The Catholic Defender: Are The Medes Being Stirred

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 31st, 2016

Jeremiah 1“The word of the LORD came to me, saying: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you. But do you gird your loins; stand up and tell them all that I command you. Be not crushed on their account, as though I would leave you crushed before them; for it is I this day who have made you a fortified city, a pillar of iron, a wall of brass, against the whole land: against Judah’s kings and princes, against its priests and people. They will fight against you but not prevail over you, for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.”

This scripture text coming from Jeremiah 1:4-5, 17-19 is used many times to defend unborn children. As Jeremiah was known by Our Lord beginning in the womb, that applies to all of us. In this text, the Lord is revealing to Jeremiah that from his beginning, God had a plan for him. Again, this applies to all of us as well.

Like Moses had been called at the burning bush, and then again at Passover, Jeremiah is being instructed by God to gird his loins. He is to follow the Lord’s command. Ephesians 6:14-16, “Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one.”

jesus_before_pilate_jekelThere is a constant theme here, we are to be ready because the days are coming says the Lord that the world will have to answer because of disobedience. Isaiah 13:11 warns, “I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant, and lay low the haughtiness of the ruthless.”

Consider what is taking place in Christian Europe today? We are watching a Syrian invasion that has never been seen before. The vast majority of Syrian refugees are raging havoc pillaging and raping all over Europe. It really feels as if Europe is lost? What is happening is truly tragic and most “refugees” are young men without a family, who are what Presidential Candidate, Donald J. Trump calls a “Trojan Horse”.

The weak Governments of Europe have maintained a “political correctness” that emboldens these Muslim refugees to go and rape and pillage, to kill. I know that some are trying to get these refugees to assimilate into the European was of life. They are providing seminars to share with the Muslim brotherhood thinking that they will learn to respect women. This is incredible and there are some in America who wants to bring this nonsense here by the thousands.

Jeremiah 2Something has happened in the Western world with the rise of militant feminism that has brought about a decline of the Family, the rise of homosexuality, abortion, and the attack on faith in America. What has happened in Europe may be irreversible, with the exclusion of war, caused by civil strife.

Returning to Isaiah 13 beginning with verse 14, “And like a hunted gazelle, or like sheep with none to gather them, every man will turn to his own people, and every man will flee to his own land. Whoever is found will be thrust through, and whoever is caught will fall by the sword. Their infants will be dashed in pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered and their wives ravished. Behold, I am stirring up the Medes against them, who have no regard for silver and do not delight in gold. Their bows will slaughter the young men; they will have no mercy on the fruit of the womb; their eyes will not pity children.”

Jeremiah 3What is happening here? First, Jeremiah was called by God to preach repentance to God’s people, but he was rejected by the king and Israel even to the point of being placed in a cistern (Jeremiah 38:6). The Israelites did not listen to God’s word and were then enslaved by Babylon.

Look at what has happened in the Western world since 1973 and the Supreme Court’s decision “Roe V Wade” which legalized abortion in America? Isaiah warns that the Medes (modern day Irag/Iran) would dash to pieces their infants? Children have suffered a great deal in America. Abortion was sold that it would decrease child abuse, since 1973, child abuse is up 400% since 1973. Also, I will maintain that abortion is the worse form of child abuse.

Another statement coming from Isaiah, “their houses will be plundered and their wives ravished.” In a better day, men were seen as protecting their family, their wives and children. Isaiah’s text would be what happens when a fallen nation suffers as the conquers take the spoils. But what is happening here in America largely is not because of a foreign power, it is mostly coming from within.

A case can be said that America has been invaded by millions of people coming across our Southern Boarder. Our politicians can’t find the political will to close off the threat of invasion. There are thousand of incidences where Americans have been hurt by illegal aliens. We are asleep at the wheel.

Jeremiah 4One more point coming from Isaiah, “Behold, I am stirring up the Medes against them, who have no regard for silver and do not delight in gold. Their bows will slaughter the young men; they will have no mercy on the fruit of the womb; their eyes will not pity children.” The Children of God will be punished because of their disobedience. The Medes here represent the evil that “will slaughter the young men: they will have no mercy on the fruit of the womb; their eyes will not pity children”.

Since 1973, in the United States, we have killed nearly 60,000,000 children who were not protected within their mother’s womb. The Progressive Liberal celebrates this tragic fact. Like Jeremiah, everyone of them God knew while they were being formed in their mother’s womb. Who among us will answer the call to proclaim God’s word and preach repentance to the Nations?

Trump-Rubio-Cruz-AP-640x423We are about to elect a new president and we better really pray that we place a leader who will honor God’s name, will honor God’s ways, and will focus on bringing back what America was founded on and what the Constitution maintains.

Today, I believe the best man to accomplish this will be Donald Trump. He is not being elected to be bible study in chief, though he should be immersed in it, but he would be elected to bring America back into greatness. God is the complete answer…

Are we beyond the point of no return? As Abraham interceded for a lost Sodom and Gomorrah, we better take serious the call to repentance before it is too late (2 Chronicles 7:14).

God our Father, Giver of life, we entrust the United States of America to Your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people. Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation´s leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will. Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the “culture of death.” Lead us into a new millennium of life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.

The Catholic Defender: The Importance Of Celibacy For Our Times

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 29th, 2016

celibacy 1When we think of celibacy, we always think of the Catholic Priesthood, at least the Latin Rite. That is what most people would associate celibacy with, but in truth, we are all called to celibacy at certain points in our lives. Certainly, before marriage, this is the standard in God’s law. Premarital sex (fornication) is a serious mortal sin (Galatian 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:1-6).

During times of separation, like military deployments as an example, while you are away, you are called to be celibate to honor God’s command and to honor your vows to your spouse. When in Rome, do as the Romans do does not apply. It is a matter of being faithful to your spouse.

celibacy-2How tragic it is when someone feels that no one is watching so they go out on the prowl thinking it is ok, but what they don’t expect is catching a terrible disease like HIV. Your wife certainly does not deserve this, I’ve seen it and it is a terrible situation.

The foundations for celibacy in the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church go all the way back to the time of the Apostles.

St. Paul speaks to the challenges of married life and supports those inclined to the religious life.

St. Paul writes, “So this is what I think best because of the present distress: that it is a good thing for a person to remain as he is. Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek a separation. Are you free of a wife? Then do not look for a wife. If you marry, however, you do not sin, nor does the unmarried woman sin if she marries; but such people will experience affliction in their earthly life, and I would like to spare you that” (1 Corinthians 7:26-28).

paulNotice St. Paul refers to the “present distress”, the Catholic Faith was being persecuted first by the Jews and then by the Romans. It was difficult times to raise a family when your trying to survive.

St. Paul connects the problems associated between this distress and the afflictions experienced in this life.

If St. Paul were here today, he might say the same thing for different reasons.

Our society has progressed so far to the left that it is difficult to see anything holy in marriage or outside?

The attacks upon marriage has had it’s affect.

St. Paul continues: “I tell you, brothers, the times is running out. From now on, let those having wives act as not having them, those weeping as not weeping, those rejoicing as not rejoicing, those buying as not owning, those using the world as not using it fully. For the world in its present form is passing away” (1 Corinthians 7:29-31).

celibacy 4St. Paul seems to be writing as if there was another passover taking place, we must be on the ready, much like that first passover when they ate with their loins girt, sandals on their feet, and staff in hand.

The Israelites were commanded to eat like those who were in flight.

This seems to be the feel that St. Paul was giving because of that “present distress” and that fierce persecution.

St. Paul continues, “I should like you to be free of anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit. A married woman, on the other hand, is anxious about the things of the world, how she may please her husband” (1 Corinthians 7:32-34).

celibacy 2Clearly, St. Paul sees being unmarried as an advantage in overcoming the present difficulties experienced in the world.

Today, the Catholic Church echos this sentiment wanting couples asking to be married to discern if this was truly what the Lord is wanting in their lives.

It is so easy to marry for the wrong reasons, especially because of the glorification of self gratification.

There is so much immorality today that it would be difficult to find an unmarried woman who is a virgin?

celibacy 3If sex was love, then the United States would be a very loving country?

