The Catholic Defender: Red Dawn

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 28th, 2015

In Historic Reestablishment Of Diplomat Ties, Cuban Embassy Opens In Washington, D.C.On 20 July, 2015, my Wife and I were sitting in our hotel room in Trenton Missouri watching Fox News when the report of Cuba raising it’s flag over an American city, Washington D.C., became center stage.

I was sitting there in disgust because of what it took for us to get to this point.  As our President travels around the world trying to push gay marriage and promote his pro-Iranian arms deal, it’s no wonder why our Allies are concerned of our commitments.

What makes all this harder for me to handle, is that the excitement of having the Republicans winning a massive take over in Washington, they still seem to have no backbone in standing up against President Obama?

Secretary of State John Kerry will be going to Cuba to raise the American flag there, what did the Cuban Government do to seek diplomatic relations with the United States? The answer is really nothing. The Cuban Government is still the Communist regime that it has always been since the revolution of Castro.

0So, if the Cubans have not changed their positions which led to the embargo by America, then what is the reason for our change in status? The 1984 hit movie, “Red Dawn” captivated audiences all across America which is centered in a Midwestern town. America is invaded by the Cuban, (Soviet Union led) beginning a World War III scenario. Teenagers escape into the mountains in Colorado and hide out defending their town and America.

Watching what was happening on Fox News, I couldn’t help but think how we are seeing “Red Dawn” unfold right before our eyes.

In the movie, Americans were forced to undergo the Communist reprogramming Concentration Camps where people were brainwashed to the Communist philosophy. Well, instead of being invaded by a foreign power, there is the feel of a take over from within.

Today, most families are fighting just to survive and stay above water, many are sinking losing homes, losing the ability to buy and sell as the middle class seems to be evaporating. Parents are not often times really involved with their children’s schooling unless there are problems associated with grades.

school-comicWhile the American dream seems to be disappearing, we are seeing the Progressive Left whittal away our Constitution and our rights. The Progressives are so agenda driven they are not truth driven.

The American family is the greatest threat to the rising Progressive agendas, just watching the news today, the Gay Agenda has been able to infiltrate the Boys Scouts of America.

This is sad to me because I see the importance of such organizations as a building block, they are suppose to be organizations that builds character, builds teamwork, builds strong guidelines building young men.

I know that hiring teachers who are not good role models have had a horrible impact on our youth. I believe that teachers should uphold the highest values and to be good role models, but because of our deteriorated state, more and more positions are being filled with radicals.

In the movie, “Red Dawn”, it was the young people who became the hope of America as they fought against the invading armies of Communism, we need young people today to really pick up the pieces and bring back the American foundations.

boy-scouts-of-america-to-allow-gay-homosexual-queer-members-and-troop-leadersTo counter the Progressive agenda, it is important to restore good old fashioned patriotism and a love for America. The Progressives seek to dismantle America wanting to convince you that the United States is not exceptional.

The Progressives want to convince you that America is not the greatest nation ever created, that God is not blessing America, but that all good comes from the State.

When you surrender your sovereignty to the State, then they take ownership of your soul. That is what all this amounts too, and it becomes a battle for souls.

For every child we allow a corrupt teacher to impart their wickedness, that is a child living in confusion.

As I continued to watch the Cubans raise their flag over Washington D.C., I felt the need to pray more earnestly for America. Ladies and Gentlemen, it is past time that we take a stand for America, the land that we love.

god_bless_americaIt is time to hold high our values that are deep seated Faith in God and His Sovereignty. That we return back to those ideals that made our country free.

Prayer is so important and central if we are going to turn things around.

God our Father, Giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to Your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people. Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation´s leaders.

Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will. Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the “culture of death.” Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Catholic Defender: America Holds The Trump Card! Let’s Play It!

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 24th, 2015

trumpThe past few weeks it has been very interesting to watch the Republican candidates who are seeking to run for President. For many of us, I have concluded that no matter who wins the nomination, I’ll be for anyone but Hillary.  I have enjoyed watching both debates on Fox and CNN and I though Donald Trump hung in there well against polished politicians.

I basically like the various candidates, I love Ted Cruz, he has backbone and I support his positions. There are obviously great people with great accomplishments,  I think Governors Walker, Jindal, Kasich all make a good case for being president. The competition level is solid, compare any of them with the Democratic field?

trump1I find myself becoming a cheer leader of Businessman Donald Trump who has been leading the major polls across the United States. He seems to have touched a nerve among a lot of people who perhaps feel that the rank and file Republicans have compromised to much. Especially on issues related to our Southern Border with Mexico. The problem with illegal immigrants and crime have been in the news principally because of Donald Trump.

I served in the United States Army for more than 26 years and since my retirement, it has been next to impossible to find a job, a second career.  I  have placed hope in Donald Trumps energy to get America on the right track.

Being an athlete most of my life and also a Soldier, I love to see the media pun-dents proved wrong despite their analysis on who is going to beat Hillary. I think most people are like myself, ultimately, anybody but Hillary.

There is a vast difference from legal and illegal immigration and the media purposely shields this difference wanting to keep this attack on Donald Trump.  I do not see why people can’t see what is happening.  Donald, I think you should have some investigation as to the percentage of illegal aliens who are among the protesters at your rallies?

indexAm I willing to jump on the Trump bandwagon? If he remains the front runner and wins the nomination, most certainly! For those who can’t tell the difference between illegal aliens from actual citizens of the United States, most Hispanics do support laws protecting American sovereignty and the order of law. That means they support law abiding citizens.

I know people will support their favorite candidates, and hopefully, when it is all said and done, no matter who the nomination will go to, we will all stand up for the future of America promoting pro-life/pro-family issues.

We need to pray for America like never before. If Hillary succeeds President Obama, it will get much worse for Christians.

The Catholic Defender: By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 20th, 2015

AIR-POLLUTIONThere is pollution in the air that is effecting the hearts and minds of many people all over the world. Children often are the target of much of the pollution taking place which is seated in the deepest recesses of the heart. Rebellion digs deep into the soul when it turns away from God for the beautiful side of evil.

Unfortunately, we are seeing people who purposefully hack into family oriented websites with a Christian base throwing their porn of words and or pictures on the internet. Please pray for these people who seek to hurt children who pervert their minds, hearts, and bodies with their pollution.

Ephesians 5:1-5 says, “So be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God for a fragrant aroma. Immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is fitting among the holy ones, no obscenity or silly or suggestive talk, which is out of place, but instead, thanksgiving. Be sure of this, that no immoral or impure or greedy person, that is, an idolator, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God”.

Mortal_Sin_-_Face_Of_DespairSt. Paul takes this deeper writing to the Galatians 5:16-21, “I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh. For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want. But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warned you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God”.

St. John 5:16-17, refers to these as “deadly sins” from which the Catholic Church calls “Mortal Sins”. St. John states, “If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray. All wrong doing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.”

When St. Paul speaks about sin that will prevent a person any “inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God” that is a mortal sin.”

Consider Jesus (Matthew 12:36-37) clear warning. “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will render an account for every careless word they speak. By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Basically, the Lord is saying, out of the heart, the mouth speaks. I will say, garbage in, garbage out. It does matter what a person accepts and brings in. The sad thing is that many are being raised by this standard from their own parents. Children will imitate whom they admire and grow into what they imitate.

imagesJesus gives a clear warning on this as well, Matthew 18:6 says, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of things that case sin! Such things must come, but woe to the one through whom they come!”

How sad it is when it is from the parents that a child learns to sin. It is especially important that Fathers lead by example, the good things of God.

Consider Colossians 3:5-8, “Put to death, then, the parts of you that are earthly: immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and the greed that is idolatry. Because of these the wrath of God is coming upon the disobedient. By these you too once conducted yourselves, when you lived in that way. But now you must put them all away: anger, fury, malice, slander, and obscene language out of your mouths.”

Ephesians 4:29 states, No foul language should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear.”

Is there a constant theme in all this? It is clear that we must reform our lives and transform our lives to the way of the Lord. The Church calls us to constant conversion. Bad habits is a choice, it is important to see yourself as a work in progress and work on cleaning yourself up. To cooperate with the work of the Holy Spirit implanted in your life through Baptism and Confirmation.

Hebrews 13:1-2 states, “Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels”. When I see a small child, what an opportunity for God’s grace and yes, God’s angels are present! Which leads to another warning of Jesus. Matthew 18:1-5 states, “At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, ‘Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.” Jesus would continue, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”.

sodoma_angelsConsider the Angels at Sodom to get Lot and his family out of the city, do we respect the messengers of God or do we cry out for evil upon them?

