Church there at Oak Grove.

michael-the-archangel-00As you can see, it was not players who scored touchdowns or hit home runs that first began their victory song. We see St. Michael doing it first!

How wonderful it is when young people decide to spend time with our Lord and give their lives for Christ at an early age!

How wonderful it is when a young woman decides to give life to the child resting in the shadow of her wings!

How wonderful it is when a struggling marriage that was falling apart is renewed by a surge of love of God!

How wonderful it is when the elderly dedicate time to pray for those lost!

How wonderful it is when a Prodigal child returns and discovers Jesus in the Eucharist!

How wonderful it is when the Priest is refreshed and leads his Parish into worship!

How wonderful it is when people turn away from sin and seeks God’s presence!

How wonderful it is when people come together in harmony and freedom, when people live in freedom!

The Catholic Defender: Promoting Adoration At St. Michael The Archangel

Posted by Donald Hartley - March 20th, 2015

IMG_1931This past week Dr. Gregory Thompson and I conducted a three day workshop, a Mission promoting the upcoming Eucharistic Adoration scheduled for Wednesday. So we had Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights to promote Eucharistic Adoration.

We placed several banners up and around the Community hall, we had internet access as well as a large screen television. There were several books, pamphlets, hats, cups, religious items, Rosaries and the Miraculous Medal we had on hand for anyone who would like something to take home. We literally had hundreds of items taken.

When ever you talk about the Eucharist, It is important to explain that Jesus is truly present in the consecrated Host. St. Bernard said that the Eucharist, “is that Love which surpasses all love in Heaven and on earth.”

St. Thomas Aquinas agrees, “The Eucharist is the Sacrament of Love. It signifies Love, It produces love.”

The banner pictured in the background was taken from the dream of St. John Bosco. This particular warning came in 1862 when St. John Bosco was given a dream that he relayed to four hundred of his boys. Looking at the picture, you can make out a large ship steered by the Pope, the Bark of Peter. When you take a close look at the picture, the ship is hooked up to two large columns, two pillars one with a large Host with the words, “Salvation of Christians”. On the other pillar stood an image of the Virgin Mary with the words, “Help of Christians”.

These pillars anchor the Church amid storms and hostile enemy fleets who seek to attack the large Ship, but the Ship is protected by the Lord and His Mother. At one point, enemy ships attempt to ram the great ship of the Catholic Church when the pope falls during battle. At first there was cheers coming from the enemy until a new pope emerged.

IMG_1892Dr. Gregory Thompson gave a great testimony of his life. Gregory is the second oldest of twelve children, a father of five daughters, and Papa to fourteen grandchildren. He has a Bachelors Degree to reach and coach from Missouri Valley College, a Masters Degree in Education Administration from Central Missouri State University, a specialist Degree in Education Administration (Superintendent) from Central Missouri State :University, and his Doctoral work has been through California Coast University.

From 1998 to 2004, he was Superintendent of Humansville R-IV School District in Polk County, Missouri. With eight other administrators he worker with MSHSAA to form the State Sportsmanship Committee, helping to put together the first State Sportsmanship summit, and chairing the committee from 2002 to 2004. Working serving children’s needs has been his gift in life. He was officially fired on September 8, 2004, for refusing to keep the Ten Commandments out of the school, the Cross off of his office wall, the Bible off of his desk, and for indicating he would pray for the Veterans, children, and their families, openly. Also, he refused to sign the court document indicating he would always comply with Supreme Court and 8th Circuit Court holdings, Gregory said, “No one is obliged to obey man’s law if it steps on God’s law. We must educate Attorneys about the invalidity of Judges attempting to legislate law from the bench when it goes against God’s Ten Commandments and/or the Constitution.”

Dr. Gregory Thompson has organized pro-life rallies held at the Jefferson City Capital Building, he has organized Marian Conventions in Southern Missouri, he has carried the cross at several abortion clinics from Columbia Missouri to Little Rock Arkansas to Mississippi.  Also Dr. Thompson co-hosts with me a show on Deepertruth specific to Eucharistic Miracles.