Critics of celibacy will attack the Catholic Faith for promoting something that is so out of date, it is not expected or realistic to think that anyone could possibly remain faithful in their celibacy.

Some will even say that Jesus himself never supported celibacy?

Matthew 19:12 Jesus says, “Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it.”

Jesus is clearly showing that those who renounce marriage for the sake of the kingdom of heaven “ought to accept it”.

celibacy 5This is the position of the Catholic Church! It is a calling! Luke 18:29 Jesus says, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God who will not receive back an overabundant return in this present age and eternal life in the age to come.”

A religious who chooses to live the religious life as a priest, brother, or sister are accepting for their lives the higher reward from the Lord in their service to Him.

It is coming from His holy Catholic Church the mission and God’s grace to fulfill this mission.

IMG_0308.JPG SNNEWS ORDAINThe enemies of Christ hate the purity of what celibacy means to the servant of God. To put God first in all things is something the progressive liberal cannot accept.

It is a contradiction to the world that says you can’t do it, that you must be liberated from the kingdom of God.

Celibacy actually represents liberation from the bondage of sin and it’s power.

No question celibacy is a challenge and the religious have to overcome many temptations, but the secularist can’t reason this for the modern age.

Yet, celibacy is a deep sign of the love for God in his service.

celibacy 7Notice the hatred displayed here by George Lujack, an anti-Catholic who spills this kind of hate on Facebook:

“There can be no doubt that homosexuality is CONDONED among the Catholic clergy. They certainly DO NOT condemn it, except in the pulpit, but then they must believe that this “perverted sin,” along with pedophilia, is something that they as Catholic priests are entitled to.”

People like this are devoid of anything Christ like.

They are filled with hate for the Catholic Faith. It is interesting that during the midst of the “priest scandal” the media, the Church, the law, went back 50 years wanting to uncover every rock and the most they found was about 3%.

George and company will condemn the 97% who were innocent.

Speaking to the priest scandal, the real problem faced by society is that many homosexual’s seem to connect and are often times associated with Pedophiles. They are stalkers who look for opportunities to find victims. They will go where children can be found such as day care centers, schools, families. In fact abuse comes mostly from family members and the victims know their abductors. We need to protect our children and the Catholic Church is a leader today insuring that anyone who is a leader in the Church, priest, religious teachers, must have security background checks and training to be able to lead bible studies, prayer, picnics… This helps everyone involved.

Dr. James Dobson of “Focus On The Family” took an inward study of their own and found that within Non-Catholic Pastors, there were something like 30% of sexual sin to include child molestation.

celibacy 8This ranks far worse that what was uncovered against Catholic Priests.

Not only this, but Protestant Ministers have a divorce rate about 50% near the national average.

That would play havoc on a Catholic Parish.

Even though Non-Catholic Pastors have a married clergy, they have a much higher incidence of sexual immorality.

The attack on celibacy is not because of celibacy itself, it is because it is coming from the Catholic Faith.

Anything that the Catholic Faith does, the world will attack no matter how pure and good it is.

chaplains 19We as Catholics must remain strong united in the same mind and purpose (1 Corinthians 1:10).

On the question of Marriage, the Catholic Church lifts it as a Sacrament, it is holy.

Like celibacy, marriage is under attack as is the family. Deepertruth wants to help lead the prayer for our religious as well as our families!

Gracious and loving God, we thank your for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen.

The Guardian Angel: Eucharistic Miracle of TIXTLA MEXICO, OCTOBER 21, 2006

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 26th, 2016

Guardian 1(Editors Note) We love to share Eucharistic Miracles here on Deepertruth and on our Radio shows, the Lord Jesus is so good. This miracle that we are about to share is amazing, I want to thank my Brother, the Guardian Angel, for his continued growth. May this jubilee, the Year of Mercy be a year of grace for the Church and for the world.

Awesome!!! Eucharistic Miracle to prepare you for a special blessing, God knows the past, present and future. HE is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Hebrew 13:8). He put us here at this moment in time and in this place knowing full well the gravity of the moral decay of our times. His grace if overflowing in abundance and we must tap into this infinite storehouse of grace. We should be ashamed if we set back and allow lives and souls to be lost during our watch.

Jesus and MaryIt could be contended that we live in the most highly educated nation in the world’s history. But, except for a small remnant, most Catholics in America are abysmally ignorant of God’s laws and His promises as taught by the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. We have to work at getting past the rhetoric, and taking action for the lives and souls of the children and our neighbors. Why are we doing this, “to honor and glorify Jesus” and take action to bring souls to HIM through HIS Mother Mary.

As you have heard me say before, “This is no game, it is a WAR against the powers and principalities for the lives and souls of our children and neighbors for eternity.” It is a War of ideas and philosophy and values, and only the Catholic Church has the fullness of truth and the answers. Unless true and loyal Catholics have the zeal and the spirit of the early Christians, and unless they are willing to do what they did and to pay the price that they paid, the days of many Catholics are numbered.

guardian 2All of us have family and friends that have fallen away from the faith, or have never came home to the Catholic Church, or maybe we have been at some time, or have family members that are luke warm in their faith. You have seen the indifference that plagues the world and is even in our Church. It says in Hosea 4:6, “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” On our watch, people are dying and going to Hell, and again we have those we know that are at risk, as many are doing what is right in their own eyes, like in the days of Noah (Matthew 24:37).

What was once referred to by Pope Paul VI as Satan’s smoke making its way into the temple of God, could be looked at today as a raging fire. Catholicism and the world seem to be in the worst crisis in the entire history of the world. Even with all this evil in the world, we have been given the greatest gift in the Catholic Church, the Mass, the Eucharist, and Mary, yet many by the Churches own research are weak in these areas and many others. Like Cardinal Burke said, we have had poor Catechizes for the last 50 years, and because of that many are at risk.

tum 0With the Eucharistic Miracles, we are always trusting of God and hope we can help catechize and affirm many Catholic’s faith, help draw others back to the Catholic church, and bring still others home to the Catholic church for the first time as they “get it”.

Again, this is no game, we are talking about lives and souls, send this to those you love, and all that God has put into your path. Help yourself and others become better equipped and affirmed in your faith. Each of us needs to be a part of this for ourselves and those we love, living in this decaying culture. Divine Mercy is always our theme as we ask Our Lady, the Mother of Mercy to bring us and those we love, ever closer to her Son. To Jesus through Mary, GregoryMary

Now prepare to be excited, as science again affirms the supernatural in another Eucharistic Miracle given to us out of the Divine Mercy and Love of our Creator.

Eucharistic Miracle of TIXTLA MEXICO, OCTOBER 21, 2006

On October 12, 2013, H.E. Most Rev. Alejo Zavala Castro, Bishop of the Diocese of Chilpancingo-Chilapa, announced through a Pastoral Letter the recognition of the Eucharistic Miracle that occurred at Tixtla, on October 21, 2006.

guardian 3In the letter we read: “This manifestation brings to us a marvelous sign of the love of God that confirms the Real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist… In my role as Bishop of the Diocese I recognize the supernatural character of the series of events relating to the Bleeding Host of Tixtla… I declare the case as a “Divine Sign …”.

On October 21, 2006, the effusion of a reddish substance was noted from a consecrated Host during the Eucharistic Celebration at Tixtla, in the Diocese of Chilpancingo-Chilapa. The Bishop of the place, Most Reverend Alejo Zavala Castro, then convened a Theological Commission of investigation and, in October 2009, he invited Doctor Ricardo Castañón Gómez, to take on the leadership of the program of scientific research whose purpose was in fact that of verifying the said event.

The Mexican Ecclesiastical authorities turned to Doctor Castañón Gómez because they were aware that, in the years 1999-2006, the scientist had conducted some studies on two consecrated Hosts that also bled in the Parish of Saint Mary, in Buenos Aires.

guardian 4The Mexican case starts in October 2006, when Father Leopoldo Roque, pastor of the Parish of Saint Martin of Tours, invites Father Raymundo Reyna Esteban to lead a spiritual retreat for his parishioners. As Father Leopoldo and another priest were distributing Communion, assisted by a religious sister who was to the left of Father Raymundo, this latter one turns towards him with the “pix” containing the Sacred Particles, looking at Father with eyes filled with tears, an incident that immediately attracted the attention of the celebrant: the Host that she had taken to give Communion to a lady parishioner had begun to effuse a reddish substance.