How terrible it is to teach a child to sin, and there is great evil out there. Just this morning, I was at the Thomas Moore Troop Medical Clinic and CNN was talking favorably of a singing artist who has a song about a man with a love for another man. How terrible this is and woe to those who promote this kind of sin and place it in the hearts and minds of the young.

The Culture of Death is far more reaching than abortion and the killing of innocent human beings. It is also anything that leads to death.

The Talking Dead is very dangerous because they seek only selfish desires from the recesses of their heart.

1 Samuel 15:23 states, “For a sin like divination is rebellion, and presumption is the crime of idolatry. Because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he too, has rejected you…” Romans 1:32 echos all of the above saying, “Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”

Hosea 4:6 warns, “My people perish for want of knowledge! Since you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from my priesthood; Since you have ignored the law of your God, I will also ignore your sons.”

That is scary, I do not want the Lord to ignore my Sons and Daughter, not at all.

20131021_ArianneSegerman_WaitingattheoceanIf we think about it, hopefully, none of us would. By virtue of your baptism and confirmation, you can truly echo Isaiah, “The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, to announce a year of favor from the Lord and a day of vindication by our God…”

The Catholic Church is celebrating this liturgical year, “Consecration” to inspire strong faith in an increasingly faithless world, to inspire the Faith for the world, to inspire love in a fallen world.

Principally, we are typically known for what we say, for what we do, and for what we love.  Father Kevin Drew of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Trenton Missouri, gives a great homily why our Shepherds should match their words with their deeds:

“Woe to the shepherds who mislead and scatter the flock of my pasture … You have scattered my sheep and driven them away.

That’s Jeremiah the prophet writing in Jerusalem about 600 years before Christ, a particularly evil time in Jewish history.  King, priest and people had become more interested in politics than God.  All sorts of abuses took place in and around the temple, which was run more like a business than a place of worship.

indexDue to their disloyalty to God, Jeremiah told the Chosen People that their city and temple would be destroyed, and they’d be exiled to Babylon.  So, Jeremiah wasn’t very popular.  He actually ended up being murdered by his own people.

Jeremiah took special aim at the leaders, the shepherds: You have not cared for them, but I will take care to punish your evil deeds.  What was the problem?  Were these shepherds mean or cruel; too authoritarian?  The text doesn’t say that.  It just says they “misled and scattered the flock.”

Maybe the rulers and the priests were nice guys.  Maybe people liked them because they never challenged anybody by teaching the truths of the faith.  Perhaps that was their business model that assured an uninterrupted stream of money flowed into the temple.  So everyone was happy; the people were comfortable in their sin, and the leaders led pretty easy lives.

Teaching the truths of the faith.  The Code of Canon (Church) Law states, “By Divine institution bishops are constituted pastors in the Church, to be teachers of doctrine, the priests of sacred worship, and the ministers of governance.” (375.1)  “Divine institution” means it comes from God.  It’s right there in the last sentence of Matthew’s gospel.  Christ says:  Teach them to observe everything I commanded you.  A key word there is everything; not just the things people want to hear.  Shepherds seeking popularity of course fail to do that.  Due to their lack of courage their flock becomes indifferent and scatters.

BOB.v17-42.Jul23.Last_.CorbisThis is being played out in a tragic way right in our own time.  We’re living through a sexual revolution that has turned morality on its head.  And the modern Church, wanting to be popular and accepted, has gotten in bed with the culture; just like they did in Jeremiah’s time.  Now look what’s happened to us:  Forty million Americans are now former Catholics.  For every one person that comes into the Church, ten leave.  Catholic schools and parishes are closing all across the country, because there’s no children to put in them.  Two “Catholic” Supreme Court justices recently broke with all legal precedent, human ethics and history to inflict on us the absurdity of “same-sex marriage.”  The legal, financial and social ramifications of this will be brutal.

So there it is.  When we run with the pagans, when we love the world more than God, the world will swallow us up.  Christ’s command of course was to be in the world but not of it.  He said to hate the world, which means to love him first, to keep his commands, all of them.  Otherwise we exile ourselves.  But though we walk in a dark valley we will fear no evil, for our shepherd will bring us to the right path.  King David, who was a huge sinner, wrote that.  And Jeremiah promised the true shepherd would come from David’s branch.  And there the shepherd was, 600 years later, living and preaching on the Sea of Galilee.

In today’s passage the Apostles return from their mission to headquarters in Capernaum, on the northwest shore of the lake.  They’re tired and hungry so Christ gets them in a boat and they head to a deserted spot on the eastern shore.  But the people watch, and then run across the northern shore of the lake.  They beat the boat to the deserted spot, so it’s no longer deserted when Christ comes ashore.  But Christ doesn’t send them away.  Instead he begins to teach.  You see, he has pity on them, because they look like lost sheep.

AP_vatican_popes_canonization_jt_140427_16x9_992Now, listen to Jeremiah again:  The true shepherd will gather a small remnant of the flock, and bring them back to the meadow.  They’ll multiply and he’ll appoint shepherds to watch and care for them.  These would be bishops, with headquarters not in Capernaum, but in Rome, the city to which all roads lead.  You see, we need bishops to teach, to pastor, and to govern the flock.  This is the “business model” Christ put in place.

To deny the authority of our bishops is to become Protestant.  When the Protestants revolted 500 years ago they claimed they just needed a bible and faith.  So what has happened?  They’ve all become their own bishop.  In the end they give final authority to themselves.  As a consequence there are now something like 40,000 different Protestant sects and we live in a world of relativism, where sheep without a shepherd make up their own truth.  Now what kind of business model is that?  Is everyone the boss at your place of employment?  Or is there hierarchy; is there order?  Does your child’s ball team have a coach?  Or does your child just need a ball bat and faith?

People want the Church to be more like a business; one that will adapt with the times and supply the market with what it demands.  There’s nothing original in this.  That’s what they did in Jeremiah’s time — and we see how well that worked out.  That’s what the Protestants have done, and what some in the Church want us to do.  The problem is that the Church is not a business.  It is the instrument started by Christ to bring us to the truth.  And the truth doesn’t change with the times.  The truth is the truth, regardless of markets.  Whether everyone’s buying it or no one is buying it, the truth remains.

cross-water-bloodHere’s the truth:  Christ wasn’t very popular and he ended up being murdered by his own people, who represent us.  It was our sins that nailed Christ to the cross.  But look at his business model:  An uninterrupted stream of mercy flows from the true temple, from Christ’s pierced side.  It flows down on us at every Mass.  This doesn’t change, because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

So take heart.  All those lost sheep on the shore in today’s gospel weren’t saints.  And yet Christ had compassion on them.  Christ has compassion on us, because he came to call sinners.  It doesn’t matter how far one has strayed because no sin is bigger than God’s mercy.  So don’t stay comfortable in your sin.  Go to Confession and make things right.  Confession is your guarantee of forgiveness.  Call out to your true shepherd, “the Lord our justice,” and he will bring you back to the right path; the path that leads to the truth, who is Christ.”

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…” We Do well by following what the Lord has GIVEN us, He gave us the WAY, we have the Truth, that gives us His LIFE.

Let us aspire to the true gifts of God, “The spirit of the Lord shall rest upon you, a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, a spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord.” Let us seek out the higher gifts of God!

O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man and died for our sins and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches because you have revealed them who are eternal truth and wisdom, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. In this faith I intend to live and die. Amen.

The Catholic Defender: Amazing Prophecies Of St Nilus (5th Century)

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 17th, 2015

z13aEditors note: Since the publishing of this article (7/17/2015), good friends of mine, other Deepertruth members alerted me to some concerns as to the authenticity of these prophecies that are attributed to St. Nilus of the 5th century. There are also two other “St. Nilus” figures going back to the 14th century and the 17th century respectfully. So, as far as these particular prophecies are concerned, I will simply add that these are reportedly coming from St. Nilus 5th century. One thing is for certain, the person of St. Nilus is fact. Some of these very prophecies can interestingly be applied to the Bible, and that itself can be challenged so ultimately, people on both sides of these kinds of questions can vary.

Isaiah 60:8 is a great example, “Verse 8 “Who are these who fly like a cloud And like the doves to their lattices?”. The Douay-Rheims version say, “Who are these, that fly as clouds, and as doves to their windows?”.