IMG_1904What a great blessing it was for me to be able to come back to Oak Grove KY as it was like a homecoming for me. It was great to see old friends to include Father David Kennedy. It was also great to meet new Parishioners as the Church is growing with the building of the new church.

Throughout the three days, we continued to have a lot of responses coming from the people in the Church. There was a high amount of interest in the subject matter. Beginning on Saturday Mass, Father
David gave us a few minutes to promote the Mission and at all the Masses on Sunday so people had the opportunity to know that we were there to conduct the workshop.

In discussing the Eucharist, the subject of Confession is very important, also the importance of the Blessed Virgin Mary is also very important. I was able to give several personal encounters that related to the subjects. I served in the United States Army for more than 26 years, during that time, I was deployed multiple times to Iraq and the Middle East. While deployed to Iraq, one Sunday morning, I got up and got myself together preparing to go to Mass at the Division Chapel.

I had to make sure that all our obligations were covered and that gave me ample time to go to Mass at 10:30. It’s about a 15 minute walk to the Division Chapel but this particular morning, I became excited about the news of a High positioned Lutheran, Francis Beckwith’s re-conversion to the Catholic Faith. I wanted to report this great news to the congregation. For me, the news of Francis J. Beckwith’s returning to the Catholic Faith was huge. He was among the highest Lutheran leaders and highly respected among the Protestant Evangelical academics.

Francis Beckwith’s conversion to the Catholic Faith was like a shot heard around the world. Well, here in Iraq, I heard it and I was anxious to share the news about it.

IMG_1900So, I grabbed my weapon and my gear and I set off to the Chapel. By the time I arrived there, I was drenched, sweating profusely in this 100 plus heat, but it was worth it! I guzzled down a quick quart of water and prepared for Mass. At the end of Mass, Father would give me the opportunity to announce the upcoming events for the week.

We had RCIA that was currently continuing for many people kept coming who wanted to become Catholic. We had just received about 70 Soldiers for the Easter Vigil earlier in April.

Now I had several more Soldiers who were coming forward to be received into the Catholic Faith. Many from my Battalion! We also had Bible Studies that I was conducting at our Chapel (Warrior Chapel) and at the Division Chapel. It was at this time that I had the chance to tell everyone about Mr. Beckwith coming home to the Catholic Faith. I had a number of them come up and asked me more about this when this young man came over to ask me a question. He had originally approached Father, but Father referred him to me.

I pulled him to the side and he asked me what an apostle was. I responded that an apostle was simple one who is sent. That is the textbook definition.

However, I explained that Christ sent his Apostles out into the world after preparing them for three years for the Great Commission. The Gentleman then identified himself as a “Nestorian” Christian who represented about 5% of the Iraqi Christians in Iraq. He wanted to challenge me on why the Catholic Church refereed to Mary as “Theotokos” meaning “Mother God”?

IMG_1884I responded with a question of my own, “What is the difference from referring to Mary as “Mother of God” as opposed to “Mother of my Lord”? I then quoted Luke 1:42-44, “Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, ‘Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled”.

Notice that St. Elizabeth refereed to Mary as “blessed” twice during this exchange. Notice also that she refereed to Jesus as “Lord” in her womb as well as the word of the Lord.

Adoni was the word used to illustrate “Lord” referring to God. By this time, my Nestorian friend understood my meaning and with that, he had no further questions.

Dr. Gregory Thompson called up some of the young people to the front of the room and then asked a very interesting question. If someone came in through the side door there with the intent to do bodily harm to any one of these Children, who would not hesitate to give your own life protecting them. At that, everyone in the place instantly stood up to show they would defend them.

When preparing for spiritual warfare, it is important to put on the whole amour of God. Eucharistic Adoration is a most important tool in combating evil in the world.