“The ecclesiastical authority wanted likewise to specify that in a Catholic context the Miracle distinguishes itself for the following aspects: 1. Theological: The intervention comes from God. It is of divine origin. 2. Objectivity: The ‘alteration’ of the causes or natural laws is evident. 3. Subjectivity: Whoever accepts the miracle ‘recognizes or accepts’ with an act of Faith that the extraordinary event comes from the loving Will of God. 4. Purpose: It has as its end the good of one or many people.”

guardian 5The scientific research conducted between October 2009 and October 2012 came to the following conclusions, presented on May 25, 2013 during the course of an international Symposium held by the Diocese of Chilpancingo, on the occasion of the Year of Faith, and which saw the participation of millions of people coming from four continents:

1. The reddish substance analyzed corresponds to blood in which there are hemoglobin and DNA of human origin.

guardian 62. Two studies conducted by eminent forensic experts with different methodologies have shown that the substance originates from the interior, excluding the hypothesis that someone could have placed it from the exterior.

3.The blood type is AB, similar to the one found in the Host of Lanciano and in the Holy Shroud of Turin.

4. A microscopic analysis of magnification and penetration reveals that the superior part of the blood has been coagulated since October 2006. Moreover, the underlying internal layers reveal, in February 2010, the presence of fresh blood.

5. They also found intact white blood cells, red blood cells, and active macrophages that engulf lipids. The tissue in question appears lacerated and with recovery mechanisms, exactly as occurs in a living tissue.

guardian 76. A further histopathological analysis determines the presence of protein structures in a state of deterioration, suggesting mesenchymal cells, very specialized cells, characterized by an elevated biophysiological dynamism.

7. The immunohistochemical studies reveal that the tissue found corresponds to the muscle of the heart (Myocardium). On account of the scientific results and the conclusions reached by the theological committee, last October 12 the Bishop of Chilpancingo, his Eminence Alejo Zavala Castro, announced the following: - “The event does not have a natural explanation. – It does not have paranormal origin. – It is not traceable to manipulation of the enemy.”

Blood flowed from the interior of the host towards the exterior, as it occurs with a wound.

In 2010, by means of a study of digital microscopic penetration through the shooting of ultraviolet rays and intense white light it was demonstrated that the tissue seen in the upper part of the Host showed some dry coagulated blood. The analyses showed moreover that under the Blood already coagulated beyond some structures of the white Host, there was also the presence of fresh Blood. Also this analysis confirmed the fact that the blood was not placed by someone from the exterior because if it were like this it could not remain fresh for so much time (from 2006 to 2010) only in the internal part of the Host.

guardian 8By analyzing the Host it was observed that it was human blood of type AB and that it corresponded to tissue. Then an analysis was done of phytochemical markers which confirmed that it was live cardiac muscle. No study exists that can maintain alive a cardiac tissue in this situation. Normally after 48 hours the tissue dies, here 3 months passed before the result could be obtained and this is truly unexplainable for science.

When there is the presence of human DNA one thinks that also the genetic profile can be automatically obtained. Interestingly in all the studies performed on the images that sweated blood or in the consecrated Hosts that have bled the presence of DNA was found, but when the work of sequencing to extract the genetic profile was done, they were never able to obtain it. The theologians say that since Jesus does not have a father, his father is the Holy Spirit, it is not possible to obtain his genetic profile.

“For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of profaning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.” 1 Corinthians 11:26-30

The Catholic Defender: Gamaliel And His Wisdom Continues To Be True

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 25th, 2016

PhariseeCrop“But a Pharisee in the council named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, held in honor by the people, stood up and ordered the men (Apostles) to be put outside for a while. And he said to them, Men of Israel, take care what you do with these men. For before these days Theudas arose, giving himself out to be somebody, and a number of men, about 400, joined him; but he was slain and all who followed him were dispersed and came to nothing. After him Judas the Galilean arose in the days of the census and drew away some of the people after him; he also perished, and all who followed him were scattered. So in the present case I tell you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or undertaking is of men, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God”!

Yes, when you oppose the Catholic Faith, you are really opposing God, perhaps unknowingly.   During this time period of Jesus public Ministry, there were many looking for the Messiah. Many false messiahs were abounding and led people astray.

GiveUsBarabbasPeople such as Theudas and Judas the Galilean were two that Gamaliel refereed to specifically.

Mark 9:38-41, perhaps a follower of one such false prophet found in Jesus something that the false messiahs lacked. St. Mark states, “John said to him, Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us. But Jesus said, Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is for us. For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward”.

The Apostles recognized this man was not of their number and forbade him from working in Jesus name. This man perhaps a follower of Theudas did not know Jesus personally, but was acting from what he had observed.

jesus_feeds_5000_4-web-size11St. Mark recognized that these false messiahs did not have the signs that Jesus had been known to do. This was still Pre-Church as the Lord was still instructing his Disciples.

The time was coming when Jesus would be sending the Catholic Church to the nations.

The Church would unite the Captives under the Lord’s command as it will preach the good news to all the nations.

St. Paul would add his experience with Gamaliel:

paul 6Paul addressed the people in these words: “I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city. At the feet of Gamaliel I was educated strictly in our ancestral law and was zealous for God, just as all of you are today. I persecuted this Way to death, binding both men and women and delivering them to prison. Even the high priest and the whole council of elders can testify on my behalf. For from them I even received letters to the brothers and set out for Damascus to bring back to Jerusalem in chains for punishment those there as well.”

But something happens to St. Paul on the road not far from Damascus:

damascusroad“On that journey as I drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from the sky suddenly shone around me. I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ I replied, ‘Who are you, sir?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazorean whom you are persecuting.’ My companions saw the light but did not hear the voice of the one who spoke to me. I asked, ‘What shall I do, sir?’ The Lord answered me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told about everything appointed for you to do.’ Since I could see nothing because of the brightness of that light, I was led by hand by my companions and entered Damascus.”

Many are called by the Lord, but few are chosen (like St. Paul) to be apostles to serve the Lord. St. Paul was made an apostle by Jesus for our benefit, to give God’s grace through the Ministry of the Church. St. Paul himself would literally be led by the hand as an example for us, the importance to come before the Throne of God’s grace:

ananias 1“A certain Ananias, a devout observer of the law, and highly spoken of by all the Jews who lived there, came to me and stood there and said, ‘Saul, my brother, regain your sight.’ And at that very moment I regained my sight and saw him. Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors designated you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of his voice; for you will be his witness before all to what you have seen and heard. Now, why delay? Get up and have yourself baptized and your sins washed away, calling upon his name.’”

Gamaliel’s sound advice is a testament to the truth of the Catholic Faith as it has lasted 2,000 years. Every Catholic ordained shares in this apostolic benefit God ministers to His people. By accepting the Sacraments, we share in the great Mystery of faith handed down.

BaptismThere will always be Theu’das, Judas the Galilean, or other modern day groups who seek to impose their false interpretations, but the Catholic Faith will never fall.

O Almighty and Eternal God, look upon the Face of Thy Christ, and for love of Him Who is the eternal High-priest, have pity on Thy priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the Bishop’s hands. Keep them close to Thee, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.  Amen.

The Catholic Defender: The Road To The White House Intensifies Leading To Iowa

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 23rd, 2016

catholic defenderI have been following the Republican Candidates for several months beginning with Ted Cruz when he first entered the Presidential race.  At that point, I really like Ted Cruz, certainly respecting him keeping his word standing up against Obamacare when most ran and hid from their campaign promises.

It was not long before people were breaking into this race, better than 15 candidates, during this time, business man Donald Trump entered the race. That became a national sensation as Donald Trump took on the Establishment, the media, the other Candidates, and the anti-Trump crowd like certain groups of Hispanics (illegal immigrants), and just about everybody.

cruz-trump1I began to take notice and my top two Candidates were Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. At first, I took the opinion that from all these Republican Candidates, I would ultimately choose the winner.