I regularly site 1 John 4:1 which states, “Dearly beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits if they be of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” When it comes to any so-called supernatural event, such as a prophecy, as Christians, we defer to the Catholic Church for all things moral and doctrinal. As far as “private revelation”, no Catholic are required to believe in any of it and any Catholic is free to REJECT all of it. Public Revelation (The Church and Scripture), all Catholics are bound to believe it.

Deepertruth is all about defending the truth of the Catholic Faith, the one question I will ask for help from anyone concerned about this matter, the ultimate question really is: Do these prophecies reported predate the events or did someone come up with this after the said events. I have not been able to find anything that proves it one way or the other. So, this is homework I ask for help in finding. Anyone out there with better knowledge on this, please come forward.

St. Nilus was a noted disciple of St. John Chrysostom, and one of his chief defenders while St. John was in exile.  St. Nilus would move to Mount Sinai where he would become a monk.  While living as a hermit, he received many prophecies.  He was ordained a priest by the Bishop of Eleusa, and as a priest, he became one of the most sought after leaders of his time.  He was a noted bible scholar and theologian.  His writings caught the attention of the Emperor of the East.  He is remembered for his stand against Paganism and heresy.  He died sometime near 430 A.D.

Ephesians 2:19-20 states, “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,”  When we look at prophets, most of the time they simply are those who proclaim God’s word.  A prophet could be anyone leading a bible study, lectoring at Mass, or sidewalk witnessing, proclaiming God’s word in line with the Apostles (Catholic) teaching.

Every now and again, a prophet can also be one whom the Lord gives a Word of Knowledge of the future.  Acts 2: 17-20 states, “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.  Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.  I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.  The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.”

donnelly-and-randI want to focus in on some of the prophecies of St. Nilus that relates to things that we have seen.  Remember, St. Nilus died in 430 A.D., yet, notice the date that he writes:

“After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time for the Advent of the Antichrist approaches, people’s minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonor and lawlessness will grow stronger. Then the world will become unrecognizable.”

Looking back we know that in 1960, the Sexual Revolution was launched and what has happened since then is very interesting to what St. Nilus says here, even giving the date and time sequence.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 states, “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”  In 1960, 1 out of every 32 graduating seniors that year were diagnosed with a Sexually Transmitted Disease, today it is nearly 1 in three and four. STD’s are the most widely known diseases in America next to the common cold and flu.

678222-an-image-bohoPeople’s appearances will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptations of the Antichrist. There will be no respect for parents and elders, love will disappear, Bishops and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distinguish the right-hand way from the left.

As the 1960s progressed, there were widespread social tensions that developed along generational lines regarding human sexuality, women’s rights, authority against God and His Church, and the use of drugs.  Something also happened with Christian Catechism as Church teachings became a blur for many people.  What happened to many of the Shepherds who guarded the flock? Were they trying to defend the faithful against the onslaught or did they go into some kind of hibernation? Yes, there were many faithful religious, but St. Nilus hit this one right on the nail head.

At that time, the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will attain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust, adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds and murder will rule in society.

The rise of Paganism in the 20th century must of greatly frustrated St. Nilus as he saw all these things taking place nearly 1,500 years before they would come to pass.  Just last week, the United States Supreme Court ruled that Homosexuals can “marry” legally in all 50 States.  I recently ran into a young man who looked disciplined and I stopped him and asked him if he was military.  He told me that he used to be a Marine.  I told him that I had two brothers who were Marines, but I was Army nearly 27 years.  I asked him if he thought about going back into the Marines.  His answer took me back a little, he told me that his wife was out on a mission, but when HE comes home, he (the husband) might think about it.  I pretended I didn’t hear his reference to his “wife”, but I responded, that hopefully SHE will be home soon… I am reminded that Mother Mary at Fatima warned little Jacinta that “more souls go to hell because of the sins of the flesh than for any other reason”.

indiana-gay-activistsAt that future time, due to the power of such great crimes and licentiousness, people will be deprived of the grace of the Holy Spirit, which they received in Holy Baptism and equally of remorse. The Churches of God will be deprived of God-fearing and pious pastors, and woe to the Christians remaining in the world at that time; they will completely lose their faith because they will lack the opportunity of seeing the light of knowledge from anyone at all. Then they will separate themselves out of the world in holy refuges in search of lightening their spiritual sufferings, but everywhere they will meet obstacles and constraints. And all this will result from the fact that the Antichrist wants to be Lord over everything and become the ruler of the whole universe, and he will produce miracles and fantastic signs.

Matthew 24:11-14 states, “And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.  And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.  And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”  Today, statistically, 1 in 10 Americans fall into the “Fallen away Catholic” group which is seen as the second largest group in the United States, only behind practicing Catholics as the largest group.  And that is being charitable as only about 20% of those are going to Mass every week.  There is much that the Bible addresses in this very prophecy of St. Nilus.

indexHe will also give depraved wisdom to an unhappy man so that he will discover a way by which one man can carry on a conversation with another from one end of the earth to the other. At that time men will also fly through the air like birds and descend to the bottom of the sea like fish. And when they have achieved all this, these unhappy people will spend their lives in comfort without knowing, poor souls, that it is deceit of the Antichrist. And, the impious one! – he will so complete science with vanity that it will go off the right path and lead people to lose faith in the existence of God in three hypostases.

This is very interesting, St. Nilus is clearly speaking of telephones and perhaps the internet.  In 430 A.D., the idea of being able to talk to someone around the world would be dramatic.  Let alone man being able to travel around the would within hours.  When flying to Europe or the Middle East, it is something to be able to go nonstop to those places from the United States, but that is now routine.  Airplanes and even spacecrafts would certainly be quite a picture to a renaissance man.  Submarines became a terrible instrument of war originally perfected by the Germans in WWI.  If they would have had 100 of them, they might have won WWI.  It is interesting that St. Nilan sees the human condition, even with these great marvels, people will be more and more bound by depression.  Think of the television, how much time people place on having the media, without discipline, they lose the importance of faith and prayer.  All this is so biblical.

173509943_640Then the All-good God will see the downfall of the human race and will shorten the days for the sake of those few who are being saved, because the enemy wants to lead even the chosen into temptation, if that is possible… then the sword of chastisement will suddenly appear and kill the Perverter and his servants.

Mark 13:20 states, “And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh should be saved: but for the sake of the elect which he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.”  There are so many things that the Bible warns that give foundation to what St. Nilus has prophesied.

It is very important that we pray for our Shepherds! Despite all the problems that the Church faces, the Lord’s promise is greater than any threat fashioned against it.  (Isaiah 54:17)

The Lord promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church, that He would remain with it until He returns, and that the Holy Spirit has been given that we would not fall.  Father Kevin Drew (St. Joseph Catholic Church in Trenton Missouri) gave this message on 7/17/2015:

“June 6, 1944 was D Day.  After months and months of detailed planning, thousands and thousands of soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy in the Northwest of France.  Before all those soldiers landed however, battleships, 10-15 miles out reigned down shells from their long range guns.  It was their way to soften up the German defenses.  It also gave the enemy an idea of what was coming.  What was coming was code-named Operation Overlord; the biggest amphibious invasion in all of history.

moses-before-pharaohMoses and Aron in our reading from Exodus performed various wonders in ancient Egypt.  The river was turned blood red, there was a frog infestation, flea and gnat infestations, swarms of locust, and a sea of dust that brought darkness all over the land.  These plagues were designed to soften up the obstinate Pharaoh, to give him an idea of what was coming.  The angel of death would take the lives of the firstborn of all of Egypt, making the previous plagues look just like warm ups for the last and deadly one.

“It is the Passover of the Lord.  For on this same night I will go through Egypt, striking down every first born of the land, both man and beast, and executing judgment on all the gods of Egypt–I, the LORD!”

The Passover is going to be so monumental that it will change the Hebrew calendar.  The Hebrews are then given detailed catechesis, liturgical training so to speak, on how to celebrate the Passover:  The type of lamb to be slain, how to prepare it, how to eat it, what to do with its blood, who could celebrate the sacrifice.  That’s what the Passover is in its essence; a sacrifice in which the victim’s blood assuages the deadly anger of the angel of death, causing him to passover the house that was protected by the blood of the lamb.

The Passover, God tells Moses and Aron, shall be a memorial feast for the Hebrews.  All generations will celebrate it with a pilgrimage to the Lord, as a perpetual institution.  Isn’t it interesting? The mini-plagues were run-ups, pointers to the Passover.  And the Passover is a run-up, a pointer to Jesus Christ.  The Whole Old Testament in fact is a run-up, a pointer to Christ.  The definitive meaning of the Passover is not realized until Christ celebrates the Last Supper, the first Mass in the Upper Room the night before he dies.  Smearing a lamb’s blood on a wooden doorpost really makes no sense–until the true Lamb’s blood is smeared on a wooded cross on Calvary.

jesus-in-the-crossThe obstinate Pharaoh, his heart hardened was finally defeated at Passover.  He surrendered.  On Calvary, in the ultimate Operation Overlord, the biggest heavenly invasion in history Satan surrenders.  Christ executes judgment on sin and death.  Christ perpetuates the sacrifice of Calvary by giving us this memorial feast, this sacrifice of mercy.  Mass is a perpetual institution so we, obstinate in our sin, can participate in the sacrifice and surrender our hardened hearts by placing them up on the altar with Christ.”

Father Drew beautifully reminds us that despite what we see in the news each and everyday, our faith is the greatest event and happening and is most important in this crucial time in human history.

As far as the last times are concerned, nobody really knows the day nor the hour, but as Christians, we should live each day as if this might be the day.  Many people will rise today not knowing that for them, this is the end of the world.  Our prayer and hope is that they are ready for this final event in their lives.  We certainly want to remember the four Marines who were murdered in Chattanooga Tennessee (7/16/2015) by a Muslim extremist waging an act of war against Americans.

The Guardian Angel: The Eucharist and the conversion of the Atheistic Writer Andre Frossard in the 20TH CENTURY

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 15th, 2015

imagesLord McCauley, a non-Catholic British historian says, “There is not and there never was on this earth a work of human policy so well-deserving of examination as the Roman Catholic Church. The history of that Church joins together with two great ages of human civilization. The proudest royal houses are but yesterday when compared with the line of supreme pontiffs, the Popes; the line we trace back in an unbroken series from the Pope who crowned Napoleon in the 19th century to the Pope who crowned Pepin in the 8th and far beyond the time of Pepin, the august dynasty extends. The republic of Venice is gone and the papacy remains. The papacy remains not in decay, not a mere antique but full of life and youthful vigor. The Catholic Church is still sending forth to the farthest ends of the earth world missionaries as zealous as those who landed in Kent with Augustine and still confronting hostile kings with the same spirit with which she confronted Attila the Hun. Nor do we see any sign which indicates that the term of her long dominion is approaching. She saw the commencement of all ecclesiastical establishments that now exist in the world and feel no assurance that she is not destined to see the end of them all”.

Christopher Dawson, a historian who taught at Harvard University said, “To the ordinary educated man looking out on the world in A.D. 33, the execution of St. Janus must have appeared much more important than the crucifixion of Jesus, and the attempts of the government to solve the economic crisis by a policy of free credit to producers must have seemed far more newsworthy and promising than the doings of an obscure group of Jewish fanatics in an Upper Room in Jerusalem. Nevertheless, there is no doubt today which was the most important and which availed most to alter the lot of humanity. All that Roman world with it’s power and wealth and culture and corruption sank in the blood and ruin. The flood came and destroyed them all, but the other world, the world of the Apostles and martyrs, the inheritance of the poor survived the downfall of ancient civilization and became the spiritual foundation of a new order”.

CD-and-GregLet these words ring true for each of us, as in the days ahead we address the Crisis within and outside the Catholic Church, caused for sure by Satan, even as we understand that God is in control and the gates of hell will not prevail against the Catholic church,  yet the gates will prevail against every man made religion and every political system.  Let us not conform to this world, as we are prayerfully on our knees asking our Lady to channel the graces to us from her Son our Lord Jesus Christ.  Pray for the Shepherds in the days ahead, even as we don’t understand why there has been little catechesis and instead opinions that confuse those attempting to stay true to the Deposit of Faith as handed down by Jesus Himself.  Truth matters, and if opinions are not conformed to the Truth, then they must be put aside, and those that bring forth any novelties must be lovingly told, so that souls are not lost.  Bishop Fulton Sheen let the lay know that they have an obligation to tell the Clergy if they are out of line, but make sure it is with respect and love.  God be with each of you, you are in my love and prayers in Christ.  GregoryMary

indexThe Eucharist and the conversion of the Atheistic Writer Andre Frossard in the 20TH CENTURY

The conversion of the atheist writer Andre Frossard, in the presence of the Holy Eucharist, has had great repercussions in the world. He himself recounted how his conversion came about in his book, God Exists. I Have Met Him (1969).

Up to his final years, up to his final days, he would only say: “Since the time when I encountered God, I have never succeeded in growing tired of the mystery of God. Every day is something new for me. And if God exists, I should speak of it; if Christ is the Son of God, I should proclaim it loudly; if there is Life Eternal, I should preach it.”

Frossard’s testimonial: “Having entered a chapel in the Latin Quarter of Paris at 5:10 in the morning to look for a friend, I left at a quarter after 5 in the company of a friendship that was not of this earth. Having entered as a skeptic and an atheist…and ever more skeptical and atheistic, indifferent and preoccupied with so many things other than a God to Whom I never even gave a thought even to deny…

I was standing by the door, looking around with my eyes for my friend, but did not succeed in finding him… “My gaze passed from the shadows to the light…from the faithful gathered there, to the nuns, to the altar…and came to rest above the second candle burning to the left of the Cross (unaware that I was standing in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament). And at that point, suddenly a series of miracles unfolded whose indescribable force shattered in an instant the absurd being that I was, to bring to birth the amazed child that I had never been…

index 1At first the hint of these words, ‘Spiritual Life’ came to me… as if they had been pronounced in a whisper next to me… then came a great light… a world, another world of a radiance and a destiny that in one stroke cast our world among the fragile shadows of unfulfilled dreams… of which I felt all the sweetness… a sweetness that was active and upsetting beyond every form of violence, capable of breaking the hardest stone and that which is even harder than stone – the human heart.

Its overflowing eruption, so complete, was accompanied by a joy which is the exultation of the saved, the joy of the shipwrecked who is picked up just in time. These sensations, which I find difficult to translate into a language which cannot capture these ideas and images, were all simultaneous… Everything is dominated by the Presence… of Him of Whom I would never be able to write His name without fear of harming its tenderness, of Him before Whom I have had the good fortune to be a forgiven child who wakes up to discover that everything is a gift…

God existed and was present… one thing only surprised me: The Eucharist! Not that it seemed incredible, but it amazed me that Divine Charity would have come upon this silent way to communicate Himself, and above all that He would choose to become bread, which is the staple of the poor, and the food preferred by children… O Divine Love, eternity will be too short to speak of You.”

Ladies and Gentlemen, the greatest miracle is given to us when a Prodigal comes home, when a person comes to belief.  Just like the story above, I have been graced to have seen such conversion.  While serving in Iraq, one of my Soldiers was always hostile towards the Catholic Church.  I would invite him to come with us to Mass or to participate with the Rosary Patrol.

10422975_913147262039587_3967714610537122613_nOn one occasion, he finally agreed to sit in on a Rosary because of our intent to go to lunch at the dining hall after the prayer.  Plus there were a number of our Platoon and others already participating with me by this time.

While waiting for us to finish, my Soldier continued to refuse to accept anything that was going on.  He remained abstinent as another Soldier came in late asking for us to pray for his wife as she was diagnosed with cancer and he has just been notified so I led a quick prayer with the Rosary Patrol for him and his wife.

Then right after this, our priest came in with a special blessing bringing Jesus in the Eucharist to give to us.  What a great blessing this was and what a great opportunity for us to receive Jesus in communion.  As we were walking our, my unbelieving Soldier first showed his disbelief, but almost instantly, he broke down and yielded to the King of kings and from the day forward, he was a faithful member of the Rosary Patrol.

What a great blessing it was to see him received into the Catholic Church the next Easter Vigil while still serving in Iraq.  I have been graced to have played a role with many other examples.  Conversion is a true miracle from God.