I began to admire Donald Trump for taking the stands he did that brought issues to the forefront, immigration, Veterans, Jobs, Terrorism, just everything down the line. He seemed to take the lead on all these issues.

Because of the anti-Trump opposition, I began defending Trump, for me it was fine if you oppose him because you have another Candidate you like, but to go after him because of his past positions really bothered me. Especially coming from those who claimed to be Christian. I thought of this as breaking the 8th Commandment (9th if your Protestant). So I have been literally pushed to the Trump team because of all these false attacks.

cruz trump 2Because of the recent attacks back and forth between Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, I guess we can count out a Trump/Cruz ticket.

I’ve been on the “Trump for President”  Facebook page to keep up with what was coming out from Donald Trump’s camp, and I found myself posting there with positive information. The following is a letter written to the National Review publication that went after Trump in my view, unjustly:

(Patti Pryor) originally responded with the following letter to a post I left on Trump’s Facebook page.

cruz trump 4YES you are correct, here is a letter my husband sent to the Review…>>

To the editors of the National Review,

As a small business owner, I took on a troika of developers and their political cronies to re-shape one of Michigan’s top cities by breaking up their monopoly on zoning. Within nine years of holding office (6 years as a Councilman and 3 as Mayor), we brought in over 8 billion dollars of new development and were ranked number one in every measurable category from bond rating to public safety. During my term as Mayor 2001-2004 we lowered taxes all three years and paved more roads than in the entire history of the city going back to 1995. My credentials as a conservative, graduate of The University of Michigan and as a business owner fly in the face of your description of Trump supporters.

Needless to say, I dealt with a lot of developers. Unlike many business owners who need only curry the favor of politicians a few times in their careers, developers must deal with politicians at every step. They have to make friends with and support politicians on both sides of the aisle (especially in a swing state like Michigan) or they will be screwed by them at every step of the process from zoning to building permits, inspections and tax exemptions.

cruz trump 5No conservatives like tax exemptions. However, until they are eliminated for everyone (which they never will be) all businesses and developers must play with the hands they are dealt. Condemnation should be a last resort in all cases, yet without it there would never be a single road, bridge or pipeline built.

What I find with virtually every developer that I have ever known – is that their kids are often far more outspoken in support of overall conservative values. This reflects discussions at their dinner tables (i.e. the views of their parents). Yet, pragmatically, in public, they must deal with the reality that the “pure Conservative/Libertarian” world advocated by the likes of Glenn Beck simply doesn’t exist. I also observed developers to support far more charitable causes than most businesses – a trait exemplified by Donald Trump.

As someone of solid conservative credentials, I will be supporting Donald Trump (just as I did Ronald Reagan). A pox upon those of you who want to shove status quo and ineffective idealism down our throats. I’ll take a successful pragmatist like Reagan or Trump over what you have to offer any day.

cruz trump 3Matt Pryor
Former Mayor of: Troy, Michigan

I thank both Patti and Matt for allowing me to share this letter sent to the National Review.

As this was taking place I have been debating people who do support Ted Cruz both on my Facebook page as well as others where issues were being debated.

If you support Ted Cruz, that is your right, mind too if I end up voting for him, but at this point, I am strongly in the Trump camp because of the issues being debated. If your attacking Donald Trump, Glenn Beck, I am talking to you, leave his wife and children out of it! That greatly offended me and if you had attacked my wife like you did Trump’s wife, I might not have been so silent.

dth5It is one thing to question a person’s past, all that is in play, but to go after someone whose mind has been changed on Abortion, Gay Marriage, if Trump supported those things now, this would be no debate, but since he has changed his mind, I am willing to give him that benefit.  I did the same for Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr!

I look forward for the upcoming debate next week on Fox and this should be very interesting with the recent debates. Cruz is a polished debater and this is his playing field, Donald Trump has some kind of charisma, this will be good. I see this principally a two man race at this time.

Iowa and America will be watching and may the best man (or woman and I do not mean Hillary) win.

The Catholic Defender: Norma McCorvey, The Roe V Wade Abortion Girl, Now, Catholic Convert-Prolife

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 22nd, 2016

Norma 2I remember the 1970′s fairly well, I remember being a Los Angeles Lakers fan as I followed then Basketball great, Wilt Chamberlain, I loved the Kansas City Chiefs who started out the 1970′s winning Superbowl IV. I was involved in sports all my life, I guess you can say I was raised as an average America kid living on a farm in southern Missouri. Taking care of the live stalk, riding horses, rounding cattle, living about seven miles from the school. To be able to play ball, I had to use my feet getting home after practices, games, plays, I certainly had a lot of opportunities for character building. I’ll never forget walking and running home in the rain, snow, ice, heat, that’s how strong my desire was to play ball.

At that time, my Catholic Faith was still growing, the usual debate between Mom and I was where were we going to Mass, Stockton, where they had donuts after Mass or Humansville where Mom thought it was much closer. I am so thankful for my Mother’s strong faith which really gave me a great foundation for my faith.

Norma 1Unfortunately, I was not much about the news and when the issue of Roe V Wade going up to the Supreme Court in 1973, I was too young to realize what was going on. It wasn’t until Ronald Reagan ran for President against Jimmy Carter that I first became aware of what took place that dreadful day on January 23, 1973.  I was amazed that Jimmy Carter was a Baptist who defended abortion?  It was here that I understood what Christ meant when He spoke about those who lifted the traditions of men above the Law of God.  Those who place their political party above the Church?

Those who were wanting to legalize Abortion originally sought to win States over to their cause, but even the most liberal States where they thought they could get a foot hold didn’t support Abortion. So, as liberals do when they can’t win with the vote, they took it to court. This is where Norma McCorvey becomes involved in this tragic story.

Norma McCorvey was raised in a bad family situation where she suffered abuse, by age 13 her parents divorced, and she would drop out of high school. McCorvey would marry Elwood McCorvey at age 16 where she continued to suffer from low self esteem, drug abuse, and could never find that love that gave her self redemption. She would have two children, but coming from a poor environment, in 1969, a third pregnancy became very difficult for her. She ended up giving this child up for adoption.

norma 7Friends of hers encouraged her to claim this pregnancy was due to rape, and by this time, Liberal feminists Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee were looking for a case they wanted to use to challenge State Laws banning abortion. Since no State would support their demand for abortion, they wanted to push the courts and they found Norma McCorvey through an adoption attorney?

Do you think that the Feminist Women’s movement wanted to make Norma McCorvey an Icon for Women’s rights? Not at all, they used Norma giving her the identity of “Jane Roe” and in March, 1970, the case was brought forward using the “all women similarly situated” base to challenge State Law through the Supreme Court.

Being from Texas, Texas Law banned abortion so the Feminist took the case to Washington. It took the Supreme Court until 1973 before the case was brought before them. The consideration that the Court used for abortion: “Does the Constitution embrace the right of a woman to obtain an abortion, nullifying the Texas prohibition?” For this question, the Court had to dehumanize the unborn child. The Fetus, a Latin word meaning “small person” had to be reused to dehumanize the child.

norma 8What the Court originally ruled was to allow abortion setting up conditions of the first, second, and third trimesters. Question concerning when life was viable had a small part to play, but for several years, the Feminist took the argument pushing abortion for cases of rape, incest, deformation of the child, and mother’s life. However, in the past few years, the Feminist have all but dropped this line of argument and totally pushed the “woman’s right to choose” giving no reason for an abortion. Abortion is simply classified for mental hardship, work, financial issues knowing that politics would cloud the issue among voters.

The Supreme Court ruled that a woman had the right to privacy (Griswold v. Connecticut) and based their decision of the 14th Amendment. This decision took away the voice of the people and the States, giving the right for abortion during the pregnancy with some regulation of the second and third trimesters. Since this dreadful decision, nearly 60,000,000 unborn children have been butchered and paid for using tax dollars.

norma 6In the early years following this decision, Norma McCorvey remained hidden in the public mind, she would always be this mysterious “Jane Roe” that legalized abortion. Eventually, Norma McCorvey came out in public revealing her true identity. As a result, she did receive the threat of violence, even gun shots aimed at her house. She also was harassed in public places like grocery stores. Finally, she moved to Washington D.C. where she began working in abortion clinics.

In 1994, Norma McCorvey published her book, “I am Roe: My Life, Roe V.Wade, and Freedom of Choice”. Clearly, in the early years following the Supreme Court’s terrible decision, Norma McCorvey would fall under the pro-choice umbrella. Norma would confess, “Back in 1973, I was a very confused twenty-one year old with one child and facing an unplanned pregnancy, At the time I fought to obtain a legal abortion, but truth be told, I have three daughters and never had an abortion.”

norma 9How many women today could identify with what happened to Norma McCorvey who was abused as a child. Stats continue to show that one in three girls are abused. Consider what this abuse does to the child. It is horrible, robbing the self-worth of those being abused, the vast majority coming from a relative, a father, an uncle, a cousin… Many of these women follow that modal, they get involved in drugs, prostitution, this just angers me to no end. Those who do this kind of abuse needs to be in prison with no chance of parole. This subject bothers me because these girls deserve a chance to be who they want to be, they have self respect. As fathers, our daughters should be the apple of our eye, but this darkness that bind men, I believe through pornography as a great influence, should be destroyed.

Something happens to Norma McCorvey in 1995, something that defies all human logic and understanding, something happens to McCorvey, she has an encounter with the risen Christ. She finally accepted the one who was with her through her dark years. In 1998, Norma was fully received into the Catholic Faith where she receives the great Sacraments of forgiveness and healing.  She receives the King of kings and Lord of lords at Mass.

norma 5Just doing this story brings tears to my eyes as Norma McCorvey truly finds peace and redemption. And for me she represents all those children being abused who so desperately needs to find the Light of Christ.

Norma McCorvey today says, “Today as a born again Christian and faithful Catholic, I am working to reverse Roe and I am urgently asking for your help right now,” she also states, “I think it’s safe to say that the entire abortion industry is based on a lie…. I am dedicated to spending the rest of my life undoing the law that bears my name,…”

A lot has happened in the fight against abortion which continues to be a major battle, the media largely continues to push the pro-abortion agenda. Each year the Pro-life demonstrations reach the hundreds of thousands that march upon Washington D.C. as well as State Capital buildings throughout the Country. Yet, this is largely ignored by the media, and despite that vast opposition, the media gives equal treatment with the handful of NOW (National Organization of Women) Gang members who love to attack the marchers.

greg 3I was in Iraq when Deepertruth Member, Dr. Gregory Thompson, Ambassador Allen Keyes, Norma McCorvey were among those arrested at Notre Dame standing up for life when President Obama was given an honorary degree and given the chance to speak to the Seniors there. Here you have a pro-abortion activist turned pro-life defending life against an institution that was suppose to be pro-life that disobeyed the USCCB directive and had the most Abortion politician of all time come and speak. What a terrible situation that happened there and Dr. Gregory Thompson has shared his story many times how important it is to defend life. No matter where it is or the cost.

John 1:12 states, “But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God;…” 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, “Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come.” Galation 5:1 states, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand fast therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”

Today, Norma McCorvey stands among the faithful ones, she is a child of God, she is a new creation, she has been set free, no longer a slave. Father Pavone (Priests for Life) speaking of Norma McCorvey, said, “the big temptation on the pro-life side (is) to view this person as a trophy,” That may be so Father, but for me, her light shines so much brighter now than the darkness ever did for her in her early years. It is enough to see the glory of God’s grace at work here, and again, as we continue to stand against abortion all across the Country.

Norma 3It is important to vote pro-life at the voting booth, to know your candidates, and to be that light in your own life for others to see Christ in you. 1 John 4:4 states, ” Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, And never to stop defending life Until all my brothers and sisters are protected, And our nation once again becomes A nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all, Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

The Catholic Defender: The Story of Four Chaplains

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 20th, 2016

Old_Army_Chaplain_Corps_Branch_Plaque_TIOHObama and his Administration seeks to classify the Catholic Church as a “hate group” because it holds fast to the apostolic tradition coming from the Apostles. The Catholic Church has done much in serving the United States helping the poor, strengthening the fabric of society. But the winds of change brought about by Obama bringing gay marriage, an abomination to the Lord Our God, abortion and Planned Parenthood, great evils the bible warns: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.”

The following are but some examples of some great Catholic Priests who served well this great Nation of ours:

On June 14, 1775, the 1st Continental Congress places the militia at Boston under its control and authorities ten companies of riflemen to be raised.

This is the official birthday of the United States Army.

By July 29, the official birthday of the American Chaplaincy Corps, the Congress authorized chaplains in the United States army with a rank equal to that of a Captain and a monthly pay of twenty dollars.

The Chaplains was provided “forage for one horse.”

Chaplains have been a very important position serving our troops on land and sea.

Since the Civil War, there have been 5 Catholic priests who were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

MedalFather Emil Kapaun, an Army chaplain from Kansas, who died as a prisoner of war in Korea;

Father Vincent Capodanno, a Maryknoll priest from Staten Island, New York, who died when, despite his own war injuries, he tended injured Marines during battle in Vietnam;

Father Joseph O’Callahan, a Jesuit priest and Navy chaplain in World War II, who ministered to injured sailors on a ship hit by two bombs.

Father Charles J. Watters, from New Jersey, who served in Vietnam. He rescued wounded men at the Battle of Dak To and ran through intense gunfire to help wounded soldiers. He died in the worst “friendly fire” incident in Vietnam.

Father Angelo Liteky, who won his medal for carrying 20 wounded soldiers to safety during intense fighting on a search-and-destroy mission in Vietnam. He later became a peace activist, left the priesthood in 1975, and renounced his medal in 1986. ( I honor his service and what he did to receive the Medal of Honor. I do not support the actions he has taken since. Pray for him.)

Father Kapaun and Father Capodanno also are being considered for sainthood.

revolutionary-soldiers-chaplainToday, our military chaplaincy is being threatened by a liberal government who do not cherish the great history and relationship between chaplains and the Soldiers in their care.

New policies that our Government is adopting such as the acceptance of homosexuality and gay marriage threatens this relationship. We really need to pray that our Country guides itself back to a pro-God, pr-family setting.

The following is a story of four heroic Chaplains:

World War I gave rise to submarine warfare as the Germans attempted to use Submarines to defeat England and America.

They felt that if they would have had 100 submarines they could have completed their task.

germanBecause of the technology developed by Germany in submarine warfare, this has caused the major powers to develop and improve the technology.

Today, we have submarines that have nuclear capability.

During World War II, ships at sea were sometimes vulnerable to the threat of submarine warfare.

After putting together my article on the Titanic, a friend of mine from DCF, Defenders of the Catholic Faith (GKC), asked me if I were aware of The Four Chaplains?

I did remember this story because of their bravery. The following is their story:

The Dorchester was sent on mission leaving New York on January 23, 1943.

priests 2It’s mission: to transfer 900 civilians and military to Greenland, this included the four chaplains.

The Dorchester was escorted by the Coast Guard traveling in convoy (SG-19 convoy).

The Coast Guard Cutters Tampa, Escanaba, and Comanche embarked the journey.

Captains log, February 3, 1943 at 12:55 a.m., the Dorchester was hit by a torpedo by the German submarine (U-223) just off Newfoundland.

Notice how close to home this was? The torpedo knocked out the electrical system causing a wide panic among the passengers.

Despite the fact that the Commander, Captain Hans J. Danielson ordered for the ship’s crew to sleep in their clothing and life jackets, the order was largely ignored and when the torpedo hit, you can imagine the chaos that followed.

four chaplainsWith the panic, the Chaplains tried to help calm the situation as they attempted to evacuate the ship in an orderly fashion. There were wounded Sailors and the Chaplains were seen helping the wounded.

As the supplies ran out so did the life jackets and so the Chaplains offered theirs to those who had none.