St. Paul States, “I am grateful to him who has strengthened me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he considered me trustworthy in appointing me to the ministry.  I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and arrogant, but I have been mercifully treated because I acted out of ignorance in my unbelief.  Indeed, the grace of our Lord has been abundant, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Of these I am the foremost. But for that reason I was mercifully treated, so that in me, as the foremost, Christ Jesus might display all his patience as an example for those who would come to believe in him for everlasting life.  To the king of ages, incorruptible, invisible, the only God, honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”  1 Timothy 1:12

The Catholic Defender: Prophets, Shake The Dust

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 13th, 2015

amos-preachAmos 7:12-15 states, “Amaziah, priest of Bethel, said to Amos, “Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah! There earn your bread by prophesying, but never again prophesy in Bethel; for it is the king’s sanctuary and a royal temple.” Amos answered Amaziah, “I was no prophet, nor have I belonged to a company of prophets; I was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores. The LORD took me from following the flock, and said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.”

From this text coming from the prophet Amos, he would certainly be able to identify with some of the current problems facing America today. We are living in a time when many are wanting to silence the Church, and it seems hard to find anyone willing to take up the gauntlet and loudly proclaim God’s Word.

I know from my 27 years of Military service, many changes have taken place in all branches of service taking out anything identifying a Christian culture. Fortunately, I survived my service without compromising my core values as I never caved in to accepting the Progressive takeover of the Military. Tragically, I talk with many active duty Soldiers who are not going to stay in the Army and make it a career because of their suppressed views.

indexOnly about 4% of the American society are affiliated with the Military in one capacity or another, from being an active service member, a dependent, or retiree. That means the vast majority of the American society are not either familiar with military life, or their interests are directed elsewhere.

The Archdiocese of the Military continues to be a voice for all serving in the military standing up for the freedom and support of the faith of the majority. Like the Prophet Amos, many of our Chaplains can certainly relate. It’s a sad day when the Government is forcing it’s members to have to choose between a king or dictator, from the True King and His Church.

God is raising a standard against this return of ancient Paganism calling for a spiritual army within the Catholic Church that is being seen all across the country.

Many young men and women are answering the call to follow Christ at this very crucial hour in American history.

indexFather Kevin Drew of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church gave the following homily on July 12, 2015:

“Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah!

That’s the priest Amaziah in the first reading telling the prophet Amos to get out of town. Amos, who lived about 700 years before Christ, fearlessly preached against the religious abuses and immorality in Israel. He also prophesized that Israel’s King Jeroboam would be murdered and the Israelites would be sent into exile.

But the priest Amaziah didn’t want to hear it. You see, he was working for the king, and not God. Bethel was twelve miles north of Jerusalem, and like Jerusalem it had a temple. But the worship there was profaned. As Amaziah told Amos, it was the king’s sanctuary and a royal temple. Amaziah pushed God aside and propped up earthly rulers in the sanctuary.

About 2200 years after this, in 1534, an earthly ruler, by a vote of the English Parliament, was propped up as the supreme religious leader in England. That tragedy started over the sin of flouting the sacredness of marriage. The Act of Supremacy in 1534 made King Henry VIII the head of the new man-made Church of England, a country that had been Catholic for 1000 years. Now England would be forced to swear allegiance in matters of faith and morals to the king, their supreme religious leader — who ended up having two of his six wives’ heads chopped off.

seasonsThe top lawyer in England at the time was Sir Thomas More. He refused to take an oath swearing that King Henry’s first marriage was invalid — because it wasn’t. He also refused to take an oath swearing that Henry was the Supreme Head of the Church in England — because he wasn’t. Those things were not true, even if they had become the law of the land.

In the 1967 movie, A Man For All Seasons, agents of the king press More to sign the oath. An exasperated Duke of Norfolk tells More: I’m no scholar, so I don’t know whether the marriage was lawful or not, but (darn it) Thomas, look at these names! Why can’t you do as I did and come with us, for fellowship! More calmly responds: And when we die, and you are sent to heaven for doing your conscience, and I am sent to hell for not doing mine, will you come with me, for fellowship?

There is another great line at More’s trial, when he notices that Richie Rich, the man who falsely accused him, is wearing a new medal of office around his neck. More asks what the chain is, but an ashamed Richie Rich looks away. The prosecutor answers More for him. He says: Sir Richard has been appointed Attorney General for Wales. Thomas More looks at the medal, then at Rich, and says: Why Richard, it profits a man nothing to lose his soul to gain the whole world — but for Wales?

civil-disobedience-st-thomas-moreSaint Thomas More was beheaded on July 6, 1535, two weeks after the bishop John Fisher was beheaded.

In a land of Amaziahs, priests who went to work for the king instead of God, Saint John Fisher was the only bishop in England who did not declare that King Henry was the supreme ruler of the Church.

Henry VIII was in fact a king. But he pushed God aside. He forgot that he himself had a king. That king in today’s gospel passage sent out the twelve apostles two by two. He sent out hand-picked trainees to go on a mission. The apostles were to preach repentance; to have people turn away from sin. Most people probably didn’t want to hear that — Aren’t you two fishermen from Capernaum? Who are you to tell us we’re sinners? Where did you get the authority to do that? The authority came from God, who had stayed back in Capernaum.

Christ could have went on the mission with the twelve. Christ also could have stayed on Earth after he rose from the dead. But then there would be no faith. Christ entrusted the spread of the Good News to human beings. This is the Church. Christ started a Church, a Kingdom on Earth and gave it authority. That makes it totally different than any other organization, private or public, found on earth. All those groups were started by human beings.

imagesDoes that mean the Church is immune from corruption? Of course not. How could it be? It has human beings in it. No, it means the Church, because she is started by Christ, possesses the truth. And the truth is not up for a vote. The truth does not change with the times. The Church, one scholar wrote, is like the mailman: She delivers the Good News. She never edits it.

Now we, as human beings, are offered the gift of faith. We can accept it or reject it, because unlike the lower animals, we have free will. God allows us to make a choice. Listen to our true King, our true Supreme Ruler: You can’t serve both God and mammon. You can’t serve two masters (Mt 6:24). If you deny me, I will deny you before my Father (Mt 10:33). What profit is it for someone to gain the whole world, but lose his soul? (Mk 8:36).

So make your choice. Ask yourself: Who do I ultimately work for? Who is my supreme ruler? Who is my supreme court? The answer comes into focus when you ask yourself another question: Who ultimately saves me? Look at today’s 2nd reading for the answer: In him we have redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of transgressions. Psalm 49 states: For no man can buy his own ransom, or pay a price to God for his life. The ransom of his soul is beyond him. He cannot buy life without end.

imagesWe need to pray to have the spiritual vision to see this. And if so, the world will tell us: Off with you visionary. Flee to the land of Judah! That’s actually our mission. We are to shake the dust from this passing away world and head to the heavenly Jerusalem. We don’t need food or a fat money belt to get there. Instead Christ supplies the provisions – his Holy Body and his Precious Blood.

This is why he gave us the Holy Sacrifice of Mass. Our sanctuary is indeed a king’s sanctuary, a royal temple. But it’s not for earthly kings and rulers. They can’t save us. They can’t assuage the Father’s anger with their blood. Only Christ can do that. Only Christ can buy our ransom.

Don’t push God aside. What happens in here, how you react and conduct yourself in here, is the key to everything you do out there, in the world. So don’t profane your worship. Offer yourself along with Christ’s Precious Blood to the Father. Then listen to Christ in the silence at Mass. Listen to him ask: Will you come with me, for fellowship? Listen to him, and make your choice.”

Father Drew makes many important points here.  We are truly in a battle for souls because there is a real spiritual battle, souls are at stake.  We are called to lead by example and to love even our enemy. To know that God is watching us, that He has not forsaken us gives us great hope. Psalms 39:7 states, “And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in thee.”

imagesOur faith calls for us to trust in the Lord, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight.” (Proverbs 3:5)

The Act of Faith, “O MY GOD, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in Three Divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I believe that Thy Divine Son became Man, and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.”

So we should place all our hope, faith, and trust in the Lord, centered for our love of God. The more we hold to the azimuth that gives us a straight line to God, the less we will be distracted by the call of the wild.

You have heard that much has been given so much is expected, we are called by God to help pick up the wounded and not leave them stranded leaving them on the bay-side. This is the challenge that we are to help those in need. Jesus said, “Then the King will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” (Matthew 25:34-36)

The Catholic Defender: We Look Upon Christ Crucified

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 10th, 2015

imagesLook down upon me, good and gentle Jesus while before Your face I humbly kneel and, with burning soul, pray and beseech You to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity; true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment.

While I contemplate, with great love and tender pity, Your five most precious wounds, pondering over them within me and calling to mind the words which David, Your prophet, said to You, my Jesus:

“They have pierced My hands and My feet, they have numbered all My bones.” Amen.