One of the survivors, Grady Clark, stated, “As I swam away from the ship, I looked back. The flares had lighted everything. The bow came up high and she slid under. The last thing I saw, the Four Chaplains were up there praying for the safety of the men. They had done everything they could. I did not see them again. They themselves did not have a chance without their life jackets” (source: Kvaran, Einar Einarsson, An Annotated Inventory of Outdoor Sculpture of Washtenaw County, unpublished document, 1989).

Other eye witness accounts heard the Chaplains praying in Latin along with Jewish prayers (UnionPresbyterian.com).

priests 4Of the 904 passengers aboard the Dorchester, 230 were rescued. Because of the cold water, hypothermia neutralized the life jackets as most perished in the water.

The water temperature was 34 °F (1 °C) and the air temperature was 36 °F (2 °C).

By the time additional rescue ships arrived, “hundreds of dead bodies were seen floating on the water, kept up by their life jackets.” (Morison, Samuel Eliot (1975). History of United States Naval Operations in World War II, Volume I The Battle of the Atlantic 1939-1943. Little, Brown and Company).

Of the Four Chaplains, one was a Catholic Priest, one was a Jewish Rabbi, one was Church of Christ, and the other was a Methodist.

priests 7These men: George L. Fox, Alexander D. Goode, Clark V. Poling, and John P. Washington are American heros who displayed exceptional heroism in the face of danger.

They were seen going down arm in arm locked singing praise to God.

What an amazing story and still typical of the many Chaplains I was honored to serve with in my 26 plus years in the Army.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).

The Guardian Angel: Eucharistic Miracle of SOKÓŁKA POLAND, OCTOBER 12, 2008

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 18th, 2016

Crdinal BurkIt is so hard for me to contain myself on this Eucharistic Miracle, don’t stop till you read all of the Miracle that follows this commentary, it is better than awesome, and I am going to see how I can go see this weeks Miracle, and next weeks Miracle, I already have my passport, and if it is God’s will, Mary please ask Jesus, I want to go see these two miracles, and more while at both locations. So read this weeks and next weeks more than once. You will also see in this weeks Miracle, that Satan already has his dupes out trying to downplay the miracle, and you will see how Jesus used the scientists to give them a swat, as they showed how Satan’s fakes were against the truth. Wow, Wow, Wow.

I just returned from another Marian Conference this weekend in St. Louis, which to me is the one put into my path years ago, to start bringing it to other areas of the state, and then inviting them all over the state during the year to come to the one in St. Louis if they have a chance.

kiser 3I was blessed with to see and be blessed by many other Servant Spiritual Warriors for Jesus, Mary and the Catholic Church. But always the greatest blessings I receive is the Mass and the Adoration Chapel*** Many times the Adoration Chapel is packed to capacity, and there is a constant line, I mean constant line to the Confessionals, keeping three priests busy with confession for hours and hours.

Over the next two months I will be meeting with teams that are working on Marian Conferences for this year, in Sikeston, (Springfield/Cape Diocese) April 22 & 23, in Raytown (Kansas City/St. Joseph Diocese), June 17 & 18, in Glasgow, (Jefferson City Diocese) August 12 & 13, and in Springfield, (Springfield/Cape Diocese) October 14 & 15.

One of our team members was also doing a parish mission in Columbia today, and we will be doing more Parish mission during the year, we also just finished a wonderful parish mission in Boonville, Sts Peter and Paul on the 9, 10, 11 of January, and will be working with the Springfield/Cape Girardeau Diocese Women on Friday, April 15 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Please, please keep all of these events in your daily prayers, that everyone involved in any way is blessed in spirit, mind, and body to do all they can to bring souls to our Lord, and seek to use the weapon (Rosary) that Mary brought us, asking for her mantle of protection around all involved in any way.

jesus-break-bread“Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you; for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you I shall not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” Matthew 26:26-29

Is there someone you are deeply concerned about? Put all into the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. Eucharistic Adoration is a gift of love. Through the Angel of Fatima, Heaven taught us the secret of how to convert the whole world through the Great Power of Eucharistic Adoration.

AngelKids1Listen again to the words from the Angel to the children of Fatima: “O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore you profoundly. I offer you the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the Tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is most offended. By the Infinite Merits of the Sacred heart of Jesus, and the merits of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg you for the Conversion of the Whole World.”

With the Eucharistic Miracle that follows I believe you will see and be affirmed, and can receive joy and peace. God so loves us and sees us in the worldwide decay, and is letting us see in this Eucharistic Miracle of the last seven years, how much he wants to draw us in our weakness to HIM.

Do we want to stop the slaughter of innocents worldwide both inside and outside the womb? For sure we do. Do we want to stop all the other offenses to a Holy God happening all over the world? For sure we do.

Then try to pray that prayer given by an Angel who is before the throne of God daily, if you have not had to beg, follow the Angel’s words and Beg GOD for the Conversion of the Whole World.

1941433_627979330608064_6041257_oSince it is for Souls that you are begging for, you, and me, yes you and me, can never do something better. So I will give a suggestion, before or after you read today’s miracle, go to your knees before a Holy God and say that prayer that was given through the Angel for the whole world. Love each of you so much.

I am going to my knees for each of you as I send this, please do this for all those God has given you and puts into your path.

To the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful & Immaculate Heart of Mary, GregoryMary

Eucharistic Miracle of SOKÓŁKA POLAND, OCTOBER 12, 2008

First, the story:

sokol 12On October 12, 2008, at the church dedicated to Saint Anthony of Sokółka, the Holy Mass of 8:30 AM is celebrated by a young vicar, Filip Zdrodowski. During Communion, unknowingly the Host falls from the hands of one of the priests.

A woman kneeling, ready to receive the Eucharist, makes him notice it. The priest remains paralyzed from fright and believing it was dirty, places it in the vasculum, a small silver vessel which contains the water utilized by priests to wash their fingers after distributing Communion. At the end of the Holy Mass, the sacristan, Sister Julia Dubowska, takes the vasculum with the Host and for increased safety pours it into another vessel which she then locks in the safe where the chalices were kept.

A week later, on Sunday, October 19, around 8:00 AM, the sister opens the safe and finds the Host almost dissolved but with some strange red clots in the center. She immediately calls the priests to show them what was discovered.

sokol 7The Host was mostly dissolved. Only a very small piece of the consecrated bread was left, tightly interconnected to the substance that appeared on its surface. Actually, part of the Host was joined to that “strange red clot”.

The pastor of Sokółka then contacted the Metropolitan Curia of Białystok. Archbishop Edward Ozorowski together with the Chancellor of the Curia, priests and professors examined the Host and, astounded, decide to wait for the development of the events and to see what would happen next.

On October 29 the vessel containing the Host is brought into the parish chapel and locked in the tabernacle; the next day, on order of the Archbishop, Father Gniedziejko delicately removes with a small spoon the partially dissolved Host with the blood colored substance on its interior and which with the naked eye immediately gave the impression of being a bloodstain places it on a pure white corporal, with a red cross embroidered on its center.

The Sequence:

The Metropolitan Curia of Białystok has released this declaration concerning the Eucharistic Miracle that occurred at Sokółka:

sokol 10“1. On October 12, 2008, a consecrated Host fell out of the hands of a priest while he was distributing Holy Communion. He picked it up and placed it in a vessel filled with water, in the tabernacle. After Mass, the vessel containing the host was placed in a safe present in the sacristy.

2. On October 19, 2008, after opening the safe one could clearly see a red stain on the Host that had fallen,

3. On October 29, 2008, the vessel containing the Host was transferred to the tabernacle of the chapel of the rectory. The next day the Host was removed from the water contained in the vessel and placed on a corporal inside the tabernacle.

4. On January 7, 2009, the sample of the Host was taken and examined independently by two professionals in histopathology at the University of Medicine of Białystok. They issued a common declaration which states: ‘The sample sent for evaluation looks like myocardial tissue. In our opinion, of all the tissues of living organisms this is the one that resembles it the most.’

sokol 115. The Commission has noted that the analyzed Host is the same one that has been moved from the sacristy to the tabernacle in the chapel of the rectory. Intervention by a third party has not been found.

6. The case of Sokółka does not contradict the faith of the Church, but rather confirms it.”

At the beginning of January of 2009 the Curia of Białystok asked two eminent specialists in pathologoical anatomy of the Medical University of Białystok – Professor Maria Elżbieta Sobaniec-Łotowska and Professor Stanisław Sulkowski, to analyze the samples of the bloodstained Host.

CUD W SOKOLCEAt the beginning of January of 2009 the Curia of Białystok asked two eminent specialists in pathologoical anatomy of the Medical University of Białystok – Professor Maria Elżbieta Sobaniec-Łotowska and Professor Stanisław Sulkowski, to analyze the samples of the bloodstained Host.

On Janaury 7 – Professor Sobaniec-Łotowska went to Sokółka and took from the corporal a minuscule sample of the mysterious substance present in the Host. The professors of the UMB University had underlined that, in the case of the examined Host, in the sample they have found numerous biomorphological indicators typical of cardiac muscle tissue such as, for example, the phenomenon of segmentation, namely damage to the fibers of the tissue of the cardiac muscle in the section where communicating junctions [structures characteristic of the cardiac muscle] are found, and the phenomenon of fragmentation. Such damages are visible in the form of numerous small lesions. These alterations can be observed only in fibers that were not necrotic, that is alive, and show signs of the fast spasms of the cardiac muscle typical of the extreme phase preceding death.

Another important evidence of the fact that the material analyzed corresponded to human cardiac muscle tissue was the central position of the cellular nucleus in the observed fibers, a typical characteristic of cardiac muscle fibers…

sokol 4The two scientists of Białystok declared… “Some signs that can correspond to nodes of the contractions have been observed on the section of several fibers. Instead, during the analysis with the electronic microscope, the outlines of the communicating junctions and the thin filaments of the myofibrils were visible”.

Moreover, the cardiac tissue was joined to the consecrated Host in an inseparable manner. In the report of the examination performed by Professor Sobaniec-Łotowska and Professor Sulkowski, we find written: “The material resulted was sufficient for the examination; it indicates that it is cardiac muscle tissue, or at least the most similar to it among all the living tissues of an organism”. “And, something very important, the material analyzed is composed in all respects of cardiac muscular tissue”. This affirmation is reported in the “Communication of the Metropolitan Curia of Białystok” of October 14, 2009, concerning the Eucharistic phenomena at Sokółka.

The professors discovered also other unexplainable elements. “The Host remained in water for a long time and it remained in the corporal for an even longer period of time.

sokol 5The tissue that appeared on the Host would therefore have had to undergo the process of autolysis, namely the process of self-destruction by the action of the intracellular enzymes; in the material analyzed there were not however observed traces of these alterations!”, the two luminaries declared.

Another very interesting event observed consists in that the substance found on the corporal, although slightly changed after being removed from the water (it had simply dried) a couple of years ago, it did not change its appearance despite having been neither stabilized nor preserved at a particular temperature. “This signifies that if the miracle were due to a bacterium, the material would have disintegrated, crumbled and would have changed appearance. Any microbial culture, even placed on the cleanest possible material, after a single week appears completely different” added Professor Sulkows

sokol 9“At first I was convinced that it was a blood clot” – said Professor Sobaniec-Łotowska. But the truth was much more surprising! The two scientists of Białystok, who for their own independent investigations, made use of the most modern optical microscopes and the transmission electronic microscope, have reached the same conclusion (Professor Sulkowski, did not know that the sample which he was examining came from a Host): the sample examined was neither a clot, nor blood … it was a human cardiac muscle tissue still alive. And, something even more incredible, it was a cardiac muscle with typical indications of the final phase that precedes death.

The Church believes that the words of consecration, though the power of the Holy Spirit, transform the species of bread into the Body of Christ and the species of wine into his Blood. It provides also a call to the ministers of Holy Communion to distribute the Body of Christ with faith and attention and to the faithful – to receive It with reverence.

When the Curia of Białystok became aware of the incredible results of the analyses, it formed a special Ecclesiastical Commission convened by the Archbishop on March 30, 2009. His task consisted in examining the miracle from the theological point of view and in listening to all who had seen the Host or who had been witnesses of those extraordinary events.

sokol 2The commission also had the task of dispelling any doubt of deception and of ascertaining that no one had furtively substituted the Host in the tabernacle, The representatives of the commission – the distinguished professors of the Seminary of Białystok – interrogated all the witnesses, verifying the sincerity of their testimonies.

The work undertaken by was taken for the examination is the same one that has been transferred from the sacristy to the tabernacle of the chapel in the rectory. The intervention of strangers was not observed”.

What a great sign! Acts 2:17-19 states, “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;…”

sokol 1Pilgrims have flocked to Sokolka Poland as the news spread about this great sign. Jesus was once asked this question, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see, and believe you? What work do you perform? Jesus responds given us the “Bread of Life Discourse”, which Jesus says, ” I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever; and the bread which I shall give for the life of the world is my flesh. The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat? So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me. This is the bread which came down from heaven, not such as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live for ever.”

The Catholic Defender: Jim Braddock, The Cinderella Man, Devout Catholic

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 16th, 2016

braddock 6I was watching the movie directed by Ron Howard, the “Cinderella Man”, that starred Russell Crowe playing the role of Jim Braddock. Watching this true story of one of the greatest figures of the sport of Boxing, I couldn’t help but see some of Braddock’s inspiration found in the Rocky movies that stared Sylvester Stallone.

Jim Braddock was born on June 7, 1905 to strong Irish Catholics being the youngest of seven children. Braddock was raised a strong Catholic which taught him great discipline. Growing up at the time, as youth, fighting was what he was good at, even the Sisters at the Catholic School became fans.

By 1926 at age 20, Jim Braddock became a professional fighter. He fought himself up through the ranks when in 1928, he defeated Tuffy Griffiths bringing Braddock into the national limelight.

braddock 7The world of boxing at this time had a strong Catholic environment. Boxing probably had more Catholic involvement than any other sport. It offered hope for those who worked hard enough to get into the ring.

In 1929, Braddock lost a 15th round decision to Tommy Loughran despite the fact that Braddock severely broke his right hand during the fight. Losing this fight and breaking his hand, Jim Braddock found himself struggling to find work on the docks. The Great Depression was tough on America, but during these tough times, Jim Braddock began to heal.

Jim Braddock’s faith in Jesus and His Church was strengthened by the Priests of St. Joseph of the Palisades from West New York. They told Braddock to hold fast to his Catholic faith, trust in the Lord always, that God will provide him strength.

Also, Jim’s wife, Mae was a great support as well. She was glad that her husband were not fighting in the ring at one point, but was concerned about finances as well. Her role really can been seen in the Rocky movies, as Rocky’s wife Adrian plays that role perfectly. Again, there is so much that the Rocky movies can be seen from the true story of Jim Braddock.

braddock 8One day, Joe Gould, Braddock’s longtime friend and manager was able to line up Braddock to fight Corn Griffin who at the time, was the number two contender in the world to fight for the world Championship. Braddock stunned the world with knocking Griffin out in the 3rd round of the fight.

Winning this fight and making his great comeback, Braddock’s story became a rags to riches story that became the inspiration of a nation. He became known as the “Cinderella Man” as he was preparing for another run for the world Heavyweight Championship of the world. One man stood in his way, Max Baer.

Max Baer at the time was thought to be unbeatable, he was a very powerful boxer. Baer had 50 knockouts and was considered the heavy favorite to win against Braddock.

braddock 4Jim Braddock said before the fight, “I’m training for a fight, not a boxing contest or a clownin’ contest or a dance. Whether it goes one round or three rounds or ten rounds, it will be a fight and a fight all the way. When you’ve been through what I’ve had to face in the last two years, a Max Baer or a Bengal tiger looks like a house pet. He might come at me with a cannon and a blackjack and he would still be a picnic compared to what I’ve had to face.”