Looking upon the crucifix, it reminds us of God’s great love for you and for me. Just as the ancient Israelites looked upon the Nehustan (bronze snake on a pole erected by Moses) for healing we look upon the cross of Christ. Christ took the place of all so that all sin could be paid for by His Blood. In Jesus we find redemption.

CD 10Jesus death on the cross calls upon all of us to follow Him even though it may be a dark valley. Today, we have seen great atrocities committed upon the innocent, especially in the Middle East, Iraq, Syria and Nigeria to name a few.

Act’s 1:8 Jesus said, “But you shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the uttermost part of the earth.” To the ancient Greeks, the word “witness” is derived from the Original Word: μάρτυς, υρος, ὁ (masculine usage) which is translated “martus”. This is the root for which the word Martyr is derived.

As a witness, we are founded on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets who were the first eye witnesses who personally heard the Words of Jesus Christ, the Capstone or Cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:19-20)

0525_Drew2The past 2,000 years there have been many who witnessed the Faith bringing the Gospel to the Nations. July 9th, I attended Mass in Trenton Missouri and listened intently to Father Kevin Drew of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He focused on one of the Saints of the day in his homily. Father stated the following:

“Two hundred years ago, in 1815 a bishop from France was killed in China. He was a missionary priest that had gone there forty years earlier to help Christianize the Asian continent. Through his efforts Christianity began to take hold. But in 1815 the Chinese government became hostile to Christians and a persecution started.

The bishop, who is now a saint, was named John Gabriel Dufresse. He was arrested in May of 1815, then marched to another city where he was put in jail. Four months later, on September 14, 1815 he was beheaded. His head was fastened up on a pole as a warning, to frighten Christians, but his blood was gathered up by Christians and distributed to the faithful.

One of the soldiers that escorted the bishop while he was marched off to jail is the saint we honor today, Augustine Zhao Rong. He was deeply moved by the bishop’s patience and ability to forgive his enemies after he was arrested. So Augustine, the soldier, ignoring the risks, asked to become a Christian. Shortly thereafter he became a priest, being eventually arrested, tortured and killed.

Today at Mass we honor St. Augustine Zhao Rong and 119 other martyrs who died in China trying to bring Christ to the Chinese. Martyr means witness. A Martyr witnesses to Christ by dying for him. He sheds his blood for Christ. So we wear red today, to honor the blood of the martyrs.

0[1]Isn’t that interesting how people sopped up the blood of the bishop after he was beheaded? They took it home and treasured it. Looking at it gave them strength and courage to stand up and witness for Christ, to stick up for Him in a world that hates Him. St. Peter, our first pope was a martyr. He bled for Christ. Before he died he wrote: You were all saved, not by silver or gold; money, but with the Precious Blood of Christ who is the Lamb without blemish or stain.

We are all saved by Blood, by Christ’s Precious Blood that flows from His pierced wounds up on Calvary. Christ is our sacrifice. He’s the Lamb of God offered on our altar that we give to the Father in Heaven. And then we eat the Lamb. The Sacred Host we receive has blood in it because it’s alive. Christ is alive, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Sacred Host that we receive at Holy Communion.

When the priest at Mass raises up the sacred chalice with Christ’s Blood, think of Christ being raised up on the Cross and bleeding for you because he loves you. The psalm in the bible says: What can I do to pay back what the Lord has done for me? I’ll take the chalice of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord. The chalice saves us from our sins. The chalice strengthens us, gives us courage to be witnesses for Christ, to stick up for Him, maybe even some day to die for Him, to be a martyr for Him.”

longinus02-1Father Drew is totally right here in everything he states! He quotes Psalms 116:13 reminding me the importance of the cup of salvation.  According to Church Tradition, St. Longinus was the soldier who pierced the side of the Crucified Savior with a spear. Longinus was chief of the soldiers who were present at the Crucifixion of the Lord on Golgotha.

The legend of St. Longinus states that having been wounded in a past battle, he was blind in one eye.

He was healed when he pierced the side of Jesus with his spear and some of the blood and water from Jesus fell into his eyes. Having come to believe in the Savior, St. Longinus received Baptism from the apostles, and decided to leave military service. St Longinus secretly left Judea to preach about Jesus Christ the Son of God in his native land (Cappadocia), and two of his comrades followed him. He had always maintained the relic of the Blood of Christ taken from the foot of the cross.

Longinus was also the chief of the watch that guarded the tomb. When the Romans and the elders in Jerusalem learned of the Resurrection of Christ, they bribed the soldiers to spread the false news that Christ did not resurrect, but rather that His disciples stole His body.

They also tried to bribe Longinus, but he did not allow himself to be bribed. Ultimately, as the Soldier, St. Augustine Zhao would give witness to Jesus by his martyrdom, so did St. Longinus.

tlm1Let us walk each day willing to be that “living martyr” that Pope Pius XII had called us to be when he warned the world of the upcoming attack on Faith and family in 1950. As we see the return of ancient Paganism hitting all over the Western World, our governments, the media, the movies and music, we know that the Lord will raise up a standard against this onslaught.

Isaiah 54:17 states, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper: and every tongue that resisteth thee in judgment, thou shalt condemn. This is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord, and their justice with me, saith the Lord.”

Matthew 16:18-20 states, “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

The Catholic Defender: Consecration

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 9th, 2015

indexFrom the earliest times since God developed His relationship with His people, there have always been those who were consecrated to do God’s will through the Covenants.  Usually, people were consecrated for a specific purpose.

Consider Chapter 24 of the Book of Exodus.  Moses consecrates the entire people of Israel based on the Covenant.  Moses read the Covenant to the people who then made their profession of obedience.  Certain rites were established to fulfill God’s intentions for His people and their sacrifices.  We see the erection of an altar and twelve memorial stones that would foreshadow the Catholic Altar (Hebrews 13:10).  This was to commemorate the twelve tribes of Israel.

Moses consecrated twelve youths whose purpose were to perform the burnt-offering.  This would be for the sacred holocaust.

mosaic-covenant-concludedFrom this holocaust, Moses sprinkled blood upon the people which again is a foreshadowing of the blood of Christ.

Exodus 29 addresses the consecration of Aaron and his sons who were anointed, purified, and commissioned to offer the public sacrifice.  This would be the establishment of the priesthood of Levi that would through their consecration, maintain the ordinances that God gave to Israel.

The ceremony known as the “Filling the hand” was an expression that was made popular because of the placing of meat in their hands.  This was part of the consecration of the meat from consecrated hands.  In Exodus 30:23-24 we begin to see the use of sacred oil for consecration.  All this would foreshadow Christ and of His commissioning the Church through consecrating His Apostles and their successors.

Numbers 3:6 details specifically the consecration of those Levites who represent the first born of all the tribes of Israel.  Embodied in this sacred consecration we see a dedication, a sacred commitment to abstain from certain things (vow of sanctity), and the rites of consecration of objects such as temples, altars.  This really foreshadows the New Testament.

samson-2There was a certain consecration among the Hebrews that were called Nazarites (Numbers 6), one of my all time favorite Old Testament figures is Sampson.  Sampson was a Judge of Israel for 20 years who was from conception dedicated to be a Nazarite.    By definition, the Hebrew word nazir, simply means “to be separated or consecrated.”

Judges 13:3-14 gives the account of Sampson’s consecration,  “The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said, “You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son. Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean. You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”

“Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.”  God heard Manoah, and the angel of God came again to the woman while she was out in the field; but her husband Manoah was not with her. The woman hurried to tell her husband, “He’s here! The man who appeared to me the other day!”  Manoah got up and followed his wife. When he came to the man, he said, “Are you the man who talked to my wife?” “I am,” he said.  So Manoah asked him, “When your words are fulfilled, what is to be the rule that governs the boy’s life and work?” The angel of the Lord answered, “Your wife must do all that I have told her. She must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, nor drink any wine or other fermented drink nor eat anything unclean.  She must do everything I have commanded her.”

st-john-the-baptistSimilarly, St. John the Baptist was dedicated as a Nazirite, Luke 1:15 states, “For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb.”

Today, the ordinary minister of a consecration is by a bishop, with the use of holy oils, such events are lasting covenants that are permanent, never to be repeated.  This is something different from a blessing that can be and usually is administered by a priest.  The obligation of the recipient is binding under a consecration, much more than what comes from a blessing.  The profanation of things consecrated would be a sacrilege ( serious sin) which is not necessarily the case of a blessed person or object.  A consecrated Host being desecrated would be far worse for example, than losing a religious medal.  So, by comparison, the grace given a consecrated person carries more weight than that given from a blessing.  Both are good, but the consecration such as a religious has significance to God’s purpose for the whole people of God.