Finally June 13, 1935, Jim Braddock and Max Baer (the reigning Champion) fought in a grueling 15 round decision. Braddock’s victory in a unanimous decision was one of the greatest upsets in boxing history. The fight was held at Madison Square Garden

Jim Braddock inspired a nation, one young fighter from Detroit in particular, would take this inspiration and would hold Braddock as a sports idle all his life. This young fighter would be another one of boxing greatest, Joe Louis.

braddock 9Jim Braddock would defend his title and fight Joe Louis (1936) knocking Louis down in the 1st round. However, the younger fighter would recover and win the fight taking the Championship. Joe Louis would become the major bridge from the early boxing of the early 20th century, to the world of boxing today. Joe Louis only called one fighter he ever fought “champ” and that would be Jim Braddock. Louis also said of Braddock that he was the most courageous man he ever fought in the ring.

Joe Louis could later understand Jim Braddock’s defeat as he would ultimately lose to another up and coming fighter that would knock Joe Louis out, Rocky Marciano. Another major inspiration for the Rocky movie series.

Jim Braddock became an inspiration to a nation that was suffering. The Catholic Priests from New York basically echoed something that St. Paul had said, 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

braddock 11Jim Braddock and his wife Mae, were married 44 years, holding fast to their faith, family, and Country. Braddock served honorably in the Army during World War II and he displayed great courage in the ring. 2 Samuel 10:13 states, “Be of good courage, and let us play the man for our people, and for the cities of our God; and may the LORD do what seems good to him.”

Unlike today where sports figures squander untold millions ending up in poverty, Jim Braddock took the money he made from the Baer fight and bought a home in New Jersey. He also bought a business handling heavy machinery, most known for his work on the Verrazano bridge that linked Brooklyn New York and Stanten Island in 1966.

Jim Braddock’s professional boxing career his record was 44-2-2 with 21 knockouts, but what matters most was his love for Jesus, the Virgin Mary, the Catholic Church, his family and country. He gave much to support various Catholic charities, he gave to helping the poor and the hungry.

When talking about legacy, yes, Jim Braddock left a great legacy in the boxing ring that helped inspired a nation, but his commitment to serving Christ, his family, friends, this is his greatest legacy. Jim Braddock died November 29, 1974 and was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2001.

braddock 10Hebrews 10: 24-25 states, “and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

As we await for that Day that does draw near, we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses that gives us inspiration and hope for the coming of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Catholic Defender: 300 A.D. Sign of the Cross

Posted by Donald Hartley - January 16th, 2016

trinityWhen I pray I always begin and end with the Sign of the Cross.

That was the way I was raised and this is simply a part of who I am. I’ve had people comment to me as people tend to appreciate people who have no problem praying in public.

The object is not to be a show, but to simply give God thanks for what we are receiving.

I’ve been responding to a series of dates that anti-Catholics have been placing to try and trip Catholics up on truth.

One of the most visible signs that identify Catholics together as a group is “The Sign Of The Cross” which depicts the cross as a sign and a prayer of the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I thought it was interesting that the group known as the Christian Assemblies International would set these dates trying to discredit these practices for personal gain. Yet, learning that this group was founded in 1973, they really do not have much of a foundation.

tertullianYet, even the dates they have been setting have not been even close to the truth. The Christian Assemblies International are saying that Christians began the custom of praying the Sign of the Cross in 300 A.D.

That was a date picked out of thin air wanting to tie this tradition with the Roman Emperor Constantine.

Around the year 200 A.D, a hundred years before 300 A.D., Tertullian from Carthage (modern day Tunisia, Africa) said, “We Christians wear out our foreheads with the sign of the cross.” That was common place by this time. The early Christians have always identified with the crucifixion of Jesus and walked the way of sorrows.

Clearly the Sign of the Cross is one of the most ancient practices of Christians exhibiting their faith. Traditionally, Catholics will open and end prayer with the Sign of the Cross.

It has been shown in movies at a critical point in a person’s life, we see sports figures do the Sign of the Cross before and after a huge play.

The Sign of the Cross is a prayer in and of itself which recognizes the Holy Trinity. Jesus died on the Cross and that has become the sign of our redemption.

JesusJesus redeems mankind and Christians internalize the Sign of the Cross in this outward sign.

At the Gospel, we place the Sign of the Cross on our forehead, our lips and our hearts. Our minds think the truth, our mouths speak the truth, and our hearts love the truth.

The cross reminds us the physical way of the Paschal Mystery.

We celebrate the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Cross is a sign of victory over death.

The early Christians recognized the cross as a liberation for those who are held captive to the bondage of sin.

The following is an Old Testament writing that shows Gods anger towards those who worship idols:

bailSon of man, he (the angel) ordered, dig through the wall. I dug through the wall and saw a door. Enter, he said to me, and see the abominable evils which they are doing here. I entered and saw that all around upon the wall were pictured the figures of all kinds of creeping things and loathsome beasts (all the idols of the house of Israel). Before these stood seventy of the elders of the house of Israel, among whom Jaazaniah, son of Shaphan, each of them with his censer in his hand, and the fragrance of the incense was rising upward. Then he said to me: Do you see, son of man, what each of these elders of the house of Israel is doing in his idol room? They think: ‘The Lord cannot see us; the Lord has forsaken the land’. He continued: You shall see still greater abominations that they are practicing. Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the temple, and I saw sitting there the women who were weeping for Tammuz. Then he said to me: Do you see this, son of man? You shall see other abominations, greater than these! Then he brought me into the inner court of the Lord’s house, and there at the door of the Lord’s temple, between the vestibule and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the Lord’s temple and their faces toward the east; they were bowing down to the sun. Do you see, son of man? He asked me, Is it such a trivial matter for the house of Judah to do the abominable things they have done here, for they have filled the land with violence, and again and again they have provoked me, that now they must also put the branch to my nose? Therefore I in turn will act furiously: I will not look upon them with pity nor will I show mercy” (Ezekiel 8:9-18).

XGod viewed such abominations as adultery against him. Ezekiel reveals that because of this rebellion, God’s presence will leave the Temple. Ezekiel 9:3-6 gives a foreshadow of the Sign of the Cross in a spectacular way. Ezekiel writes, “Then he called to the man dressed in linen with the writers case at his waist, saying to him: Pass through the city (through Jerusalem) and mark an X on the foreheads of those who moan and groan over all the abominations that are practiced within it. To the others I heard him say: Pass through the city after him and strike! Do not look on them with pity nor show any mercy! Old men, youths and maidens, women and children, wipe them out! But do not touch any marked with the X; begin at my sanctuary.”

The “X” is placed on the faithfuls forehead, it is a mysterious mark that protects them from Judgment. The mark is represented by the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet (tahv), it had the form of the cross. At Baptism, a Sign of the Cross is placed on the forehead of each person.

baptizzedRevelation 14:1-5 states, “Then I looked and there was the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. I heard a sound from heaven like the sound of rushing water or a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. They were singing what seemed to be a new hymn before the throne, before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn this hymn except the hundred and forty-four thousand who had been ransomed from the earth. These are they who were not defiled with women; they were virgins and these are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been ransomed as the first fruits of the human race for God and the Lamb. On their lips no deceit has been found; they are unblemished”.

In Baptism, we are given a mark sealed by the Trinity. Jesus instructs the Church to Baptize the nations in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. The Sign of the Cross reflects this mark given to us at our Baptism. Just as in the time of Ezekiel, we have a choice to follow God or follow the way of the world.

baptizedThe book of Revelation also speaks of another mark on the forehead of those who reject God. We definitely do not want this mark! Through the Sacraments, we are made clean so that before the Lord, we are made innocent (Rev 14:4-5). Just as it was in the day of Ezekiel, we have a mark that is like the original “X” and it is made into a “+”.

So what is the point against the sign of the cross that the anti-Catholics want to turn you away from it? It is a tradition that goes back to the autumn of our faith. Something that groups like the Christian Assemblies International can only wish for. Only the Catholic Church has the historical tie to the Apostles in an unbroken line of authority. If they can erase these time treasured traditions by attacking them as Pagan, that is their intent. For us, we are encouraged to hold fast to the faith handed down from the apostles.