Within the Church, there are the special consecration of bishops, altars fixed (including portable or altar-stone), churches, and chalices and patens.  These are significant events accompanied with a Mass of great importance.

In fact, the Mass itself embodies the central Covenant by which all consecrations are derived.  This foreshadows the Old Testament Passover meal that contained four cups.  They represented the following:

Priest_raising_blood-001-250x3071 The first cup of wine is called the cup of sanctification. It is to commemorate the promise: “I will bring you out.”

2 The second cup is called the cup of plagues – the plagues that came upon Egypt – and it relates to the second promise: “I will free you from being slaves.”

3 The third cup is called the cup of redemption, where God says: “I will redeem you.”

4 The fourth cup is called the cup of completion, where God says: “I will take you as my own people.”

Notice the third cup, “cup of redemption“, that this would be the main representation of Christ who is the redeemer of mankind, that is why St. Paul refers to this cup as the “cup of blessing“.

It is this cup that is central to the Mass and our cup of salvation.

By receiving this cup, we renew the Covenant with the Lord and truly, our cup overflows.

Also notice the 4th cup, during the Last Supper, remember that Jesus did not offer the traditional 4th cup, but he saved it until the cross.

This is why the Mass is known as the “Sacrifice of the Mass”, because the Last Supper is tied into the Passion of Jesus and our redemption..

cup-5The cup of completion is taken literally by Jesus, “After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said ‘I thirst.’ There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, ‘It is finished.’ And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.” (John 19:28-30)

All the baptized are invited who are in the state of grace to partake at the Eucharistic banquet.

As we have seen, consecration is an act by which a person is dedicated to a sacred service that is intended by God for all the faithful.  As Catholics, many of the faithful who strive to further their spiritual walk with Christ and His Church will offer themselves in acts of consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

There are consecrations that Saints like St. Louis de Montfort have developed that have been promoted by the Church.  To increase devotion, Pope Leo XIII, encouraged the faithful to make acts of consecration to the Virgin Mary based on the methods of Saint Louis de Monfort ,  as well as other Popes like St Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI.  St. Pope John Paul II’s motto, Totus Tuus (totally yours) reflected the Pope’s personal consecration to Mary.

St. Maximillian Kolbe, called the “Apostle of Consecration to Mary” promoted consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary through the publishing of Militia Immaculatae which today continues to circulate over 750,000 copies per month.

To live a consecrated life is to live the gospel.

The Catholic Defender: Hail Holy Queen Prayer

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 8th, 2015

Hail_Holy_QueenOne of the most loved Catholic prayers that are said at the conclusion of the Rosary, is known as the Hail, Holy Queen prayer. As I was meditating on the Rosary this morning, I was thinking about how this prayer, being a powerful prayer for any Christian, can be really misunderstood. And sure enough, when I arrived at the Library here in Trenton Missouri, I decided to Google up the prayer.

Low and behold, I stumbled on this article called “Mary Worship, A study of Catholic practice and doctrine”. The author, Mary Ann Collins, while claiming to be a “former Catholic” as if this makes her an authority of the subject, clearly she has become confused either by an agenda or bias because what she claims is not close to being the truth. This is typically what I see from those who catch onto some of the Fundamentalist Mary claptrap propaganda. Lets take a very simple look at the prayer, Hail, Holy Queen:

Luca-Giordano-XX-The-Annunciation-1672First of all, the word hail is not a word used in worship, it is simply a greeting. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica Company-Dictionary, the word hail means:

1. a : salute, greet

b : to greet with enthusiastic approval : acclaim 2. to greet or summon by calling

The first example fits perfectly with the greeting of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, “And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. (Luke 1:28)

So the idea that the title “Hail Mary” would be an act of worship would be false.

holy Queen,

Most of the time, people who love to misrepresent the title Queen that is given to Mother Mary, they attempt to tie Mary as the Queen of Heaven to Jeremiah 7:16-18, “You, now, do not intercede for this people; raise not in theira pleading prayer! Do not urge me, for I will not listen to you. Do you not see what they are doing in the cites of Judah, in the streets of Jerusalem? The Children gather wood, their fathers light the fire, and the women knead dough to make cakes for the queen of heaven, while libations are poured out to strange gods in order to hurt me. Is it I whom they hurt, says the Lord; is it not rather themselves, to their own confusion?”

The queen of heaven that Jeremiah is speaking of is not the Blessed Virgin Mary who is the true Queen of Heaven, but rather a false god. The Israelites worshiped Pagan gods that displeased the Lord. The Babylonians worshiped a woman called “Ishtar“, she was the goddess of love and war. Prostitution was a part of the temple worship. She was known to have had many lovers.

Contrast this with the Blessed Virgin Mary who represents chastity, modesty, faithfulness, and love of God. She is the purest of God’s creation. Unlike Ishtar and other female goddesses who were worshiped and called “God the Mother“, the Blessed Virgin Mary is called Mother of God. Not because she is a goddess, she is not, but because Catholics recognize Jesus as Divine. He is truly God and man.

The idea of the Blessed Virgin Mary being the Queen of Heaven comes from the tradition and practice of the Kings of Israel beginning with King Solomon who placed is Mother, Bathsheba, a place of honor within his court. (1 Kings 2:12-20)

It was never the wife or wives of the king, but it was the mother of the king who would be queen.  Jesus is the King of kings, the rightful Son of David, and the Blessed Virgin Mary is His Mother.

Mother of mercy,

Since the Virgin Mary is the Mother of Jesus, she is the “New Eve” who became the Mother of the living, the Mother of the Church.

St. Irenaeus referred to Mary as the “Ark of the New Covenant”. He made the typology between Eve and Mary “Against Heresies” as St. Paul did with Adam and Jesus (Romans 5:12). This reveals the perspective and role Mary had in the early Church.

Revelation 12:17 states, “And the dragon was angry against the woman: and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

Compare Genesis 3:15 with Revelation Chapter 12 and we see a clear connection between a woman, her seed (offspring) and a serpent. Clearly, St. John the Apostle is connecting the two stories as one. Mary is the woman, Jesus is the seed or offspring, and the serpent is the Devil. We, the followers of Jesus, becomes the offspring of the woman. Jesus is the Divine Mercy, the Virgin Mary is His Mother, the title Mother of Mercy really is pointing to Jesus.

hail, our life,

Because of the Virgin Mary’s “Yes” in response to the Angel Gabriel’s question, this opened the door for the whole human race. John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.”

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the vehicle that the Lord came to the world.”

our sweetness and our hope.

Our hope is in the Lord, the Virgin Mary, being with Jesus, takes us deep within the Merciful Heart of Jesus. The Virgin Mary is not in some kind of competition with Jesus. She continues to bring Jesus to us through our prayers of hope.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the par excellence of evangelism bringing countless souls to Christ through her prayers of intercession. We imitate Mother Mary when we bring the Word of God to others.

We become Christ bearers!

To thee do we cry,

The Lord hears the cry of the poor. As Catholics, we go straight to the Lord as the center of our faith. Jesus is the heart of every prayer, He is the source of all that is in us. Mary does not detract from any of who Jesus is within us. Our plea to Mary here is our common prayer with Mother Mary who is praying for us even at this moment. Even when we are deeply involved in the pressures of life, Mother Mary is a constant reminder for us to get up and pray!

poor banished children of Eve:

The-fall-of-Adam-and-EveSince the fall of Adam and Eve, we are still influenced by a fallen nature. We cry out to the Lord to help us through our fallen nature. We are still being delivered from bondage and liberated from the power of sin through God’s grace and through His Church.

We have safe refuge from the powers of darkness, but through Jesus Christ, we have the light, like Mother Mary, we become the light when we choose to live for Him.

to thee do we send up our sighs,

Our Mother Mary shares the very pain we have through the merits of her Divine Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. As a loving Mother, she watched over Jesus as a baby through adulthood. As a Mother, she identifies our suffering with his and she intercedes on our behalf through the love Jesus has for us. Being one in the Lord in not just a slogan especially when we are truly one in the Lord with Mother Mary as our Mother as well.

mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.

the-sin-of-the-world-tattoo-124451This life is filled with everything, good and evil. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, that gives us hope, but there is also free will and some choose to do evil. We see in our families both love and support, and at the same time despair and anger.

Life in Christ is not simply a bed of roses, but through Christ, we are given the power to overcome evil through His grace. We are also given the power to forgive others which is necessary for our own personal growth in the Lord.

To be like Him, we offer up our sufferings to unite them with His suffering and passion.

Turn then, most gracious Advocate,

This part of the prayer leads to a very important truth, God involves all of us to become partakers to cooperate with His Holy Will. It is true that Jesus is the one Mediator between heaven and earth, God and man. It is through His mediation, that everything else is derived.  The Church, the Saints, the Sacraments, would be meaningless without Him.  The Lord calls for all of us to intercede on behalf of others, especially for those who do not have anyone praying for them.

together1 Timothy 2:1 states, “I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men”.

Asking Mother Mary or the Saints to pray for us is based in our belief that when a person dies, their soul continues to live. From heaven, the Saints do pray for us (Revelation 5:8/8:3) and someday, like Jesus and Mary, we will have a glorified body to house once again, our living souls.

thine eyes of mercy toward us,

When we ask Mother Mary to have mercy, we are asking her as our loving Mother, who is not a goddess, but who is right there with her Son, Jesus Christ, who is God.

We are asking our Mother in heaven to keep her eyes on the world with the grace that God gave her for the love of us. As Queen Bathsheba first interceded before the Court of Solomon on behalf of Israel, Mother Mary continues to do the same with an infinite greater good for the people of God.

Psalms 45 states, “Hear, O daughter, consider, and incline your ear; forget your people and your novena-queen-peace-lebanon-peoplefather’s house; and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your Lord, bow to him; the people of Tyre will sue your favor with gifts, the richest of the people with all kinds of wealth. The princess is decked in her chamber with gold-woven robes; in many colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions, her escort, in her train. With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. Instead of your fathers shall by your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth. I will cause your name to be celebrated in all generations; therefore the peoples will praise you forever and ever”(Psalms 45:9-17).

Notice that the richest people seeks the Queens (Mother Mary) favor! This is not speaking really of wealth, but of a spiritual richness. To be rich in spirit.

and after this our exile,

children_in_exileUntil we are in heaven, we are in exile, awaiting for the glorious coming of our Lord Jesus Christ who will one day come again and His Kingdom will have no end.

1 Corinthians 2:9 states, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

That is so great a hope for all of the faithful.

show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb,

At the greeting of Mary, St. Elizabeth exclaimed, “Most blessed are you among women” (Luke 1:42) as she recognized that the words of the angel given to Mary were true.

Mary is blessed for her faith and obedience to the will of God. Judith in the Old Testament is a type of Mary because of her faith and in what she had down. Judith literally by her hand saved the Israelites from certain destruction, yet, God worked a miracle through her.

Judith 15:10 states, “With your own hand you have done all this: you have done good to Israel, and God is pleased with what you have wrought. May you be blessed by the Lord Almighty forever and ever!” picLikewise, because of Mary’s Yes, and her obedience to do God’s will, through her love of God, by her hand, she brought into the world the King of Kings who won the war.

Mary spoke of herself, “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.”

Mary is identifying herself with the Queen of Psalms 45 (vs 10) whom the Lord promised, “I will make your name renowned through all generations; thus nations shall praise you forever.”Psalms 45:18

Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, although he be dead, shall live”. Jesus will not refuse His Mother for her request, and I have no problem asking her to remember me when she is present asking Jesus of any request. Jesus honored the Commandments greater than anyone else who ever lived.

O merciful,

We are all called to show mercy to those who have harmed us, this is central to offering forgiveness for all offenses. We humbly come before Jesus asking for His Mercy. The Virgin Mary’s heart was pierced by a sword, and our sin had something to do with that. If you truly love Jesus, through that love, it is good and right to recognize that when you invite the Blessed Virgin Mary into your house, do it with humility. You want to touch the Heart of Christ in a deep way, respect His Mother!

O loving,

mary50God so loved the world, God is love. The woman who bore Him, who would become literally the “Ark of the New Covenant”, always points to Jesus.

Her love for Jesus compels her to love all of us, as we should also love others.

O sweet Virgin Mary!

Sampson once asked the riddle, “Out of the eater came something to eat, And out of the strong came something sweet.” The meaning of the riddle was “What is sweeter than honey and stronger than a lion”. Sampson had killed a lion with his bare hands, and was talking about himself. But Mother Mary is sweeter than honey because as the women of Genesis 3:15, she was greater than the serpent.

Very true! If you get the chance to take a gander at Mary Ann Collins sad misrepresentation of the Catholic Church, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Jesus, please remember to pray for not only her, but for all who have abandoned the Catholic Faith.

James 5:19-20 states, “My brothers, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”

The Guardian Angel: Begging God For Mercy

Posted by Donald Hartley - July 7th, 2015

We should be on our knees begging God for Mercy, as we live in a Nation begging for HIS judgment.

St_Alphonsus_LiguoriAlfonso M Dei Liguori, in his book PREPARATION TO DEATH Exhorts the reader never to waste time, with the following words: “Time is a treasure which is found only in this life. It is not found in the next one: Neither in Hell nor in Heaven. In Hell the damned constantly cry out saying: Oh, if we only had one more hour! They would pay any price just to have one more at their disposal in order to remedy their eternal loss, however they will never have this hour. “

Jesus told Pilot, “the reason I came was to bear witness to the truth” and to follow the teachings of the Word Incarnate, we also must bear witness to the truth. They crucified Jesus for telling the truth, and they will persecute those that are willing to tell the truth. But we are called to do that to help bring souls to HIM who are headed to Hell for eternity, as they do what is right in their own eyes, instead of God’s. We live in a time of emotions and feelings, that have nothing to do with ‘Truth’. So spend your time in repenting, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

God once and for all defined marriage as the exclusive union of one man and one woman. No majority of jurists, legislators, clerics or voters in any state of this Union, or the world itself, possesses the moral, legal or Constitutional right to re-define what God Himself has once for all explicitly established, ordained, and defined as the highest authority in the Universe.

Any individual from the president to a state governor who authorizes alterations to or issuance of marriage licenses to any same-sex couples in any state will be doing so in violation of the Constitution of this United States of America and more importantly the Word of Almighty God and will be acting illegally since any law or court opinion not in accordance with God’s Divinely Revealed Word (“the laws of nature and Nature’s God”) is, by definition, legally null and void.

indexThe Church has nothing to learn from the world, quite the opposite, in fact, and the world does not believe it is wrong, so dialog is pointless. This is what the Church has to re-learn, to reacquire: the truthfulness of Her own convictions, that the world is to be engaged to the extent that it is willing to be saved. We must be on fire for the truth.

The world lies when it says it is wrong to give offense. That’s a lie. We must do it in love, so It is wrong to look for ways to give offense, to intend to give offense, but it is not wrong to say the truth and the hearer to be offended by it.

What does God say for their eternity which could start at any moment? In Romans first Chapter starting at 18 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.20 Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse; 21 for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct. 29 They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips, 30 landerers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God’s decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but approve those who practice them.”

HomosexualsThen in First Corinthians: In 1 Corinthians 6:9,10, it says, 9 “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

This is the bottom line for those that understand that the most important thing we can do is to bring souls to the Lord for eternity, it is some of the greatest love we can give to our fellow man to be a vessel used by God to speak the truth, even if it offends those that cannot hear HIS voice. Everyone has a free will to accept or reject the truth, and sadly many will reject it.

Let us proclaim the Truth of God which is love, even though it will offend those not in the Truth. Also, I want to apologize to those that are truly Catholic for the embarrassment of Justice Kennedy actually claiming to be Catholic, when his actions show he is Catholic in name only, and I would be sad if he were my child as he helps put so many at risk for eternity by giving an opinion that is traitorous to God, family, and country. Yet he does fit the mold of the judicial activists that have gone before him in the Dred Scott Case saying that blacks were property, and the Roe vs. Wade Case saying it was proper to murder innocent babies, and now to be used by those seeking to destroy the family by forcing the acceptance of Sodomy on the country, he becomes no more than a judicial tyrant, and should be defied and reviled, and yet prayed for, as he may surely go to hell if he does not repent publicly for this public nightmare that spits in the face of a Holy God.

“Better that only a few Catholics should be left, staunch and sincere in their religion than that they should, remaining many, desire as it were, to be in conclusion with the Church’s enemies and in conformity with the open foes of our faith.” Peter Conecius, Doctor of the Church, wrote the first Catechism of the Catholic Church.
